He won the US Title? I meant a major singles title (RAW, SD, or ECW world title), not that prop that never goes anywhere in the big scheme of things.
-
Hardy wins, I thought for sure there was going to be a last minute near fall there at the end. Not a bad match, I liked how it built with a new guy coming out every five minutes and the match changing up a bit because of it everytime. So far so good on the new concept working for me. Poor Miz had a hell of a hardway blood loss, and didn't even get a few minutes worth of being interim champion, as everyone got a pinfall except him. How aprapro (sp?) is it, though, that Matt Hardy wins his first major singles championship OPENING a ppv.
-
Eh, it was three weeks build, and I like the idea of the scramble matches, so I can't say the booking has been lackluster here. Jericho/HBK for sure has been a great build as well. Dare I say, considering it was only a three week build, I think they did better than they normally do in those situations with this card. ECW scramble opens the show.....doesn't surprise me.
-
He's right though.....as it is now, no ppvs, with the exception of probably Mania, are being given a stronger card over another ppv of the calendar year. Thus, "saving" a big title win for Survivor Series, SummerSlam, etc, just doesn't hold any water anymore.

I'm really looking forward to this show.....the first two matches (tag and Divas title matches) will likely be kept short and not amount to much, but I am very interested to see how the scramble matches go. With a guaranteed 20 minutes for each, they may produce some good stuff. And I also like how, especially in the SD title match, there are new and fresh guys in the match that you wouldnt normally see in world title matches. Then to top it all off, we have one of the more heated matches I have seen in WWE in a long time with Jericho and Michaels. Divas match: McCool wins, probably will be a very sloppy match, given Maryse is in it. Tag titles: Priceless should retain. ECW scramble: Henry will probably squeak out a win at the last minute, wouldn't be surprised to see the title flip-flopped alot in this one. SD scramble: I just can't see HHH retaining here, either he was improvising and burying his opponents on Smackdown or he wasn't taking any of the guys seriously intentionally, on Smackdown this week. I can see Hardy actually close to winning the title (having it up to near the end of the match) but then either MVP or Kendrick take it. HHH probably won't ever even get pinned, so he can keep face. I am still calling an instant Taker title shot right after the match when Vicki tries to patch things up with Taker by the move. Taker wins the title and when Vicki thinks they are all ok, Taker does the same chokeslam thing he did on Edge, on Vicki through the ring. Raw scramble: They may try some different booking here and have Punk out first with whomever, and he ends up lasting through the whole thing without anyone being pinned at all. It would be the best idea in order to try to keep Punk as strong as possible. Jericho/Michaels: I don't see this feud ending yet at all, calling some sort of double KO type deal here, probably some big bump that takes them both out. And because of that, I don't see this main eventing the show on the last match slot, I'm actually thinking that will be saved for the SD scramble.

