Pretty sure she was signed up for at least a dozen episodes this season, so I imagine we'll see more of her.

Neither Larry Johnson nor LT should really sniff Pro Bowl votes given how up and down they've been this year, but I guess there aren't a whole lot of premier backs in the AFC this year, and they are the top two statistically.
-
Massive understatement, but the Browns' passing game looks way better than in their first 4 games. Just having Stallworth out there as a viable second target seems to be opening things up quite a bit.
-
That can't possibly be true. Are you sure it's not in the event of, say, a 3-way tie?
-
If that was all Andre Royo's doing on the show, I'm disappointed, but at least they chose a hell of an actor for that little character arc.

This was the first SNL I'd watched all the way through in years. Anne Hathaway being gorgeous and the Wahlberg skit made it totally worthwhile. Also, Hader's about as good as anyone on this show has been in a while.

Ouch. That was quick. Maybe they'll hire Terry next.

What's going to happen to people like Marvin when Obama wins this thing in a few weeks? Lots of "coughcough2012cough"?

I don't think you're the only person who thinks they can win, but I wouldn't pick them in a pick 'em. Oklahoma State looks good, but Missouri looks better and has a stronger win to its credit (a drubbing of Illinois) than anything on the OSU schedule.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in Current Events
I don't understand a damn thing in that horribly written article, but amazingly it's the best discussion available of whatever this is about. I also don't see anything about anyone "putting up a bill," or any sort of metrics for whom this would apply to. I'm pretty sure these are just exploratory hearings. -
Wake puts the clamps down and beats Clemson 12-7. Very similar game to the 12-3 win over FSU. I'm surprised they got beat by Navy last week, but it happens. Having what's essentially a 2-game lead on FSU and Clemson already puts Wake in serious charge of that division.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis
Edwin MacPhisto replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in Current Events
Thousands of dollars! No longer there! Oh well. At least I'm diversified! Just today the democrats (I dont know who specifically, look it up) put up a bill that would take away the #1 reason most people put money into 401ks, the fact that its a pretax contribution. No more of that, now that your 401k is worthless, they're gonna tax it so its worth even less. I've been looking for 5 minutes and can't find anything on this, Marv. Whaddaya got? -

I like it a ton too. The first time I heard it, I thought, "Really? This is where PIL evolved to?", but it's grown on me tremendously.

Like Byron said, Metal Box is the better of the two, but there's still some really good stuff on First Issue as well.

All you really need are Closer and Unknown Pleasures. Really, listen to one of them and you'll probably have a pretty good feeling of if you're interested in the band or not. I'm a fan. Agree that Public Image Ltd's first two albums are a great place to go if you end up fond of Joy Division, particularly the droney and out-of-tune aspects.

This show is pretty much a cheesy, smutty soap opera, but Anna Pacquin looks obscenely hot throughout it, which is something I never quite thought I'd be typing. Perfect background viewing.

So, since no one's really been willing to spell it out for Marvin: Obama's guy wasn't actually using guilt-by-association against Hannity. He was very clearly showing, by virtue of Hannity's outrage, that it's a stupid practice, and that the McCain campaign's usage of it is hollow and desperate. That you talk to, listen to, or spend time with a given person isn't much of a reflection on your character. No one should actually think that Hannity's anti-semitic, even when he idiotically hosted a special dedicated to this guy's hilarious views. The same is true of Obama's occasional contact with Ayers. This was way above Hannity's head, of course, because he's one of the stupidest people alive.

1. Who is the best QB in the league up to this point? Toughie. Purely stats, Brees. He and Reggie Bush are the only reason that team's been competitive this year. His 70% completion percentage is insane considering how often he launches it. In terms of overall game...I can't believe I'm saying it, but Eli. Aside from a few moments in the first game against the Redskins, he's been mistake-free and on-point. That his competition's been awful undermines it a bit. I can't get behind Favre just because so much of his stuff was garbage time against the Cardinals, and he almost singlehandedly played the Jets out of that Patriots game. 2. What the fuck happened to San Diego's running game? Tomlinson's injury is huge. He looks awkward and slow. Without Lorenzo Neal he's trying to clear those holes himself, and it's just not working. Also, the injury has them favoring the passing game heavily; I think the RBs only had, what, 18 carries last week? Chambers and Gates have been performing well, so I guess it makes sense. 3. Indianapolis is dead last in the league in rushing and dead last against the run. Baltimore is 4th in the league in rushing and FIRST against the run. Do the Colts need to get lucky again? Nah. A lot of that rushing disaster comes from the first couple weeks of the season, when the o-line was a mess. They're improving. They'll also win easily through the air. 4. How long does Rod Marinelli keep his job? The Lions let Matt Millen stick around forever, but they've been a lot more fickle with coaches. He gets quietly canned in week 16, so Detroit can go after a hot coordinator off a team that's just going to miss the playoffs. 5. Tennessee has two players with 4 INTs this year, and another with 3. By far the most in the league. Can this defense carry them into the playoffs and win there? I don't think they keep up the turnover pace, but the defense is annihilatingly nasty in all facets. I think they lose to somebody in the playoffs, but get there handily. They'll start to lean more heavily on Chris Johnson down the stretch when they really need to; once he's handling 18-20 carries a game, they'll kill clock more easily in those low scoring games. And the less fatty fat Lendale has to get on the respirator, the more damaging he'll be on the few times he gets in the game.

I echo the "oh great, more future stuff" comments. It's just a gimmicky way of doing risky or shocking things without any consequences. This show is rapidly losing me. I miss stuff like "Company Man."

This is just like Al Capone. Awesome. -
Nah, I don't check my opponent's picks before posting. The couple times I did that the first year or two I always got too cute and lost. I usually just wait till Thursday evening to do them so I can check the last injury reports and the lines.

It figures that the one week I decide not to go to Charlottesville is the week UVA finds their offense. 21-0 at the half, with Maryland looking nothing like the bunch who dominated Cal and beat Clemson.
