Has there been any research done regarding the amount of pitchers a team uses in one game and its effect on the team's chances of winning said game? It occurred to me that the Mets won last night even though they used eight pitchers - something I would imagine doesn't happen very often.

Shut out by the Nationals. I can't even think of a metaphor that more aptly embodies incompetence.
-
In fairness, the beginning of their collapse last year was a loss on Sept. 14. Yeah, but since they were three up I figured they'd hold off until there were five or six games left to make it as excruciating as possible. Downright courteous of them to throw it now and not waste our time.

Oh man. Even though I want the Eagles to win this game I'm hoping and praying that he didn't break the plane. I would die laughing.
-
And here I thought they'd wait until the last week of the season before rolling over and dying. Well, live and learn.

Forty-one runs scored between the Mets and Nationals in their two game series. Not exactly what I was expecting going in. Also, congrats to Reyes on breaking the Mets record for stolen bases. Also also, Elijah Dukes is a nitwit. But that's nothing new.

Aaron Heilman has a BAA of .313 for left-handed hitters. He's brought in to face four in a row, the last of which hits a two-run homer to tie the game and erase a six run lead. Baffling.

Alex Escobar on first for the Brewers, Rickie Weeks up to bat. Bottom of the ninth. Reds announcer: "I don't see why you wouldn't send Alex Escobar here! You just have to!" Escobar runs. Weeks lines out. Escobar is doubled off. I smile broadly.

Carlos y Carlos go back to back - that's Delgado's second shot of the evening and his fourth in two days. Dude's just unstoppable right now.
-
Wild game at Shea tonight. 7-7 in the bottom of the fourth with several lead changes - five of the Nationals runs came after a Tatis error which immediately summoned the presence of Meltdown Ollie.
-
Played just well enough for the win. And here I thought the Bengals being terrible would never pay off.
-
That's not a bad idea. 'Course, Glavine might have gotten in his ear by now that people actually attend Mets games and they aren't exactly prone to forgiveness.

Jets sign Jay Feely. http://www.thejetsblog.com/2008/09/08/jay-...ed-to-the-jets/ Guess Nugent's going to be out for a while.

I dunno if it's been said yet but I think that a beefed-up Javier Bardem could be an amazing Bane. Amazing Spanish actor who's already shown that he can play the calculating villain role with ease.

Sweet! Nice work! Win anything?

Have any of those player-delivered introductions ever been anything less than completely irritating? I'm having a hard time remembering any of them being even palatable.
-
Good lord. This is, what, the fourth severely underestimated injury of the year so far? I'm not terribly concerned about the rest of this year since the team has shown the ability to win without him - I'm more upset that they've gotta eat that $10.5 million of his contract for 2009. Blech.

Brewers/Phillies playing four games this week, couldn't come at a better time. 'Course I'd prefer that the Brew Crew get their shit together and take it to Philadelphia but even if they don't that's games towards the Wild Card for the Mets. I'll say home run number 250,000 is hit by Jorge Cantu. Why not?

Man, there isn't even anything fluky about this. Bears are just rolling right over Indianapolis. NFC North might be a three-team division after all.
-
Okay! Disaster averted, let's play the rest of the season.

Bless you, Mr. Delgado.