Found this article on the AP wire, thought I might as well post it.... WWE wrestles for share of Japanese market TOKYO -Posing for a snapshot with a glittery championship belt in a packed theater, Seigi Nishiyama was among some 600 fans who can't get enough of World Wrestling Entertainment. "The stories are so much more detailed compared to Japanese wrestling — it's like watching a movie," the 34-year-old food manufacturing employee said Sunday. WWE is famous in the United State for its brand of professional wrestling, a kind of simulated sport and performance art that combines brute force with elaborate soap-opera story lines and larger-than-life characters with names like the Undertaker and Rey Mysterio. WWE's big push to market itself in Japan is nowhere clearer than at gatherings like Sunday's SummerSlam Festival, a raucous party that charges fans a $30 admission fee to watch recorded WWE pay-per-view events on giant video screens. The videos can also be watched at home, but going to events gives fans things they can't find in their living rooms — such as guest wrestlers flown in from the U.S., booths selling WWE T-shirts and key chains as well as plenty of camaraderie in this niche but seriously dedicated crowd. WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., racks up annual global pay-per-view sales of $100 million. It won't disclose regional breakdowns, but it sees Japan as one of its most important overseas markets. The latest push is spearheaded by the WWE's Japan office, which opened this year and is its only overseas office devoted to a single nation. The office hopes to woo Japanese newcomers, including teens and families, not just its usual 20-40 year-old fan base. It remains to be seen whether WWE can follow the path of such American imports as Hollywood movies, hip-hop music and Disneyland. Japan has its own brand of professional wrestling that is less outrightly fictional than WWE. The WWE is open about how no real fighting is involved. But Japanese wrestling is historically inspired by its American counterpart and boasts its own heroes and themes. WWE's only Japanese superstar is 40-year-old Shoichi Funaki, who goes by the ring name Funaki. He acknowledges that Japanese are just starting to enjoy WWE, with all its boisterous exchanges and flamboyance, complete with heckling. "Japanese fans are changing," he told The Associated Press. "The key is to give them more opportunities to watch WWE. If they see it, they'll get it." Funaki said working with the WWE requires him to sell his created character to fans as a full-fledged entertainer, not just an athlete, as well as more obvious challenges such as mastering English and staying in top shape. WWE's weekly TV shows — called Raw, SmackDown and ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) — feature ongoing story lines. "Even if you've never watched it before, you can jump in and start watching because it's good versus evil," said Ed Wells, vice president and general manager of WWE Japan. "We always refer to ourselves as sports entertainment. We created that genre in the U.S. and it's something that we are now, as of this year, taking really worldwide." Takayuki Hioki of Sports Marketing Japan, which runs WWE's Internet and mobile businesses in Japan, said WWE can catch on in the same way Major League Baseball has with Japanese baseball fans. The WWE mobile Web site offers ringtones, screen wallpaper and video clips. It already has 35,000 users in Japan who pay $3 a month for the service, Hioki said. Atsushi Oonita, a Japanese wrestler not with the WWE, is a former legislator is a respected social figure in Japan. He said WWE can improve its chances for success by making cultural adjustments, such as headhunting stars who appeal to Japanese tastes — perhaps a sumo wrestling champion. But Oonita was optimistic that WWE's arrival would boost the overall popularity of wrestling. Right now, he says wrestling is getting bashed by such combat sports as mixed martial arts. "Japanese are a very suppressed people," he said. "And so it takes a special kind of performance skill to fire up their passion. You can't overdo it. But I wish WWE all the best."

Suffice to say, I'm betting Foley will show up at the next pay per view in Canada, do some promo of some sort, and more than likely someone will come out to set up a match with Foley against ??? at Bound For Glory. If that IS the case, TNA should consider airing footage of Foley from the house show last night on Impact this week, and also trumpet all over the next show that Foley will be showing up on next Sunday.

That's not Goldust there with La Parka, thats Sid, and who knows what was happening there, I dont even think it was a match, just some weird backstage segment of Sid going on a rampage, if I recall.

I think he was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks as of mid-August, so it's possible he shows up. There's also still a chance that leaked news about Taker getting a title shot at the winner of the SD scramble match still happens. They could easily do a segment on the ppv where Taker confronts her and she offers Taker a title shot later in the night, and given there is only 5 matches on the card (one being a women's match which wont go more than 5 minutes) I'm thinking that might happen on the show, still. And Taker probably still lays her out after being given a title shot. There are six matches on the card including the women's match. Three scrambles, HBK/Jericho, Cryme Tyme/Priceless, Maryse/Michelle. Ahh, forgot about the tag title match, my bad. They still will probably do a Taker/Vicki angle though, and a surprise Taker title shot announced immediately after whomever wins the scramble match for SD (my guess is Kendrick or MVP).

