    Fucking shortbus

Twice, in a hour, a car went right through a crosswalk next to me while I was driving through it. Playing an online game, guy tries to teamkill me. For 10 minutes. Friendly fire is turned off. Can't shave without making many holes in my face. Raw was eh. Anyone else having a shortbus day? Edit: Walking through the crosswalk. Not driving. God, this is a shortbus day.

Have you ever tried using an electric razor? I used to cut myself all the time until I picked one up. Last time I used electric, it pulled nary a hair from my face.

LJSexay: Situation resolved. Check your Wii inbox in the near future. To he who sent a PM to me volunteering to fix this situation: Thank you so much.

LJ, I didn't add you to the list of confirmed people in the US. My apologies. If you didn't get a PM though, you should have notified me right away. I know I bought my game for someone, and Marvin did as well. If there's anyone who hasn't purchased a game yet, is there any way we can squeak LJ in here? So that, someone buys their game for LJ instead, and LJ gives a game to someone else instead? Or are we too late?

I've seen clips of the thing. It has its moments, but it's not the kind of movie I would want to see with anyone.

My preferences: I have the Sega Genesis Collection, and the Genesis games that are not on that collection, but are available on the VC I either own, or don't care about. So please avoid Genesis games. Beyond that, I'm open to a lot of games, with a preferences towards Super Nintendo games.

    HD DVD/Blu-Ray

I hate this war. The war exists, in my opinion, because Sony is still annoyed with the whole BetaMax deal. If you read "Sony" by John Nathan, I think it's clear they want to win a format war and control software (BluRay), to show off their hardware (BluRay players). Then again, it can't be war unless the other side are jerks, too. I think Microsoft/Intel/Toshiba desperately want tougher DRM's, and the ability to control those DRM's.

PM's have been sent out. If you are Smues, UTBroward, AndrewTS, or MarvinIsALunatic, and you did not get a PM, PM me immediately so I can tell you whom you are buying for. Your deadline to purchase a game for someone is December 31.

I'm serious about Urban Champion. Gift it for this dealy and you're gone. I'm not imposing any other restrictions on this thing, but I would hope that everyone would gift something they themselves enjoy, or would expect the giftee to enjoy. Picking something you know they'll hate on purpose is kind of stupid in a secret Santa deal. Anyway, the spirit of this thing is to gift something you think the giftee will ike, but just A. actually make your gift, and B. don't gift Urban Champion, and send the wrath of ... uhh... something, down on you! So anything else, even if it's generally agreed to suck, like China Warrior, is okay? Are you sure?

Alright. At 12:01 AM Eastern Monday morning, I'm closing this to new signups. I'll then decide who is participating, and PM you with the person you are giving a gift to. Smues, I'm counting on you to punish the defiant.

    Luke-O turned 22 today.

I'd get you a VC game for your birthday, but you know why I can't. The world doesn't want me to give you stuff.

If you listen after Ryu finishes that line, he mumbles "Clay Fighter". I laughed.

Well, did you know that 75% of retail store employees have a hearing problem? Verbal reinforcement is just not going to be effective in those cirucmstances. That's when you have to hit them.

Shin Megami Tensei? Well, if you know Spanish, Japanese vowels follow the same rules as Spanish vowels, as in that there are only five vowel sounds. Compared to English, the letter a can be pronounced "ey" or "ah" or "aah" depending on the word it's in. So just pretend that the words are in Spanish.

Tino, this is my analysis. If you can, try connecting wired to the Netgear router. If it works, and wireless doesn't work, then one of my suspicions is confirmed, that Netgear NEVER fixed the problem from years ago, that has to do with the way it handles peer to peer packets over wireless. See, on the Nintendo DS, let's take Mario Kart. You can play random matches using that router. You'll get disconnected all the time, but it's possible. You will NEVER, EVER play a friends match. Animal Crossing? You're fucked. On the Netgear forums, people bitched about this for months, and NEVER, EVER got a response back. I remember watching those forums for months, amused that I had dumped the thing. If the router is one in the WGR614 series, return it. Dump it. Get rid of it. I recommend the Linksys WRT54G (though that router had issues with some King of Fighters games I liked). It's such a good router otherwise... you can do psuedo-static IP's using MAC Addresses and DHCP... Wired connections are just fine... but god. This one problem sucks so bad. If it's not a 614... I've heard the 624's have the same problem, sometimes even worse. The truth is, is that routers suck. Some just suck less than others.

