Best (cheapest) video card for a laptop?

No chance in hell you can find one for $30-50. It depends on the interface, basically. If you know how to crack open your notebook and you know your way around inside the case, you can probably buy yourself a card -- if the original isn't integrated onto the motherboard. If it is, no can do; you're going to need to get a new notebook to change the vid card. If you have a physical video card inside your case, there are other options. http://search.ebay.com/geforce-go_W0QQcatr...ZQ2d1QQsbrsrtZl Look around for one and get one, but being that you're upgrading a laptop, it's one of those "at your own risk" type things.

    Building a system

Alienware isn't bad, but they're expensive as hell. Don't get me wrong, they build good computers, but you can get a $4000 Alienware computer for about $2000 if you build it yourself.

I've actually just been posting some pictures that vindicate the refs a bit. There's a whole bunch of Quicktime vids up on a website that I frequent which show some pretty questionable calls against the Steelers, and some interesting angles that show that Ben did score, there was OPI on Jackson (albeit slightly), etc.

Actually, I just showed a picture of where they weren't perfect. But, keep up the good work!

Technically, whether he can make the tackle or not doesn't matter, according to the rules.

Block in the back on Roethlisberger on the Herndon INT. Proof that Ben scored (albeit barely)

Bettis' touchdown numbers suffered because of playcalling, also. Many times, he was inexplicably taken out at the goalline earlier in his career (never got that one) and particularly in the 1998-2000 and 2002-2004 years, the red zone offense was atrocious with or without Bettis. Also, some of those years, he was platooning with other backs (Amos Zereoue, mostly), which was in large part bad coaching.

Naw, only six of his playoff games came when he was a specialist (two last year, four this year). He miserably failed in '97 and absolutely shat the bed in '01, when he was on pace to win the rushing title before a late season injury. They called it a "strained groin" and he was expected to return from week 13 onward or so (I think he went down in week 10), but didn't make another start until the AFCC. Now, that might not have been his fault (Cowher can probably be blamed for starting him at all, considering his groin was actually torn, according to him), but that's a lingering sore spot for Steeler fans, who (like me) still believe that team was SB capable.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

Bettis probably won't get in, as much as it saddens me. The hype will wear off after a year or so, and they'll remember him as a back that never really dominated the league and choked many times in the playoffs. Nonetheless, I think he deserves it because he redefined the role of a big back in the league. His stats aside, the fact that he became the prototypical bruising tailback for at least five years (97-2001) is enough to convince me he's a HoFer. Of course, I think DT deserves it, too.

To close the debate on the Roethlisberger TD, he also said that they were going to run a quick count QB sneak on 4th down had he not scored. So, the talk about Cowher going into turtle shell mode on 4th is pretty much bunk at this point. For those who say "Well, they stopped them on 1st and 2nd down and goal!!!", remember that they didn't have the ball down on the ONE INCH LINE for those plays. Ben would've scored anyways.

He didn't jump offsides. He timed the snap well because he figured out the Seahawks' silent count. They changed it after that posession because they realized he had figured out the timing.

I had a post up there ^^^^^^ where I gave two of them. There were more, including the non-calls that prompted the infamous holding call against the left tackle who tried to clothesline Clark Haggans.

Point was that the Steelers didn't get every questionable call, nor did they need it. The Seahawks had more problems than the questionable calls. Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not isn't really my problem.

The rule is that he was trying to trip up a blocker, which is a foul. I don't necessarily agree with the rule, but it's a rule.

In fairness to the Seahawks, they did try to get it to Jurevicius. He was blanketed by 'Shea the whole game. Shea had probably the best game of his career.

And sorry 'bout that, Leena. I didn't read the whole thread, I just saw a few of the same "Cawks were rawbed'd'!!!" posts I've seen everywhere. Props to you.

Let me clarify my position, while I'm at it. By no means am I arguing that there were no bad calls by the officials. Any one of those could have gone the other way, and the Hasselback personal foul was as bullshit of a call as I've seen (by the way, the Steelers had the same call against them earlier in the year off of a Mommy Maddox pick; the rule was as BS then as it is now). However, this isn't the same type of situation as the game in Indy, where the refs almost made the Colts -- who were thoroughly outplayed the entire game -- the victors. In this circumstance, you had a team who thoroughly bungled away a victory by themselves, with no help from the refs. 1) Joey Porter was 100% wrong in calling Jeremy Stevens soft before the game. Case in point: his hands. 2) The Seacawks seemed completely baffled by the fact that the Steelers rotated coverage towards Darrell Jackson after the first quarter. Let's see: you have a wily veteran as your second WR, one who has kept the team together through the 3/4 of the season Jackson was hurt. He's facing a rookie corner. In the Super Bowl. And how many catches did Bobby Engram come up with? 6 for 70 mostly meaningless yards. No touchdowns, no real impact on the course of the game. 3) They were completely unable to establish the tempo of the game through their running game. Color me baffled that Shaun Alexander had 95 yards, because it seemed like whenever the Cawks needed a good gain, they threw the ball. In every situation where having an all-world MVP tailback would seem to benefit you, they put the ball on Matt Hasselbeck's shoulders and let Alexander rot. He must've had the quietest 4.8 ypc game I've ever seen in my life, and it's entirely Mike Holmgren's fault. He let good ol' Hasselbeck throw up some wounded quails on third down and you're just not going to win the Super Bowl going 5/18 on third down.

re: The bad calls This is as bullshit a theme as any; ESPN is soaking up the controversy, as expected, without bothering to actually look at the tape. On the Jackson push-off, it's a tough call to make, but you guys are looking way too much at the slow motion replay of it. In full speed, the push-off is VERY clear, and it's not as if you can review a judgement call anyways. The call was made RIGHT in front of the referee, and he did not wait until Hope had argued it, as some have said (maybe not here, but elsewhere). The Roethlisberger touchdown was just that: a touchdown. Was it a close call? Absolutely. However, if you watch the replay, his hand is completely on the goal line and unless you think he's not like, holding the ball, the nose of the ball absolutely HAD to have been over the goal line. There's absolutely no question about it. If any part of the ball goes over any part of the goal line, it's a touchdown. No question. The hold? That's an interesting call, but then again, not really. If you watch the tackle hook Haggans almost up to his throat, it looks like sort of an "any NFL play" type of block. However, word is that the tackle had been warned for the same type of block twice during the game, and nonetheless, continued to hook around the LB's throat. If you look at the letter of the law, it's a hold. Is it a close call? Yes, of course it is. That's why we're debating it. However, to say that it's a "phantom" call is just being a blatant contrarian. The call was there. And, hey, while we're at it, let's talk about the Stevens fumble when he held the ball for three steps and had it stripped... and it was called incomplete. He caught the ball, got to the ground, took three steps... and they call it incomplete? ZUH?! Right there, that play makes the Jackson PI call not happen because the Steelers have the ball at their own 20-ish. What about the illegal pick in the EZ on Stevens' touchdown? The fact is, the right team won. It wasn't nearly as dominating a victory as any of the playoff wins, and it leaves a little bit of a bad taste in your mouth if you're a Steeler fan. But, you know what? Fuck it, the Steelers won the Super Bowl and I'll drink to that.

I don't care how it looked, but Billy Cowher finally won his Super Bowl and the Steelers finally put it all together for the first time in my lifetime. This is awesome.
