Well, he's already got Steve Trachsel completely beat. Edit: I love Carlos Beltran. That graphic introspective on his personal life was a tad unnecessary, though. Edit the second: Wright gets his first hit of the CS in style, banging a solo shot over the left field wall to make the game 2-1 Mets. Edit whatever: DELGADO~! Three run homer puts the Mets up 5-2. Damn he's been incredible.

Bump. After watching the story on 60 Minutes regarding this, I'm pretty sure these guys are getting railroaded.
-
God I love Kotaku. Also, I wonder how many times Jack Thompson has been found in contempt of court.
-
Damn, that was too close. The Dolphins nearly snatched the win away after offering it to the Jets on a silver platter.
-
That's the first time I've actually seen someone take advantage of Polamalu's flowing mane. It's not a foul, so you'd think tailing players would grab a big lock of hair whenever possible.
-
Oh my God did the Jets look bad in the first half. If it weren't for Harrington coughing up the ball on every other play, Miami would be probably be up 14-0 at this point. Edit: Hey, anyone remember that ESPN commercial where Reggie Bush suckered his teammate or whatever into picking him first in a Fantasy Draft over Larry Johnson? Yeah.

Placido Polanco, I think.

I'm pretty sure Cub fans would be delighted with what Yankee fans call failure.

Houshmandzadeh makes a hell of a TD reception to put the Bengals up 7-0 after nearly a quarter and a half of defense and field positioning. I'm really amazed by how well the Saints are doing. If they end up with a win today, I really think they have to be considered as a legitimate playoff contender.

I'm really disappointed in the Mets' play so far, and am legitimately amazed that they're down two games to one. There's no need to enter panic mode yet, though. Neither Anthony Reyes or Oliver Perez are particularly good pitchers, but Perez seems to have more potential for greatness. I'm not expecting the CG shutout he threw against Atlanta, but I do think he'll be good for five innings of occasionally shaky, occasionally breathtaking work. Darren Oliver's amazing performance last night is incredibly important, as he gave the bullpen, which will probably be responsible for at least three innings tonight, much-needed time to rest. As for tomorrow, I trust Glavine on short rest much more than I would Weaver on short rest. It's about time for Jeff's luck to catch up with him anyway. If he completes another start without giving up a run, I'll eat my hat.
-
Well, if there's one positive thing I can take from this game, it's that Darren Oliver was fantastic. Kinda scary to think that the Mets' World Series hopes rests partly on the shoulders of Oliver Perez, but whaddaya gonna do.
-
Hoo boy. Yeah, X-Play's the only show I'm concerned about at this point. The rest of the network (with the occasional exception of Cinematech) is completely worthless.
-
Good lord. I hope Oliver's good for five innings tonight, 'cause the rest of the bullpen is anything but rested.
-
Never thought I'd miss the mediocre defense Xavier Nady provided.
-
Okay, this is touching and all, but I want to watch the Mets now. There we go.
-
Holy shit. Didn't see that coming. The Tigers are fucking terrifying. At this point, it's their championship to lose.

I really wish you wouldn't say "you Mets fans" when it's only NYU and naiwf that are pursuing this retarded argument. Damn, now I know how Cena's Writer must feel sometimes...

Infuriating game. Carpenter was the biggest concern going into the contest and the Mets basically jumped all over him, scoring five runs in five innings. Maine's start was disappointing, but hell, he pitched virtually as well as Carpenter, giving up three earned in four innings. It was amazing the shift the Mets' offense took when the Cardinals bullpen came in. All of a sudden, guys are swinging at first pitches and barely even challenging a pen that was put into a tough position. On the other hand, we have the Mets relievers, who displayed some of the worst pitch selection I've ever witnessed. Three times Mota and Wagner had their opponents 0-2, and the results? Two-run triple that only stayed in the park thanks to the efforts of Shawn Green, solo HR, RBI double. It's as though the entire team said, "Okay, we've got the lead, let's get this over with." Really, really disappointing. In any case, I'm not going to get too upset over it, since the Mets were basically slated for a loss tonight anyway. Six innings of work from Trachsel tomorrow should be enough to rejuvenate the bullpen, so let's hope that he can get that far against a spotty Cardinals offense. Mets will still take this series, though I'm thinking it might take 'em six games now.

Scott fucking Spezio. Damn it, Guillermo, you shoulda stuck with that changeup. Edit: Of course, they have to turn Valentin around to his considerably weaker right side before he can get his first postseasn hit.

Somewhat on topic...I might have to get me one of these shirts...

Delgado's second home run of the night makes it 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth. Man, for all the talk about Beltran, it's the other Carlos that's been having a phenomenal postseason thus far.
-
Well, that answers a lot of my questions about tonight's game. A Delgado home run puts the Mets up 3-0 in the bottom of the first. Edit: Someone needs to put together a GIF of the first base umpire trotting towards the mound and waving his arms girlishly above his head.

It's pretty rare to see Communists representing the more appealing side of an argument.

Oh man, he was so safe.