    Wii

Cool. The manual says actually, to not use rechargable batteries in the wii remote, but I talked to a mechanical engineering friend of mine who says that's bull. Rechargable batteries (NiMH (Nickel-Metal-Hydride)) should be fine.

    Wii

Well, you CAN get a Classic Controller, and plug it in to the Wii Remote for Super Mario Galaxy, whereupon nothing will happen. Galaxy, like 97% of Wii games, requires the use of the standard Wiimote/Nunchuk combo. But for the record, it feels great. Edit: If you plan to buy Genesis, SNES, N64, or NeoGeo games off of Virtual Console, get a Classic Controller. Edit x 2: The Battery Charger... is that the Nyko charger? I love that charger. However, it is incompatible with the Wii Zapper, FYI. This is because the special remote covers are slightly thicker, causing the remote to not sit in the Zapper casing correctly. You'll have to use the regular cover + good ol' AA batteries for it. But you don't own a Zapper yet. But I just figured any info is good info.

Yeah, that should be enough. I just figured everyone would hop on board. Also, country lock? Seriously? I can understand region lock, maybe, but come on.

Alright, I haven't heard a lot of response. I don't have countries for Marvin and LJSexay, and I'm not going to assume they're in the US (I'm sure some of you know, but I don't). I really don't have enough people to justify doing this yet. If Marvin and LJ are in the US, that's six. Sorry, luke-o.

Also, are you power cycling your devices? Turn off everything, and unplug the router and broadband modem from the wall. Plug in the broadband modem, wait for it to finish booting. Plug in router, wait for it to finish booting. Turn everything back on.

    Super Smash Bros. Brawl

You know, King of Fighters and Guilty Gear have the same settings, sharp vs smooth. However, I wonder if, since they sometimes treat us like morons, this means whether or not the game is in prog scan. I doubt that, because if you select a prog scan signal on a non-HD or non-ED TV, the screen would just blank out. Most likely this is just like the Guilty Gear/KoF setting.

    Xbox 360

Can you elaborate on how to do this? Click here and find your router. Then select, from the list of applications, Xbox Live 360. Everything you need to know that I was going to tell you is found here. This will show you how to forward ports 88 and 3074, not to put your system in the DMZ. Let's not try putting your system in the DMZ unless forward those two ports fails. I apologize if you know how to do this and I am insulting your intelligence, but judging that you weren't familiar with the DMZ, I'm guessing you're not. If you've never dealt with forwarding ports before, it can be tricky. The thing is, most routers should work with Xbox Live without needing to forward ports. Even so, give this a try. I'll look at Netgear's support site to help you, too. Edit: Found this: Netgear Support There is a lot of information on this page, that takes subtle shots at Microsoft, and in other places, contradicts what they say. I say go with what Netgear says on this issue, but be warned that Netgear, by and large, does not give a shit (I know this from personal experience trying to get the DS to work). It is precisely this kind of thing that causes me to stay away from Netgear. When it turns into a he-said she-said affair, I'm going to drop the product that costs the least. Xbox $$$ > Netgear $$$. I recommend Linksys. Don't worry if your router is not Xbox Live certified, I believe Microsoft discontinued doing that. Generally, any router can work with Xbox (I know it hurts to read that). However, they discontinued the Xbox Live certification program for routers before the Wireless Adapter came out. Edit: DURRRRRR They didn't discontinue it. Here's the list. Looks like a lot of Netgear's are supported.
