The CTF maps still bug me, I feel like I'm floating around. I guess mainly because if you're not a Scout, you have no business running the flag. Edit: One of the latest patches to the beta removes the ability of the server to turn friendly fire on. Friendy fire is now always off. Guess that helps the Pyro.

The "Wait, what?" part.

I hate how my teammates always shoot me to make sure I'm not a spy. I know popular opinion is FF off, but I mean, it takes away, I think. A Spy on the other team is supposed to cause paranoia, but that goes away every time you can shoot your teammates without consequence. Also, getting an enemy medic to heal you is an Achievement. Anyone else like the concept of Steam having Achievements? I'm glad they're not worth points, on the basis that different developers have different ideas on how much should be awarded (Remember King Kong on the 360?), but everything else is intact. Also, on the acheivement list itself, it shows how close you are to accomplishing your goal. I guess Portal and HL2:E2 will have these as well?

The game has been patched and runs flawlessly now for most of the playerbase. For the rest, if they have AVG, uninstalling it seems to work. I love it when the Spy takes the disguise of my class, and I see a guy running around with my name. I scream "SPY" into voice chat and fire wildly. On second thought, not the best approach, tactically. Fun though. I've been getting a problem where the animation of characters and sentry guns seems jerky. This is apparently due to a setting in the server being different then the default. If you notice this, changing servers can help.

I think, after all, Halo isn't a continuation of Marathon. They just share a ton of themes, almost like a re-telling: Semi-godlike figure battles against a confederation of alien species, the leader of which attempts to use old technology by a forgotten race to become a god, but ends up making things a lot worse. The purpose of this technology is to subdue and restrain a being of indescribable chaos. This same being also totally wrecked this forgotten race. Other themes: AIs going crazy A friendly female AI going crazy The person responsible for creating the AI's is most likely crazy, like nutbag crazy (Dr. Halsey in the books, though I haven't finished Ghosts of Onyx) AIs living seven years before going crazy (Halo books) Tiny details, most likely homages than actual links: An alien race called the Drinniol exists in both games. SPNKR rocket launcher. Mjolnir Battle armor. I invite debate.

I just discovered the ending of the game, and all the plot points. No spoilers here, but I find it very hard to believe that Halo has nothing to do with the Marathon trilogy at this point. Edit: After reading other people's interpretations, and finding out more details, the whole friggin' Trilogy is either A: directly connected to the Marathon trilogy, or B: A retelling of it.

Tried that hotfix, no good. The good news, is that Valve posted directly in that thread, asking for mini core dumps. These things are huge files, so it means if they want these, they are serious about fixing this. It looks like a hang that could happen on Vista is getting patched in a matter of hours, barring passing smoke testing. Another hang that is responsible for 90% of hangs is on the verge of a fix. Another suggested fix is wiping your config.cfg file.

It's not just me, a lot of people are having this problem on a wide variety of confiugrations. I have Catalyst 7.9 for my 2900XT. Not running the game as administrator (Launching from Steam). Go look at the Team Fortress 2 forums on Steam, there's a huge thread about this. How do you launch an app from Steam as an admin? Or do you make a desktop shortcut, and launch from there? How I fixed the problem: Forced the game into DirectX 8. Turned off HDR. Non wide-screen aspect ratio. I'll try turning that last one off and see if it still doesn't crash. Other people have tried this exact solution and are still crashing.

One word review of Dewy's Adventure: Sucks.

Wow, you're fickle. Could just get the Orange Box for the 360 which has TF2 and a few other games as well... I get the Orange Box for free with my video card.

Because they don't take... American Express. Visa. It's everywhere you want to be. I think that was their motto for a while.
-
I fixed my crash bug by running in DX 8 and turning off HDR. HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS FUN. All urges I had to go out and buy a 360 and Halo 3 just vanished.

Anyone else besides me have a Steam ID? Now that Steam is a lot more like Xbox Live, it would be cool to have some people on my buddy list.

Fuck, I finally have a reason to buy this system: King of Fighters 12 was announced for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Just like Metroid Prime 2, the screw attack is limited to 5 presses of the jump button. The trick to the rotating walls is timing, nothing more. Otherwise, every platform is within range of a screw attack, or has a cannon to launch.

This game crashes predictably and repeatedly on my Vista rig. When it runs for a short period of time, it looks great, though. Keep in mind it is in beta.

The only people that are getting banned for playing Halo 2 early are Microsoft employees. Edit: Fine, Halo 3. But it still applied to Halo 2, I think.
-
No, but Nintendo did announce that your November is packed. Mario, Metroid, Pokemon, Big Brain are the leaders of that pack.

Dewy's Adventure has just come out, and it supports WiiConnect24. If you get it, be sure to let me know somehow so I can add you to the list.

I suppose there will be a standings board amongst ourselves. It'll be good to see my Wii numbers thread put to some use.

Clarification: In Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, most games allow you to narrow down who to search for in Random matches by country. You can say "Local Region" or "Worldwide". I have, in fact, played people in Japan without a whole lot of lag, though those were games like Mario Kart and Metroid. Some games, like Mario Strikers, only match you in the Local Region when you play a random match. However, in a friends match, you can play other regions, though they specifically say "Lag's gonna suck, brotha." Smash will most likely work the same as Mario Strikers.

I absolutely loathed Yoshi's Story. Man, I woke up hoping the US would get in on the Hanabi festival action. What a disappointment. I also didn't realize Dewy's Adventure came out this week. Totally Gameflyed.

Sure thing, I'll send you some too.
