Didn't realize until about two minutes before the game was set to start that the Mets were playing a doubleheader today. A conventional one, no less. Six hours of Mets baseball on my day off...what could be better? I'm really pleased with the Twins' recent success and hope they make the playoffs one way or another. I was hoping that the Twins would capture the AL Wild Card while the Reds took the NL's, but Cincy's chances look pretty bleak at this point. I'd be pretty happy with the Marlins taking that spot, though.

Is it just me, or is the Item World particularly hard this time around? Maybe I'm just getting bad maps.

Sure, but Pujols missed some time with that abdominal injury. I guess there isn't a cut and dry case for either player, but I'd still give my vote to Pujols.

Pujols is the MVP. He's the best hitter in the league by a mile, and even though Beltran plays a difficult defensive position and plays it very well, it's not enough to make him a more deserving candidate than Albert. If Pujols had the kind of talent surrounding him that Beltran does, the Cards would be 15 up on the Reds right now.

Um, wow. His performance thus far hasn't been great, admittedly, but I didn't think management was that low on him. Maybe his attitude is rubbing them the wrong way. And Cliff Floyd being more injured than expected doesn't surprise me in the slightest. If I didn't know better, I'd think his body consisted solely of peanut brittle.

What I'm concerned about is what the Mets would have to give up for him; outside of a few pitchers and a couple position players low in the system, there aren't a whole heck of a lot of prospects for Minaya to barter with.
