Yeeeeeeeeah, who called it? Make sure to have your umbrellas ready while browsing game websites this week, to protect you from the collective pissing and moaning about DKC from the gaming press. In case you didn't get the memo, you're not allowed to like the game, since Miyamoto once expressed disgust over it. I've already seen the game described as varying degrees of overrated in three seperate stories.

Where can I bet on this? I'd put some money down on the Mets winning 89 or more.
-
You mean the ones that lost 21 straight to start the season? Yeah, that would have made for a competitive series. Al already covered this, but you're clearly thinking of another team. The '88 Mets went 15-6 in their first 21 games.
-
Ah well. Maybe I should have gone with '88.
-
Absolutely. One of the main reasons I'm so excited about the series finally reaching the second part is because of how many incredible battles there are to look forward to. Naruto/Orochimaru in particular is going to be a delight - I've wanted to see the "tidal wave of snakes" attack animated ever since I saw it in print.
-
Hahaha, that's a good point. I'd imagine that, in normal circumstances, it might be six to nine months until they actually get to that point. I don't think they're going to be patient not seeing Sasuke for that long.

Aside from the extraneous stuff (the "keyword" interludes, some lame humor, and the scenes after the credits), I loved it. I am a little confused as to why they chose to blow the biggest post-timeskip moment of the manga on the intro of the first episode, though - I'd imagine those who have only watched the anime were really confused as to what was going on. In any case, the animation was terrific, the new music was fantastic (with the exception of the closing theme, which is just okay), and the discrepencies from the manga that were there were minor and actually made sense. A great start to the new series.

Atsushi Inaba, the former head of the Clover Studio, is now head of a game development company named SEEDS. http://kotaku.com/gaming/top/from-clover-t...-gig-236810.php This is great news if only because it means the force behind Okami and Viewtiful Joe didn't disappear when Clover did.

I've gotta agree. I'm not enamored enough with the motion control to re-buy the game for the Wii, and I don't think there are enough Wii owners who don't have a PS2 to make the port worthwhile. Actually, looking at the Wii release date list, I don't see a single Capcom game in the works. The only information I can find is on the rumored Okami port and some "mystery" game.

Took advantage of the Everybody Votes Channel. Roses, Dogs, and 22nd Century. Also, the question I suggested was "Which franchise do you prefer - Mario or Zelda?" Admittedly kinda obvious, let's see if it gets picked up.

http://cfs1.tistory.com/upload_control/dow...DAwMDAwMDAuanBn I'd like to think that the translation is accurate, but the use of OMG and other slang undercuts its authenticity somewhat.

2164 3973 7697 0575 I don't have a lotta time right now, but I'll make sure to add people later tonight.

Yeah, I'll watch it now and again while channel flipping. It's pretty entertaining, but the awful translations and the fact that they seem to keep showing the same five episodes over and over again keep me from really enjoying the program.
-
I'll go with the '73 Mets.

I like the Chan Ho Park deal a lot more now that I've learned that only $600k of it is guaranteed. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-m...p&type=lgns That's a hell of a lot better than three million guaranteed, which he'd be more than deserving of he actually returns to circa 2000 form and throws around 200 innings.
-
The Mets apparently have signed or are about to sign Chan Ho Park to a one year, three million dollar contract. http://www.nydailynews.com/front/breaking_...1p-418081c.html http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/Engnews/20...09143639E0.html Not a bad signing, but I think that's enough mediocre->average arms for one system. Surely Randolph can now create a halfway decent rotation without having to bring in Mark Redman or Trachsel. Edit: Confirmed. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?i...ce=MLBHeadlines

Maybe they're figuring he'd have another good year, wise up, and ask for a fortune for the 2008 season or beyond.
-
Fuck. I'm very surprised and disappointed than Ilan ended up winning, not only because of how whiny he got near the end of the show but because his final meal had two mediocre dishes, whereas Marcel's only had one. I really don't get the logic in that one. Now that I think about it, the only time I've agreed with a final decision on Top Chef or Project Runway was on the first season of Top Chef. Ah well.

I've been waiting for someone to do "Kiss From a Rose", and that gentleman did not disappoint. I like him quite a bit.

I've gotten a lot further and a lot better at EBA and I'm just now noticing how terrible the lifebar system is. In most music games, your bar doesn't go down unless you hit a note incorrectly. That's for pussies. EBA's lifebar goes down constantly, fast enough that you can lose a significant chunk of your bar even if you full combo a stage. Blech. If they wanted to up the difficulty, they could have just punished mistimed note strikes more severely. To have it be like the arcade version of Gauntlet Legends is infuriating.
-
Holy crap. The sound sync isn't actually that bad, right? Some of it's YouTube's fault, right?
-
Okay, I am outright cheering for Marcel at this point. Ilan and Elia were fucking whiny as hell and making up bullshit reasons to try and get him kicked off of the competition. He's been through so much shit on this show, and he hit his stride just in time to make it to the finale. Marcel vs. Ilan is going to be a great final battle, if only because they can't stand each other at all. Go, Master of Molecular Gastronomy!

Cubs signed Cliff Floyd. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=2741448 I'm not surprised that he signed with Chicago, but it is strange to see that he'll probably be relegated to backup duty. Guess it's for the best considering how injury prone he is. Also... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?sectio...&id=2741728 Mets agree to a three-year deal with Willie Randolph. I really like this deal, as I think he's a very good coach and will only get better with more experience.

That was a nice touch. At first I thought it was editted in and found it kinda dumb, then I remembered that there was a whole brass section standing right there. I don't think anyone on screen even raised an eyebrow at that.
