Wouldn't be surprised to see Heilman and maybe someone else go for a starter the White Sox don't want anymore.

Didn't plan on seeing this in the first place, but it'll be a shame if the film turns out to be as bad as it sounds and drags Paul Giamatti down with it. From American Splendor and Sideways to The Lady in the Water and The Ant Bully. Yeesh. The plot's apparent silliness isn't that surprising, considering how ridiculous The Village turned out to be.

Beltran's Grand Slam makes it 7-2 in the top of the 7th, and helps continue the trend of Pelfrey having decent starts with tremendous run support.

"This movie had a story advisor?" "Yes, I advise you to mash together two incomprehensible plots and hire the most annoying cracker you can find." -------------------------------------- "Haha, coming up on your mudflaps. People have such cute names for sex." And in the same vein... "My well-timed Peterbilt is rhytmically nudging that sweet honey pot of yours..." -------------------------------------- "Nooooo...it can't beeeee....you're deaaaaaad!" "Nooo Iiii'm noooooot!" -------------------------------------- That episode also has a bunch of exchanges that can't really be expressed well in print, such as the eyeglasses-cleaning bit ("What's on these things?!") and the whole thing with the patent papers ("Saaam, how do you spell 'patent'?").

Double post.

Goin' to the Mets/Reds games on both Wedensday and Thursday. Martinez was scheduled to start Wedensday's game, but that's not happening, which I'm pretty annoyed about. At least I'll get to see Glavine on Thursday. It'll be my first time seeing the Mets in person this year, and it'll be in a gorgeous ballpark no less. Really looking forward to it.

God bless Wrigley Field. 11-5 Mets after Beltran hits the inning's second Grand Slam.

The music games I'm really into are Beatmania IIDX and Pop'n Music, only the former of which has seen a stateside release in the guise of Beatmania for the PS2. That game sucked very badly and pretty much guaranteed the death of US Beatmania console releases. I've heard that Pop'n Music had a US arcade release years ago, but I've yet to see one or even meet anyone who has played on the storied machine. These games definitely still have a bit of an underground feeling to them, thanks in part to the above-mentioned lack of availability and the fact that there's only 10-15 IIDX machines and maybe 5 Pop'n Music machines available for public play within the country. Most of the road trips I make are journeys to arcades that have these games, such as Tokyo Game Action in Winchendon, MA (www.tokyogameaction.com).

God damn it. This sucks.

Holy God, what a finish that was. Definitely worth sticking around for.

Well, now Italy at least is getting some good chances. The last two shots were mere millimeters from going in.

Mets beat up on their former setup man Roberto Hernandez in the eighth, taking the lead and eventually winning the game 7-6.

I did not see this result coming at all. Brazil looked as though they were going to roll right over France coming into this game, but it's not to be as France makes it to the semis and fills the last spot in a tournament that now solely consists of European teams. Great game, and good on France for the upset.

I don't think most of us would care, really...

Lo Duca DHs while Castro catches. Now that's making good use of the DH spot. Almost makes up for the mind-boggling decision to have Wright designate hit last night.

Man, am I glad I have this game on mute at the moment. The word "clutch" was probably used seven or eight times in the past few minutes if I don't miss my guess. Well, if things go the way they're looking to go, at least this'd be a siginficantly less embarassing game for the Mets. Even if they don't take a game in Yankee Stadium, I'm not going to go into panic mode. The second half of the year looks to be siginifcantly easier schedule-wise and, at the very worst, the Mets will be going into it with an eight game division lead.
-
Actually, it's 2-2. Edit: Well, it was. Edit the second: You will see no finer play this year than the one that just robbed David Wright of an RBI double.

That's a great set of episodes.

When I traded in my PS2 at EB, they checked for damage on the exterior but didn't test its functionality at all.

The headling in the New York Post tomorrow will read "'BOUT TIME".

Mushroom Samba. An entire episode basically dedicated to Ed + Blaxaploitation + The silliest high-speed chase you'll ever see makes for my second favorite anime episode ever, behind only Samurai Champloo's Baseball Blues.

That Willie Randolph, he sure knows how to manage a pitching staff.

You can find it over at Amazon for about $27, and yeah, it's the complete series.

That error was just as much the first baseman's fault as it was Steed's. The way he reached for that ball, you'd think his feet were planted in concrete or something. Real shame to see that play decide the series.
