There's no way they're starting the second game of the Mets/Yankees doubleheader at eight. The first game's been on for nearly two hours and they've only got four and a third in. At this rate, they'll be lucky to be done at six, and I would love to see both teams get across town at that time of day in an hour, police escort or not. Also, Trot Nixon needs to be put down post haste. It was a decent idea but he's just been overmatched since joining the Mets.

That's accurate. The message in the film isn't exactly subtle but they don't shove it down your throat either. I saw the film today and loved it. Who woulda guessed that the best love story of the year would be between two robots? Just a beautiful, charming film from top to bottom, from the traditional opening short to the inspired ending credit sequence.

Oh man. An MGS4 mailbag would be all kinds of hilarious.

ICEMAN~! Solo homer from Easley puts the Mets up 5-4 in the top of the tenth. This'll be a pretty cool win if they hang on.

Er, why are all the posts regarding Randolph's firing missing? Did a miss a gigantic moronic argument while I was out today? Edit: Never mind, saw the new topic. Sorry 'bout that.

The advertisements (for other products and MLB.tv itself) that play in between the action are still pretty obnoxious and the functionality has taken a couple steps backwards in regards to switching between games on the MLB.tv window itself. Still, the price is the best you're gonna find for baseball service and the addition of 1.2k video quality is nice.

The timing of this is very, very strange. That's all the reaction I can manage right now.

So, is the playoff going to be on TV tomorrow at all? This would be pretty great to watch at work.
-
Well, I dislike them because of the pathetic display of their fans during last year's playoffs and the fact that their announce team may very well be the most grating on Earth. Also, their ballpark is goofy. Nothing against the players themselves, except for fake-hustling moron Eric Byrnes.

Well, a win's a win. Nice work, Carlos.

That's a little unfair considering they had Brandon Webb to deal with tonight, and that they scored six runs on the night of Wagner's last blown save. Don't take that as defense of the "Billy Wagner sucks" position, since I'm still extremely glad he's this team's closer. With a lesser pitcher in that slot the Mets would be in an even worse position right now.

It's never easy, is it?

Al, would you happen to know (or be able to find out) what the closest margin of victory for a four-game sweep is? I'd imagine four runs has happened at least once, but I'm curious as to how often.

Four straight losses to the Padres by a total of five runs. I'm at a loss for words. I'd say this was devastating, but luckily (?) my apathy has reached pre-2005 levels, so I can't work up much of anything.

Bad timing, Billy.

In most cases, pie. Hot apple pie a la mode is one of life's greatest joys.

Take that, seahorses.

Ah, now I get why the Mets insist on carrying three catchers, it's so Raul freaking Casanova can pinch hit. Sweet Christ is this team's bench pathetic right now. Even without the injuries to Alou and Church it'd still be pretty dismal. Edit: Hey, the Mets lost two to one in San Diego. That's new!
-
Frustrating ending to say the least, but the Mets didn't deserve to win that game. The Padres reasonably should have had five or six runs before that inning even started.

It's ridiculous how lucky Mike Pelfrey is getting tonight. He's allowed eleven baserunners but only one's scored and he's worked out of two bases loaded one out jams without allowing a single run from either. On one hand, not great to see that he's still allowing everyone and their brother on base, but on the other, his damage control seems to be coming along.
-
Anybody watching the draft? The Mets have picked up a 1B-OF (Ike Davis) and a SS (Reese Havens) with their first two picks. Admittedly, I know very little about baseball prospects, but it's still pretty interesting to watch and see what direction certain teams choose to go.

What a strange crowd reaction at Citizens Bank. Booing when Myers pitches around and then walks Griffey. I mean, I get that seeing the 600th home run would be pretty cool, but I'd want my team to win first. Also, I think it's pretty funny that Arroyo has pinch run for him two nights in a row now.

Pedro was serviceable tonight. Even just a quality start once every five games would be a welcome improvement.

Oliver Perez - State Certified Momentum Killer One out and six runs in. Something tells me I'm not staying up for this one.

The future is now! Kind of a rough task for his first start of the year, though.
