    The Dark Knight

Titanic got a huge boost by the Oscar nominations, plus it had 0 competition for like months. So it was kind of a freak of timing that it made so much money. Still though, no other film has gotten this much box office take this quickly, and is there any question this movie will have legs? All it's going to take is another week of, say, another 100 million take, putting it at near 400 million after two weeks of release, and then even if it takes in 25 million each week thereafter until the end of the summer, its almost there.

    The Dark Knight

Wow, so Dark Knight will likely surpass 300 million by this coming Sunday......with that said, is anyone a little more open to the idea that it just might become the number one box office attraction of all time, at least domestically? It's almost half way there to Titanic, which I think is 600 million. At this point, I think it's very well possible given that this is one of those movies that probably is and will continue to have the best word of mouth in a film in a long time, which will keep people coming in.

Regarding Dent, I'd like to see what exactly is said in the novelization regarding the you know what, it could very well as be as vague as it was in the film.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 7/25

One thing I forgot to mention though is that I'm definately interested to see what they are going to do with Ron Killings on Smackdown.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/22/2008)

Damn, that was a fun show tonight, probably more than anything because it was in Philly, and the digs to the old fanbase with the changing of the new belt (which got nothing but heat from the crowd) as an example. Matt Hardy's promo was funny in a way too because, be it unintentional or not, Hardy was cutting a promo with an ECW logo on one side of him and a WWE logo on the other side - I guess just in case we forgot who owns ECW. Anyway didn't see the point of the new belt, probably because the old ECW belt had "World Heavyweight" in the faceplate and they didn't want anyone to confuse it with Raw's belt or something lame like that. But that main event was actually really solid stuff that was ppv calibur in the workrate, and I'd be for Hardy as ECW Champion, just seemed to make sense with his character anyway. Hopefully they make the match "Extreme Rules" but I doubt it with HIAC now on the card. But that match tonight actually reminded me, in some ways, of an match akin back to the Bingo Hall days, all guys just working hard and doin some stuff near or in the crowd in a spot or two, and just keep on going with a big finish. So to that, it was an unintentional homage to the location they were at tonight, in that a regular ECW TV match actually was worth seeing for once...it's been awhile. Miz/Morrison will likely feud after tonight and I'm sure Dreamer/Delaney will go on for awhile with someone showing up as a manager for Delaney, otherwise there is nothing to that feud. Oh and what the world was waiting for, a Mike Knox vignette!

    Smackdown Spoilers for 7/25

If they're going with Edge/'Taker in a HIAC match that will surely over shadow the RAW title match. It's up for debate whether that's intentional or not. That rules out a potential Elimination Chamber match with Cena/Batista/Kane/JBL/Punk and someone else like Jericho Although I dont expect it at all, they could do two HIACs in one night, much like they did with the Elimination Chamber double shot at No Way Out.

    Smackdown Spoilers for 7/25

Jesus christ people, stop getting your panties in a bunch because a guy is cutting a promo talking about all of Hardy's misfortunes the last few months? Big fucking deal! It wasn't like he said, "your dog was a piece of shit that deserved to die" or something of the like. Like the other guy said, GET OVER IT. He just brought up Hardy's earlier shit, and then getting heat by telling him to "shape up" when, in storyline, he already has. What's the big deal?!!! This show sounds horrible on paper though, Vicki/Edge what was expected with Taker/HHH for SummerSlam, Khali v. HHH at SummerSlam though? UGH. MVP or Kennedy against HHH at the ppv would have been at least worthwhile.

    The Dark Knight

Finally got to see it today, AMAZING film. Captivating from start to finish, although I thought the first half hour was kind of slow, but not really bad per-se. My only real negative to it was that I couldn't feel the same character of Rachel that was established from Katie Holmes with Maggie G. Had a hard time just accepting that was the same character when they seemed very different in how they approached the role. Otherwise, just totally blown away by it and I can't wait to see it the second time in the IMAX in a few weeks. Ledger was good as the Joker, don't get me wrong, but I question if it was Oscar worthy, depends what other performances really stand out this year, I guess.

