If I ever meet Daniel Murphy, I'm buying him dinner.
-
Hey, you only get to claim that if the Phillies end up with six or more runs.
-
Believe me, that and the fact that the Brewers are losing are the only things keeping me somewhat calm at the moment.
-
A - How do you not take Perez out after that last walk when it was obvious to everyone in the Tri-State area that he had nothing? B - How in God's name do you put Sanchez out there when that's the exact situation Joe Smith is in the pen for?
-
I wish the Cubs would give Bill Murray a semi-regular commentary job. I'd watch whenever he's on. Edit: When Oliver Perez shows his displeasure at a call, he's being immature. When Carlos Zambrano does the same, he's being fiery. Thanks, Rick Sutcliffe. Edit the second: Carlos Delgado is kinda good.

Lovely evening so far. If the Bucs hold on I'll be downright giddy.
-
Reyes gets his 200th hit of the season, a three-run triple that puts the Mets up by four. More than suitable, I think.
-
That almost seems more out of spite than anything else. This is, what, the fourth "OMG MUST WIN THIS IS WHAT WE GOT HIM FOR" game for Santana? The rhetoric's getting a little grating.
-
Easy, it's the most infuriating thing that could have happened in that situation. It's like Occam's Razor for Mets fans - the event that will cause the most teeth-gnashing anguish is the one that is bound to happen.
-
Maybe there's a reason Favre was handcuffed somewhat Week One and Two.
-
Over two games, that's four times in a row that the Mets have gotten first and second with no outs and failed to score. How Luis Castillo continues to get playing time is beyond me. Stick Marlon Anderson out there, for Christ's sakes.
-
That was pretty cool. Jets are gonna have to get lucky to win tonight and that's a decent start.
-
Me and the other four Mets fans in Columbus sure are. I really dislike when the Mets break out the Rally Towels. They've lost their mystique somewhat from being used by every team on God's green Earth. Edit: I'm not even angry anymore.
-
I'm not sure whether to smile or scowl at the thread subtitle. I do know that if the Mets don't reach the postseason Tug McGraw might just spin in his grave fast enough to tunnel out.
-
It's worth mentioning that the FOX Saturday lineup is not set in stone - I believe they said that five possible games were Yankees/Red Sox, Mets/Marlins, Cubs/Brewers, Indians/White Sox and Nationals/Phillies and that four of them will be broadcast, the four with playoff implications (or with the most important implications, I guess).
-
Thought I was cooked after the early games but the Steelers' overall crumminess saves me this week.
-
The game was over the second they failed to score in the seventh. You could set your fucking watch to it.
-
Kind of a subdued Flea Flicker in the Bengals game as Palmer turns the play into a soft touch pass for fifteen yards. Every time I've seen that play before it's either resulted in 40+ yards or complete failure.
-
Just noticed something - looking at the first post, me and Chazz apparently disagree on PIT/PHI but that's not shown in our differences.
-
Well, that was a fun twenty-four hours.

I'm happy the Rays made it solely because it gives me a team to root for on the American League side. Otherwise, the only participants would be teams towards which I'm indifferent (Angels), dislike (Red Sox) or outright hate (White Sox). Edit: And Pedro Martinez hits a two-run double to make me look like a schmuck. Oh well, I can deal with it.
-
Pedro appears to be little more than a liability these days. I guess either Brandon Knight or Jon Niese could fill in his slot and be reasonably effective, but then what do you do with Martinez? I can't see him coming out of the bullpen since his first inning is virtually always his worst. If the Mets were to make the playoffs, I'd honestly prefer that he be left off of the roster.

Productive evening. I was convinced the Mets had lost the game the second Reyes' throw hit the dirt, but thankfully some late offense made up for the three costly errors that occurred over the course of the game. Bullpen was pretty good tonight, with five pitchers combining for three innings with no earned runs.
-
Daniel Murphy is freaking amazing. Mets might just win this one despite some terrible, terrible defensive play.

Allow me for a moment to give my compliments to Gameday Mini. All the relevant information in a tiny window that I can squeeze in next to the MLB.tv screen. What with Brewers/Reds on local TV I'm able to keep track of all three games I'm interested in at once. I'm hard pressed to think of a more profound affect technology has had on my life.
