Heel Characters That You Agreed With?

I tend to agree with the heel quite often. This isn't QUITE that, but I just remembered; during a Lita/Stratus feud, with Lita as the face and Stratus as the heel, the crowd was doing the "slut!" chant, and Stratus did the "hey, don't call Lita a slut" thing. Thing is, this was right after the whole rigamorole with Edge and Matt Hardy, so the crowd WAS chanting at Lita. Oh, and during Kurt Angle's medal challenge thing, the whole thing with Eugene was mind-numbing. I was sympathizing with Kurt's exasperation the whole time and Eugene came off as a massive retarded dick.
  2. I'd love to agree but: Lucky Number Slevin Sin City Black Hawk Down all killer movies and he was just fine in them And while most shit on it, I still think "O" was a damn fine movie. Mekhi Pfeifer overacted (which is to say Mekhi Pfeifer was in the movie), but Hartnett played a good manipulative asshole.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Frank Zappa, specifically the Black Page #2.
  4. I'd be down for a cover song tournament if you did one.

Signs You Are a Wrestling Fan

I'll refer to myself as a "mark" for something/someone. Also I'm going to a wrestling show tomorrow.

    American Idol Season 8

Anoop reminds me a bit of Ed from a few episodes of Scrubs. And I <3 him for that.

    South Park Season 13

I thought Kenny got a girlfriend back when they went to the rainforest. Although he also died in the next episode and every episode prior 'cept one, so fuck it I guess. Baay-BAAAY!

    Underappreciated quotations

My favorite quote ever: "We only know what we're told, and that's little enough. And for all we know it's not even true." -Guildenstern, from Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead"

    Keanu Reeves appreciation

The best movie with Keanu in it is "Parenthood."

    Watchmen

Before he was cast in The Dark Knight I would've said cast Aaron Eckhart as Veidt.
  13. Heh. They took an exchange almost word for word from "Bonnie and Clyde."

    American Idol Season 8

Five'll get you ten that during the overblown finale they do a heee-LARIOUS "Anoop Dogg Millionaire" clip.

    American Idol Season 8

They want to cash in on Slumdog Millionaire by putting an Indian guy on their reality show. Also, Anoop his hilarious.

    American Idol Season 8

I like that she aped Jorge's "I think in Spanish when I'm excited" bit. Funny stuff.
  17. Fair enough. I was sure I was going to hate it because things like the whole government plot annoy me more than make me laugh. But I still find the two main characters improbably likeable, and everything with NPH was great.

    American Idol Season 8

Boooo. At least Anoop should make it now.

    American Idol Season 8

Blech. Saying this song is by Christina Agulera is like saying "Hallelujah" is by Jeff Buckley. Lea Salonga sang it first, and better.
  20. "Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay" was surprisingly good.

    American Idol Season 8

I would've rather had Normund Gentle make the wild card round, but Tatiana is enough of a train wreck to make things entertaining.

    American Idol Season 8

Hopefully either Gentle or Tatiana are on the Wildcard round, I need me some entertainment on this bland-ass season.

    American Idol Season 8

For me the season ended when Normund Gentle was voted off.

    Watchmen

Ok, the good things about the movie: -Incredibly faithful to the comic. Not panel-for-panel like "Sin City" but more than I thought it would be. They kept the stuff I wanted to see in the movie ( ), and the stuff they took out wasn't particularly missed. -Rorschach. His arc was almost entirely in tact, and the only significant change was actually pretty cool. Jackie Earle Haley did a great job for the most part, and the mask looked fantastic. The whole time you could see the ink blots changing shape, but it wasn't so that it was distracting. There was one especially cool part where . -They took probably the hardest thing to translate, Dr. Manhattan, and made it one of the best parts of the movie. Not once did it look cheesy or fake, and Billy Crudup was good for the most part. And . -There was a GREAT opening credit sequence set to "The Times They Are a-Changin'" by Bob Dylan that summed up the history of the Watchmen universe. -The Comedian was perfectly cast. The not so good things about the movie: -I dunno if it was the sound not being mixed quite right or the actors worrying too much about getting the characters' voices 100% right all the time, but sometimes the dialogue was a little hard to make out. The important lines were clear and all, but entire parts of conversations sounded like they were doing Tea Leoni impressions. -Some of the lines taken right from the comic don't quite sound good when spoken aloud. It's mostly Dreiberg that suffers from this. -For consisting of so many good songs, this was a TERRIBLE soundtrack. The opening credits song was great, but then there was "99 Luftballoons" used at a bit of an odd place, but it sort of worked. Then there was "Hallelujah." In some cases the songs weren't bad, but just called a little too much attention to themselves ( ). Kudos for them using "All Along the Watchtower" in the exact place it's used in the book, but overall they did a terrible job with the soundtrack. For now I'd give it a 4/5. I might go a little higher after I've had time to process it a bit more.