    The Dark Knight

I seriously wonder if I'm ever gonna be able to see this.......all showings today at the local two screens were completely sold out from start to finish. Tried all day to no avail. Damn. I'd probably be able to see it by now if I 1) bought a ticket in advance online or 2) would stop the habit of walking into the movie 5-10 minutes after the commercials start, in time to see the trailers and the movie but not the other BS, as by that time the theater sells out or 3) really don't like or want to be packed in the theater like a tincase of sardines, but it is what it is. Apparently single seats are available only for tomorrow too. Shit.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

--TNA's web site is reporting that Kaz asked for his release on Monday and would appear on TV on Thursday to talk about the reasons. This reads like an angle to me and a spoof of the WWE "future endavors" deal, but we'll try and update later. (wrestlingobserver.com) I don't get this angle at all, how many times has TNA done the "disgruntled worker" deal anyway?!! Otherwise, if it's not an angle, I don't get it.

    Box Office Report...

It's gonna pull a ton in over the week here I think, actually I could see it pull another 60 million BY next Friday at this rate. Then probably another 75-80 million at least for next weekend's haul. There are still a whole hell of a lot of people who probably havent seen it, or will by just the news alone of the take from the weekend, thinking its must-see (which it appears to be). Some theaters are still sold out in advance on showings of it, and will continue to be this week.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

I don't know why, but I can't see WWE throwing Vicki into a babyface role when they gotta see the tremendous legitimate heat she's getting now. She might just become this horribly vindictive "woman scorned" character who really still is a true heel or something, and just treats everyone like shit from now on with absolutely no bias towards anyone, just wanting to make everyone's lives a living hell since she got burned. One would think it may be possible that Chavo goes tweener as well as the one who gets the sympathy heat for Edge's betrayal of Vicki really falls onto, if that makes any sense. Vicki is still out of control, but Chavo would fight for her being screwed around with, against Edge in a small mini-program until Taker returns at SummerSlam. From that point, Vicki can move onto something else or maybe even be taken off TV for awhile when Taker/Edge starts up again. I wouldn't be at all shocked to see Vicki re-instate Taker, only for him to return, lay out Edge, adn then when Vicki expects Taker to be friendly with her for reinstating him, he lays her out and she goes off TV until she comes back as a firey woman scorned character who would still be heel. As far as Alicia Fox goes, I'll definately give her a chance as the character she is playing right now might have tendancies to be alright on screen. Bad girl who looks harmless but is all business to get what she wants. Reminds me a bit of the character Nancy Benoit has played as Woman in certain times in her career, or Terri Runnels as Alexandra York in WCW (wow, is that a dated reference).

Bobby Lashley, WWE copyrights, and AAA

I think you're right, copyrights may not apply in Mexico, or other countries for that matter. Xpac always comes out to the old DX theme when he's in AAA, and I know of plenty other ex WWE or WCW guys that they have brought in for small shots here and there that would use old theme music as well. Vampiro also came out to ACDC's Back in Black on this week's show, too.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

I half expected Kane to reveal what was in the bag tonight, by the way. I'm thinking it's gotta be his old mask in there or something like that.

    The Dark Knight

Denied AGAIN on seeing TDK around here, sold out Thursday night for the first showings, all day yesterday, and then a third try tonight at 1010 was all for naught, a crew of us went up after the WWE ppv and got the news. I gotta just order them in advance online or something, damn.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

Edge/HHH was pretty standard and the ending was ok, but predictable a bit. Kind of underwhelming ending to a show that had its hits more than misses, but felt more than anything like it was a build to SummerSlam. But it was still a fun show.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

There's been subtle influences of MMA all over this show, especially in this match and McCool's finishing submission. For whatever reason, HHH/Edge is just not really anything special here so far.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