That opening segment was fucked up.....felt like HHH was shooting, which is never a good thing. Instead of laughing at your heel opposition at the ppv, maybe try to put them over a bit? What a radical concept. I am liking Truth's stuff so far, I like that they let Truth keep his music (since he owns it himself, anyway)....I would imagine Chavo might put over the guy next. It's still up in the air if people are really going to take to Killings as much as TNA, but I gotta say they are giving him a fair chance to get over with what got him over in TNA in the first place. Yeah, at the ppv, the way they are building the Taker/Vicki stuff to Unforgiven, seems to suggest either Taker will lay out Vicki, or else Edge returns, or a new guy runs in to start a program with Taker, I'm guessing the first choice. Holy shit though, Maryse cut one of the worst promos ever by a woman in the company on this show, which is saying alot. Something about Maria not being able to fit in her clothes(?) Benjamin/MVP was interesting, given what was reported earlier in the week on the dynamic with those two backstage right now, not too bad at all. Kendrick/Hardy was also solid, HHH/Khali.....eh....not so much, but it served its' purpose. First Smackdown I've watched from start to finish without fast forwarding much on the DVR, so I guess it kept me watching. Thought it did a pretty good job at building up the ppv on Sunday.

I'm not quite sure, but they made it seem like he is a downloadable character, all together.
-
When has (or when does) True Blood started? Been so busy lately, I forgot about it. Anyone excited for a new Kitchen Nightmares on FOX? That just started again last week with a revisited episode to a handful of the places Ramsey went to in last season.

That was quite the show, actually. Styles showing some guy how to take a hiptoss, totally breaking kayfabe at the same time (telling the guy to jump off his knee to do the hiptoss) and then they interview Dixie Carter, who talks about how the Suicide character will be showing up soon on TV, some actually really good looking clips of the game, they talk about downloadable characters (apparently the first ones released will be Petey Williams and Curry Man) that will be coming soon, and then the ending of the show was typical TNA wackiness, as Angle and Styles got into a verbal spat about who "made" the game or something?!!
-
This whole Suicide character is definately going to happen, I wouldn't be at all shocked to see him appear at the next ppv or something. They did a show devoted to the Impact game on GameTrailers TV last night on Spike and the wrestlers and even Dixie Carter herself were intereviewed about Suicide coming from the game and to become an actual worker on the roster soon. Dixie was mentioning that the company "did an extensive search" for the right person for the role, ie Kaz I'm sure.

To add to the notion that he's done all he can do in TNA (which I pretty much agree with) the fact that Edge is working the injury off TV would make a perfect opportunity to have Edge return, only with Christian by his side. And although they never ever will do it, how cool would it be to see the return akin to something similar to when they were in The Brood? Consider that Edge apparently "got sent to hell" and it almost half ass even makes sense for them to rise back up from the proverbial flames, like their old Brood entrance.
-
I'm sure it has to do with rent of the facility, and the fact that, in the arenas they have run out of, its a ton cheaper than the major market spots. TNA probably shouldn't run those huge markets quite yet anyway, until they can reach a goal of consistent solid house show business on a semi-profitable level with them.

Ok so I got back into this show lately, the last few weeks at least. I gotta say one thing.....after seeing the cattyness of the three cunts who got eliminated tonight on the show, I am rooting for Keesha to actually win this thing. The comrodery with Keesha and Renny right before she got eliminated tonight was the most "real" thing I've seen from the season so far from any of these people. And the person I, initially, thought was the most normal out of the whole bunch, Jerry, ends up being one of the most fucked up of the bunch by the end of it. VERY creepy segment they showed tonight when Jerry was telling Keesha to align with him to make it to the final two. Calling her baby, wanting a hug, etc, etc. Ick. I have a feeling it's going to come down to Keesha and Dan, and the jury bitches are going to really turn the "who do I hate more" card there. How can they not realize (and this goes for Libra, Michelle, and April basically, and Ollie a bit too) how ridiculous they make themselves look with that tactless drivel they spew is beyond me. They come off as the most pathetic bitter crybabies.....time to grow up, children, the game is over for you.

