Reading the story, it appears as though Jose Valentin and Chris Woodward will split time at second, with Kaz still getting a start every once in a while. Either would be an improvement over Matsui, so I'm fine with either starting until they figure out a long-term solution.

Pretty sure this hasn't been posted yet... http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/new...t=.jsp&c_id=nym This is truly a day for celebration. What would make it perfect is if Keppinger were called up and given a shot at the job.

Hernandez has been taken out of the game, thankfully after having an okay start (5 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 1 HR). Besides the home run, Orlando put on an encouragingly good performance.
-
Damn it, I wish I could watch the Mets game live instead of just keeping track of it with Gameday. I really wanna see how they scored four runs with four infield hits.
-
I still think the Phillies have a better shot at it than the Braves. Of course, I don't think either of them are winning the division, for reasons which should be obvious. Orlando Hernandez makes his first start as a Met today. I have a feeling that we'll be finding out fairly quickly why the Diamondbacks were willing to take so little in exchange for him.

25 & 26 are the ending Hideaki Anno wanted though. (I'm sure he didn't want the shite animation) End of Evangelion, in a way, is Anno mocking the fans. I personally prefer End, though ep 26 does have its merits, if 25 had somewhat set it up. And End has some real moments of fucking animated majesty. I can respect Anno's guts in taking the series in a completely different direction with its finale and found the ideas he conveyed in those episodes fairly interesting. What annoyed me is that he completely hijacked Evangelion to convey said ideas. It's like the previous twenty-four episodes didn't even need to exist. He could have made a short, three episode series with much less developed characters and it would have had about the same impact. Also, may I just say that the scene in End with Komm, Susser Tod playing in the background is one of my favorite in all of anime.
-
Episodes 25 and 26 are the series' "ending". Do yourself a favor and just watch End of Evangelion instead. It takes the place of those two episodes. What I've seen of Wolf's Rain, I've liked, but not enough to track down the whole series. It's got that Cowboy Bebop art style that I enjoy, but the plot's kinda bizarre and incomprehensible even by anime standards.

My local independent game store is taking orders, but that's it as far as I know.

Thanks, that's helpful. Maybe his 2005 starts weren't that much better than the rest of his career, but I'm pretty sure he'd still definitely be a step above a Jeremi Gonzalez or a Dave Williams or a Jose Lima.
-
Kinda late replying to this, but anyway... It's worth mentioning that the majority of those starts came in his first two years, where all but one of the 19 games he played in were starts. He posted a 6.75 and a 5.46 ERA in 2003 and 2004, respectively. Unfortunately, I can't find his game by game logs for 2005, but I can say with some certainty that his 2005 starts were significantly better than his career line.

Seems like kind of a useless trade, really. At the best, Williams is only marginally better than Jeremi Gonzalez. The front office seems to have no confidence whatsoever in Soler despite a pretty good first start, and apparently don't want to wait for Maine to come back and see if he could fill a spot in the rotation. Of course, this flurry of activity proves just how determined the Mets are to not allow Heilman to ever, ever make a start.

You can only sell things through Amazon and eBay that you own. This story insinuates that you'd only own a license to play the game and that the game itself still belongs to Sony. Because of that, you would not be allowed to sell the game, since you don't own it. And I'm guessing Sony would penalize game stores that break the rules by not allowing them to sell Sony products anymore. Not that they'd sell a whole lot of PS3s should this come true, anyway...

Holy shit. Jose Reyes is going to destroy his power numbers from last year. Three-run homer in the second ties the game at three.
-
I suppose. I just really fear that Hernandez will be battling nagging injuries for the rest of the year or miss significant time because of them. And call me an optimist, but I think Minaya should have waited to see how Soler pitches tonight before making the deal. Also, I didn't realize until just now that John Maine came with Julio to the Mets when they dealt Benson. That makes me feel quite a bit better about the initial deal.
-
Well...I can't say I'm delighted with the trade, since Julio has had some decent outings recently and Hernandez's health is in question, as has already been stated several times in this thread. I'm happy that Minaya has finally made a move in an effort to fix the rotation, but I'm definitely not convinced that it's the right one to make.

At $10, it's definitely worth a try. I rarely like turn-based RPGs, but I loved DQVIII.
-
If that turns out to be true (and pertains to sales on Amazon and eBay and the like as well), then I'm probably never buying one. I rarely hang onto games for more than a couple months.
-
They were chanting "bullshit" at the ump's call that Utley was trying to get out of the way of that pitch. They were wrong, of course; Utley obviously drew the bat back before being hit. Not that I'm complaining, but why in God's name do you try to steal second in this situation?
-
Hey, he had a signifcantly better at bat than Reyes.
-
Floyd's drawn two intentional walks tonight. I'd like to say that it's respect for his abilities that caused the walks, but it's much more likely that Manuel realizes just how badly Matsui sucks.
-
Yeah, that's pretty bad. Still, they have nine months to go before it's released. I'm sure it won't like as laughable by that point.
-
You're right, Bell doesn't have four RBI on the night. He has five.
-
Yeah, sure. A small portion of the fanbase has embraced sabermetrics, and they've 'ruined' baseball. Right.
-
That does sound pretty cool. Unfortunately, a quick overview of the store's site shows that it doesn't mention anything regarding the engraving.
