Tom Glavine has pitched thirteen consecutive scoreless innings and has just been amazing. At the same time, I've gotta admit that Weaver looked really good out there until Beltran's home run and Delgado's double, that latter of which made it clear that his night was over. Terrific defense and another all-around superb pitching performance from the Metropolitans, who face a tough challenge in Chris Carpenter tomorrow. Let's see if John Maine can add to his ever-growing reputation with an impressive start.

There are at least five people in that clubhouse who are the "heart and soul" of the team. I wouldn't put too much stock into it. I <3 Carlos Beltran.

Hey, EB's opening time wasn't clearly posted anyplace that I could find, hence the phone call. In any case, I opted to place a pre-order with my local independent game store instead. The guy I talked to said they ordered fifty, but how many they'll actually get is anyone's guess. They're not even requiring deposits, which is pretty damn cool.

I think the Beltran contract is going to be the benchmark for big-name outfielders (which I guess Soriano qualifies as now). Don't be surprised if he ends up getting sixteen or seventeen million a year.

I've been trying to call my local EB all day to see when they open tomorrow, but I've gotten nothing but a busy signal. Good sign for Nintendo, bad sign for me. I wonder if they'll give special consideration to those who have pre-ordered Wii games already. Edit: That would be a no. I finally got through to EB and found out that they open at 10, but since I wouldn't be able to get down there that early, the person I spoke to told me in so many words that I wouldn't be able to get a pre-order.

I'm glad that they finally kicked DiFelice to the curb and that Floyd will be available in some capacity, but I'm curious as to why they picked up Anderson Hernandez of all people with that free spot. I guess they wanted a backup infielder besides Woodward and Franco, as Woodward's only decent in the field and Franco shouldn't play any position besides first. God knows they won't be getting any offensive production out of Hernandez. Edit: Also, I love the two-page cover of today's Daily News, even if it makes Willie Randolph look like Snidley Whiplash.

Believe me, I don't want Oliver Perez anywhere near the mound in any playoff series, but with Glavine tradtionally pitching poorly on short rest, Randolph doesn't have a lot of choice in the matter.

Yeah, last night's entry was pretty disappointing. None of the challenges of even the locales were all that exciting. It was pretty funny watching the teams try and figure out how to row a boat, though. Peter's a complete asshole. What makes him think that a woman with a busted prosthetic leg is better suited to all these challenges?

I suspected as much, but still, pretty disappointing. I like the tandem of Floyd/Chavez a lot better than I do Chavez/Milledge or Chavez/Tucker.

I'm amazed that the only game in this series with an announced time is the first one, on Wedensday. And I had forgotten until just now that they're all being covered by FOX. Blech. In any case...Mets in five. I can see Carpenter possibly giving the lineup fits, but I don't think anyone else on that staff is a major concern. Their lefties are both relievers and neither are very good. Pujols is obviously a problem and Edmonds and Rolen are no lightweights, but overall, this lineup pales in comparison to the Dodgers'. Again, I'm somewhat nervous about sending Oliver Perez or Dave Williams out there in Game 4, but I think that's just as big a risk for the Mets as sending Weaver to the mound is for the Cardinals. When are the rosters due for this round of the playoffs? Is it the morning of the first game?

Again, I like both teams in the series, but will pull for the A's in this case. I'm terrified of the Tigers' pitching, and don't want them as the opposition should the Mets make the World Series.

The BCS commercial that just aired on FOX was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on that network, and that's saying a lot.

Terrific game and just a magnificent performance from the Mets over the entire series. Virtually the entire team looks great going into the NLCS. I'm really relieved that they closed it out tonight, as sending Oliver Perez out there in Game 4 could have been damn ugly. I've still got a few concerns about this rotation stretched over a seven-game series, but with the way the offense and defense continually came through over the past few days, I don't think possibly shaky starting pitching alone is enough to sink this ship. Let's go Mets!