So went and saw a few flicks on labor day, with next to nobody in either theater. Death Race: I was actually surprised how much I got into this. I loved Death Race 2000, and this held up well as a pseudo-remake (bit different storyline all around though). Kind of reminded me of Shoot Em Up in a way, a bit hokey and hard to believe, but so over the top in spots it worked. Traitor: Dissapointing film, very plodding and tedious at times. The pace was horrible, just seemed to never end. Nearly fell asleep a few times. Cheadle did well in his role, but there was just not enough meat on the bone as far as connecting with his character to really care about what was going on. Same with Guy Ritchie, just poor character development. If that would have been stronger, it would have been good as the story was actually semi-interesting at its' base.

Latest today.......the grandparents hired an attorney (hmmmm) and someone anonymous actually put up the bond to get Casey back out of jail. Seriously, what good is that going to do other than possibly giving Casey the chance to kill herself so she doesn't have to deal with this anymore? It's clear she isn't going to talk to anyone or fess up to anything, unless maybe they find the body and are able to prove Casey killed her. And I'm kind of thinking that at least the grandmother knew a little more than what she is playing things off as right now, and probably has been bullshitting everyone left and right since that original 911 call where she said herself "the car smells like there has been a dead body in here". Immediately after that call, things all of a sudden did a 180 with her. She even tampered with evidence in the car soon after (and before the cops even showed up to figure out what was going on). Not sure so much on the grandfather, I actually feel a bit of empathy for the guy, who just seems to want out of the family and not deal with this shit, noticing his wife and own daughter are totally batshit crazy. That Leonard Padilla guy keeps saying there is evidence relating to a dumpster near Casey's boyfriend's house that the cops know about but havent released yet, wonder what thats all about?

That stupid cunt that Carville owned on Larry King is MN Rep Michele Bachmann, who is quite possibly one of the most inept and cookie cutter types of delusional Republicans you can find, at least around the Midwest. I've heard nothing but the worst about this woman since she (somehow) got her spot. Here is some other great nonsense about her. http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/03/19/m...e-crazy-person/ lol I love how she skirted around King's direct question "Do you think this is the most qualified for VP?" two times in a row. I've never heard such drivel so far in terms of the GOP stance on Palin. If thats the best they can do, wow. I also didn't know that Palin selling the previous Governor of Alaska's jet airplane on Ebay gives her credibility against corruption?!!! Wow, again. I just wanna hit the bitch.

Randy Couture signs new 3 fight contract with UFC
RedJed replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
While for the here and now business side of things, this is huge and will most certainly get one of the bigger buzzes for a UFC fight this year. On the flip side, they are risking Lesnar's drawing power diminished here if he looks bad against Couture (and thats honestly what I'm expecting) as he's not even close to Couture's league in the least. However, if by chance, Lesnar beats Couture, or even comes out of the fight looking strong, its a huge risk that ultimately would be worth taking. UFC gets Randy back and in a big way. -
Saw the trailer for the new Coen Brothers movie, Burn Before Reading (I think that was the title) that's definately worth checking out. Looks hilarious and rather in the same vein of style akin to Big Lebowski. Apparently is coming out Sept. 12 already, lookin forward to it.

So, yeah, holy shit, Babylon AD really was THAT bad as someone else already mentioned. Although it's definately on that "so bad its good" mess of a movie, so I was still entertained and I think it does need to be seen to believed how shitty this really is, granted wait for DVD. But there definately was some parts that were either hard to understand (I still am confused on alot of the plot because there is so many holes in it), slow and muddling with the most ridiculous dialouge ever, hard to believe (I didn't understand how Vin Diesel kept apparently getting in the middle of fires in this film or right in front of explosions, yet comes up unscaved almost every time), or just outright WTF happened-type of things. Just all around craptastic. There was only about ten of us in the movie, everyone groaning and chuckling at the nonsense here and there, but when there was a part of dialouge where the cute blonde chick says
-
Well at least they can still tout it as a "cult movie" I guess.....it looked, from the previews, like something that you see every other week on DVD from the National Lampoon brandname.
