Brett Favre has been more of a liability than an asset so far this year. It's pretty frustrating having to watch this while Pennington is playing well down in Miami. Speaking of which, thanks to the Dolphins the Jets' game in Buffalo has become much more important. Makes the loss in Oakland sting that much more, though.

Thank God the Buckeyes lost. Now if I decide to head down to campus the odds of my car being flipped over and set on fire are actually pretty low.

Don't play mocking music over the announcement of the Rays' lineup, Philadelphia. Not during the World Series.

My FOX affiliate switched to Gianters/Niners. That's pretty embarrassing.

31-7 Rams. This is so much fun to watch. To think I was upset earlier in the day about getting this game.
-
21-7 Rams with two minutes to go in the first. All glory to Haslett, I guess.

Tonight's Jackets game went the same way as two of the first three - jump out to an early lead and then the team seems to panic in their efforts to maintain it. I don't like being negative after a win, but the opposing team should not be allowed to sniff victory after being down 3-0 in the second period. I fear for Pascal Leclaire. It wouldn't surprise me if last season ends up being a career year but I was hoping the regression to the mean would be relatively mild. Fifteen goals allowed in the first four games is not a good sign.

I think FOX can push the whole Tampa Bay Magic Season story well enough to draw in some extra viewers and Philadelphia's a big enough market that the ratings won't be horrible. Not great, but respectable.

1 - Buckeyes. Not even close. It's bordering on constant mass hysteria. 2 - Blue Jackets. Hockey or not, the team's been embraced by the city and they've stuck with it even though the nonstop mediocrity. Enthusiasm is starting to wane a bit, though, and another bad season might kill a lot of interest. 3 - Browns. Slightly more popular than the Bengals despite Cincinnati being a bit closer. 4 - Bengals. A couple years ago they were the more popular squad, but they've lost some ground thanks to last year's awful season and Cleveland's surprisingly good 07-08. 5 - Steelers. Plenty of frontrunners, sure, but a lot of 'em became Steeler fans when the Browns became the Ravens. Doesn't make any sense to me, but hey. 6 - Cavaliers. Probably in third or even second during their finals run but enthusiasm has waned to say the least. 7 - Indians. What can I say, it's not much of a baseball town. 8 - Reds. Kinda hard to tell which baseball team is more popular since there's so little support seen for either squad around the city, so this is more of a guess than anything. 9 - Crew. As good as the team is, the only people that care about it are the twenty thousand or so that fill the stadium night after night. Shame, really.

Folk pulled up. That wasn't a legitimate block. That being said, it's still a dumb move.

The end of this game is a complete clusterfuck. Just kick the goddamn ball already.

Won the tiebreaker so I thankfully don't have to sweat out the end of this Cowboys/Cardinals game. Not a bad week overall, even if I lose both night games and DAL/ARZ.
-
Goddamn Tuck Rule. Cowboys are amazingly lucky they're only down 7.

Well, the Redskins' momentum is completely dead. And the Falcons still win! Pretty great set of early games.

Schaub with the QB draw touchdown to put Houston up with three seconds left. Nice work, Texans!

It's a good thing the Jets' defense has been solid today since Favre's three turnovers (two interceptions and a fumble) could have really fucked them over.
-
Again with the throwbacks for the Jets. Gettin' kinda annoying, but if they keep winning with 'em I guess there really isn't anything to complain about.
-
With eight seconds left the Wolverines miss a 23 yard field goal that would have tied the game. Good lord.

Thank God I got the Big Ten Network this week. This is great.

Jackets pull out a heart-stopper as Nash plugs one over the goalie's left shoulder in overtime, securing a 5-4 victory after the team had surrendered a two goal lead with less than four minutes to go in regulation. Okay performance overall - offense actually looked pretty good, but dumb penalties and confused defense negated the efforts made on that side of the puck. Leclaire performed admirably considering the amount of penalties he had to help kill and the overall porousness of the defense. I'm hoping that since there are so many new faces on the roster it's just a matter of the team gelling, and that over the course of the year said gelling will result in less penalties and more solid defense. Still, nothing to complain about tonight. Great win.

That is going to be hilarious. Can't wait to see it emerge on YouTube. Once again, everyone in the city seems convinced that this is the year the Blue Jackets make the playoffs. On the plus side, the disappointment that is likely bound to result will make it much easier to get tickets later in the season.

Don't have to go to a bar to watch the Jets this week! Whoo! Kind of an important stretch coming up for the team here as they've got three games in a row they should win (after this they're at Oakland and then home against the Chiefs) before heading to Buffalo. A 5-2 record going into that contest would be really, really nice.