I didn't think that "match" was that bad, if you ask me (granted you have to put something like this in a different category as just a standard pro wrestling match as it seemed more like a movie scene), although I wonder if they pre-taped the majority of that match in the back, seemed a little hokey and bordering a B-movie feel again, much like the angle was from last Monday. Basically felt like these two were making a tryout tape to be a stuntman or something. I did like the finish though, and Bradshaw sold like a champ afterwards, damn near looking like he was going to cry. Although some of that may have been legit, the guy's back is a mess and taking a hard back bump on the stage like that sure probably didn't help. I don't really want to see another match between these two, though, so JBL going over kind of confused me. This should have been the blowoff to that program, considering all of the off the wall shit they were doing. The only thing I didn't get was the zero commentary during the parking lot brawl, but considering all the crazy shit they did there, I think it was a better thing to leave them off the mics. Like I said, it felt more like we were watching a scene from a movie, even with what sounded to me like added sound effects a bit at times, so it made sense to keep them off commentary.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

Better match than I expected from Punk and Batista. Finish was what I expected, so it is what it is, builds to a triple threat at SummerSlam. Gotta say Punk was given a chance to look strong there against Batista though, which I actually DIDN'T expect so I can't complain too much. Could have done without the Batista bomb after the match, didn't see any reasonable point in that when they need to be focusing on making their champion strong, especially after a non-finish. However though, as I said, Punk really had Batista's number there in that match. That looked like Rob Feinstein taking the kick in the face by Kane, although I'm sure it wasn't.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

That match told a great story, and wow, did Michaels ever blade a gusher. Was surprised to see that on WWE since the blood has been so minimally used as of late. Builds solid heat towards the final showdown at SummerSlam.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

The ECW title match was weak as hell, finished by a turn that just seemed way too quick to turn Delaney.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

Benjamin/Hardy was damn good, I'm all for that title change, versus the tag title one. So Smackdown now gets more titles for their show, ECW is just back to having the ECW title on their show. This is probably the slow seperation effect of ECW now longer merged with the Smackdown roster for the show tapings. And yeah, that Punk promo was goodness.

    WWE Great American Bash 2008

I swear JR was calling both members Hawkins when either was in the ring. Hawkins and Ryder needed the titles the most, the other three ware over to varying degrees. I thought since Miz and Morrison have had such a good run so far, there was no reason to have them lose the belts already and so out of the blue like that, even if they didn't get pinned to lose them. When they lost, it should have meant more than how they did it....honestly, they should have just done Hardys v. Miz/Morrison on the ppv (or even at SummerSlam) and gave the Hardys the belts, and then the Hardys could have eventually feuded with Hawkins and Ryder, who they would possibly put over, but not until the time was right. At this point, the time wasn't right here for the title switch to one of the most underwhelming tag teams I've seen in WWE in years (and that's saying alot). I just don't see how it's going to help Hawkins and Ryder, they have nothing to bring to the table, even with the Edge connection. I don't see them with the belts as magically changing that. But it's WWE's way to just transfer the belts to heel tag teams without each team looking bad in the process, I guess.

Bobby Lashley, WWE copyrights, and AAA

Yeah, it was the Triplemania 16 show (part two) which was on Galavision a few times this weekend, in fact I think its still on right now til the top of the hour here, Vampiro versus Mesias is also on the show and is a hell of a brutal deal, with some brutal glass bulb shots to Vampiro. Lashley was supposed to be a heel in his match (a six man tag, naturally) but came off more as a monster babyface, ala Goldberg. Surprise surprise. I'll be doing a writeup on the show in the other promotions folder later on, more than likely.

    The Dark Knight

Checking out the late showing of it tonight, I figure the crowd will probably be at its' lowest of the weekend then. Tried going Saturday in the afternoon and it was sold out all afternoon, so who knows.....it will probably still be a full house tonight. Did the marathon of all past Batman movies, and I'm ridiculously pumped to see this now. I hadnt seen Batman Begins in a few years (went and saw it in the theater twice, once in a regular theater and another time in the IMAX, plan will be the same this time with TDK) and it held up extremely well, as actually did the Batman 89 film. The rest were definately not up to par with either BB or the original Batman.
