As cruel as it sounds, an emergency catcher is more useful.

Thank God. All Franco had left going for him was his presence as a "clubhouse leader", and I'm thankful that his history is no longer an excuse for his extremely poor performance.

Dammit. National League can't buy a win.

This isn't a very tight broadcast, is it? Edit: What is that, a Nerf microphone?

*pop up* Russel Martin: Shit! Hahaha.

Very nice, Carlos! The ballpark's goofy dimensions are making this game way more interesting.
-
Wow, that's just bad luck.

I agree, not worth the trouble at all. I can get brisket or something and have basically the same flavor with none of the mess or hassle.

This film had terrible sound editing. I didn't really take anything else from it.

Really cool win for the Mets tonight, particularly since both Atlanta and Philadelphia lost. Normally I'd worry about the lingering affects of a seventeen inning ballgame on a team, but since it's the second-to-last game before the All Star Break, I don't think it'll be a problem.

I get the feeling Cecil might be waiting for a while.

After scuffling his last few starts, Glavine turns in a gem (8 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 ER) and finally gets win 296, racking up a double and a two-RBI single in the process. Very nice to see a solid victory for the Metropolitans.

No, we're not.

Tee hee. The more I hear about this game, the more glad I am that virtually nobody's going to play it (in its current form, anyway).
-
Yeah. David Stern having to speak over the booing doesn't lend a whole lot of class to the ceremony.

Speaks volumes about this series that the Spurs just won and there hasn't been a single post about Game Four.

Classy. There's a pretty big clue as to how the Gatorade-chucking malcontent known as Elijah Dukes came to be.

Hot damn are the Mets awful right now. Can't even blame it on injury anymore since Alou is the only name that's out. Though the Braves have thankfully been floundering as well and are hanging around at 2.0 back, Philadelphia's finally got their shit together and is only 3.0 back now. I'm hoping this is just a vicious cold streak and not something catching up to the team. Just have to wait and see, I guess...

John Maine gives up three home runs on three straight pitches, one to Hong Chih fucking Kuo. Unbelievable.
-
Try Stub Hub. I'm considering that as a last resort, but the markup's kinda steep. Just my bad luck that Fireworks Night is the night I'm in Philadelphia, I guess.

Phillies fans - what's the scalping situation like at Citizens Bank Park? I was hoping to go the the Mets/Phils game on the 29th, but the website says it's sold out.

After being down 7-0 earlier in the game, a Casey Blake double ties it at 7-7 in the bottom of the eighth for the Indians. It woulda been 8-7 Cleveland if David Delucci hadn't been gunned down at home plate on the play. Great game so far.

Hey, at the Epilogue of The Pooka Prince, how in the hell do you defeat those green slime monsters? I'm not able to progress through the stage because I can't figure out how to kill them.

I didn't expect the Mets to go into Detroit and win tonight after being swept at home by the Phils, and I sure as hell didn't expect Sosa to pitch eight scoreless while allowing only four hits. Really nice victory.
