None. There have been a few borderline calls but no clear mistakes.

It's a little known fact that the three main causes of stress in the United States are overworking, lack of sleep, and being a Mets fan.

Back to back complete games for Mike Pelfrey, this time allowing only one run with no walks. First time it's happened in thirteen years for the Mets. I'm still waiting for him to hit the innings wall but it's damn fun to watch in the meantime. It's really too bad the Dodgers became staggeringly incompetent at some point on Friday. Edit: No runs on thirteen hits. Stunning.

I'll go with eight wins for the Jets. Despite the injection of talent in several different areas of the team, I somehow get the sense that the roster isn't exactly gelling. As an example, in preseason action the offensive line has been racking up the false starts at a staggering rate. The chances of Thomas Jones having any sort of year depends on them getting their shit together. There's also the fact that team has about one and a half cornerbacks and the same amount of decent receivers. It just seems to me like they need one more year of development before they can be considered a playoff team. But hey, after last season eight wins will seem like a Super Bowl victory.

The Dodgers are worthless.

Luis Ayala has been darn good for Los Metropolatinos in limited action. If he ends up working out it'll be, what, the fifth serendipitous member on the twenty-five man roster? Not a bad ratio.

Hey! Ever wished you could read about J.D. and Stephen Drew gettin' it on? With each other? Well, here's your chance! http://wrennette.livejournal.com/tag/drewcest Deadspin is great for finding stuff like this, if nothing else.

Well, his count was getting up there anyway, and there's really no reason to push him on the first start after an injury, especially in a game like this. Hopefully Stokes will be able to finish the game out by himself.

Arguably the most embarrassing loss of the year today, and that's saying a lot.

Now Adam Dunn gets to be unappreciated in Phoenix instead of Cincinnati! http://www.ktar.com/sports/?nid=22&sid=930425 Apparently Arizona is giving up pitcher Dallas Buck and two players to be named later.

It's like a gymnastics-based hentai game come to life. Minus the rape. Well, maybe.

Dan Murphy strikes with his first career home run, a two-run pinch-hit job. Guy's putting up Jay Bruce numbers.

Letting go. Moving on. Et cetra, et cetra.

I remember reading a piece he had written back in high school, which deals with an organization that kills people simply by wishing death upon them. I've been thinking about the story recently and have been trying to track it down to no avail. If anyone knows that I'm talking about and can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it. Edit: Uh, this was supposed to be in Comic Books and Literature. Sorry about that.

In a statement to the press, the Russian ambassador to the Olympic games responded "I defeat all man. Soon I defeat real champion."

I'm leery. Although the still admittedly looks fantastic, the child they chose is older than I had pictured and I don't like the idea of name actors showing up in bit parts. That said, I'll probably see this the night it comes out.

Jets/Browns was about as exciting as a preseason game gets. New York goes up 24-20 late in the fourth quarter but as the game winds down, Cleveland manages to drive from their own forty to the Jets' five where they get four shots at the end zone, the last play occurring as time expired. Not a bad showing for the Jets, even if their offense was inconsistent (points came almost entirely on three plays - two 70+ yard touchdown passes and a punt return) and the defense was porous at best.
-
The one thing that occurs to me watching the Jets/Browns game is that Bernie Kosar is a complete nitwit.

I'm stunned. I never thought this would actually would go through. If nothing else, the season just got a whole lot more interesting. I'd be shocked if Pennington's still in green and white by the end of the day.

Last year definitely signified the end of his time as a productive hitter but I don't think anyone predicted that he'd put in one of the worst offensive seasons in history. Edit: I guess that's hyperbole considering that hitters like this have come before him. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bergebi01.shtml

I can't find any information on what the White Sox are giving up. Can't imagine it's much more than a bag of balls, though.
-
I think he's good for the most part, but when the game's not competitive and he goes off on ridiculous tangents he can be a little grating.

That does not seem like appropriate value. Isn't Casey Kotchman a free agent next year?

http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/?f...aft_type=junreg C: Raul Casanova 1B: Mike Jacobs 2B: Mark Grudzielanek SS: Ty Wiggington 3B: David Wright LF: Lastings Milledge CF: Aaron Rowand RF: David DeJesus SP: Mike Pelfrey SP: Brian Bannister SP: Scott Kazmir SP: A.J. Burnett SP: Jeremy Guthrie RP: Aaron Heilman Not a bad staff but that lineup is a bit sketchy. Kinda had to improvise on the middle of the infield, there.

As if you needed any more evidence that he was on a tear, Delgado slashes a two-RBI double down the left field line off of lefty specialist J.C. Romero to give the Mets a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth. One of the best wins of the year if they hold on.
