    Impact spoilers for 5/1

Hmmm, interesting results here.... I REALLY like the idea of Kong as one of the singles in the Deuces Wild tournament, we'll see what happens but something really cool could happen there, any way you see it, she will finally compete against the guys, which is something I remember some of us here wanting to see. Kong teaming up with Booker T might be interesting, especially if Booker goes heel on Sting at the ppv, which seems likely. Hell, give Kong and Booker the tag team belts even, in that case. The Steiner/Angle/Joe build.......eh......nothing too special here. Still looking forward to the match, though. Hector Guererro in the corner of LAX for the rest of the tournament......to me, that sounds like LAX might take the whole thing, and have him as a full time manager (which is cool in my book). I'm still not feeling "Super Eric" at all. It's actually too bad that they weren't able to do Styles/Super Eric v. Young/Kaz, that would have at least been different and played into the storyline. The only positive I can see from teaming w/ Styles is that this will slowly move Styles into a babyface. And not that its really covered this week much, but I REALLY like the idea of a heel Booker T v. Sting, presumably at Slammiversary.

    WWE Raw (4/21/2008)

Shawn isn't in that line up, so he's probably in the KotR. Same with Batista. WWE placed the brand champions and their Backlash challengers in the main event. Michaels and Batista don't qualify in either category. Hopefully, they'll be kept out of the King of the Ring to let someone else shine. Yeah, I think we'll see seperate builds to Show/Khali and also Batista/HBK on Raw other than slotting them in KOTR.

    Ongoing Impact spoilers for Thursday

Yeah, and from that, for some reason I can see Dutt then actually thinking he can "get" Val or something (or "got" her), from Val and Lethal "splitting" or whatever, only for Val to turn him down and Dutt goes CRAAAAZZZY on her. Then comes the revenge feud w/ Dutt and Lethal from that. Seeing Dutt doing a 180 from his current gimmick might be cool.

I can see a rematch at Sacrifice for sure, with Dutt doing the turn on Lethal to cost him the match.

Hell, I'd even go as far as to say Lethal is better completely not even chasing the belt, or even worrying about it, at this point. Have him feud with Dutt, have him get rid of the goofy Macho Man gimmick, make him into more of a serious character (I really liked the promos he cut out of character recently BTW) and then re-evaulate direction. Suffice to say, I think having him stuck in just the X division is holding him down to a degree. If TNA could create a no-nonsense take no shit babyface character for him, I could see a push beyond just chasing a belt he's already won a few times before.

What do you mean by protect? Tomko has been very hot for a long time now and Styles is one of the top names for TNA and has been for years now. So they lost the titles to Kaz and Super Eric, oh well. Your bitching because your a fan of Tomko and Styles and not Kaz and Super Eric. Your just bitching because your a unhappy fan. For the record, I can't stand Tomko, and have always thought Styles was overrated to a degree, so no, its not just because I'm "unhappy". But it's clear that Tomko/Styles was a credible team as champs, were being booked and protected VERY well, and it all seems pointless when they job the belts out to a lower card comedy act. The tag belts were being treated with some sort of prestige, to a degree. And I just think both Tomko and Styles would be expected to be protected better given whats ahead for them both (Styles/Angle likely, as well as Tomko/Christian or something to that effect).

    Ongoing Impact spoilers for Thursday

They didn't really win it after all though......I think that's what bothers me about it more than anything, that Tomko/Styles were jobbed out to a team that isn't even going to hold it for the entire show, and I'm sure they won't win any tournament/etc TNA has lined up to crown new champs. The SuperEric shit, I'd just like to see kept in the lower to mid card at best as well, and not used against guys like Styles/Tomko, who the company should try to protect better. Just thought that maybe LAX was thrown in that match to do the job so Tomko or Styles didn't have to? If so, I guess I can understand the logic, at least. EDIT - Nevermind, Young pinned Styles. Let me reinterate then that having a guy who is, undoubtably, one of your biggest company stars, and supposedly going to be feuding with one of the top stars soon, job out to a complete comedy act, akin to a Eugene, is just plain fucking retarded.

Whether the booking is making him stale or not, it's irrelevent as it was time to change up who had the title as, that alone, has gotten stale, with him as X champ. I guess you haven't been watching the "dates" vignettes, if you think his character doesn't need a bit of a rehash. In the aftermath here, I'm sure we'll still see Dutt v. Lethal (and maybe during that feud he will get rid of the hokey fuckin lame Macho Man gimmick that he's definately "outgrown") anyway, so why does it have to be for the title when it holds it own ground as a solid feud on its' own? I think they havent pulled the trigger on Dutt/Lethal yet just because it doesn't need them fighting over the belt, they are already fighting over something (or should I say someone) else. Petey as champ is something I'm looking forward to since he was kept out of the X division spotlight for a good two or three years, it seems, so he's due. He's talented as hell if he's given the chance to shine.

    Ongoing Impact spoilers for Thursday

I dont really mind that Petey won the X division belt (Lethal is getting uber stale and a bit lame as far as his character goes, so having him hold the belt is just giving the title less substance and merit anyway) but WTF on Kaz and SuperEric/Eric Young winning the tag titles. That distinction could have and should have been saved for an actual tag team that deserves it (considering Tomko/Styles have kicked ass as champs for a good while now) and in addition, the eventual tag title switch should have meant much more than this. What a slap in the face to guys like LAX, MCMGs, and even the fuckin Duds (who would be better fit as champs than these two). And then to have the super hokey Cornette thing on top of it, leading to the titles being vacated? Nice way to piss on the tag belts there, guys. Speaking of the Dudleys, nobody wants to see them feuding, do they? I wonder if they will play up the Christian/Rhino heat more as well, possibly leading to Rhino going heel on Christian. Rest of the show actually sounds pretty good, though. Booker T going heel is way way WAY cool with me since he's just not clicking in his role right now at all.
  11. The predicableness and cliche BS was beyond any typical slasher flick though, and, on that note, calling this a slasher flick is really being generous. Most of the film is horrible teen dramatics more than anything. It isn't scary, nor is it even horror. There was zero empathy for any of the teenagers and I've seen better character development in porn. The story was so loose, as well, that it just didn't make me suspend disbelief at any point. And the kills in this one are just ridiculously lame on top of it. Not sure how you can apparently stab someone with a knife a few times, not have any blood on such knife, and then when the shot is panned to show the person killed, they aren't even bleeding. WHAT?!! This was, in a nutshell, what the Prom Night remake was. And actually, I don't even get why this is considered a remake. The story is way different than the original, and there is no real "nod" to the original film at all, etc. That was really the only reason I went to see it, to see how they would remake a movie that I always enjoyed when I was young, and they really didn't even do it. 11 percent at Rotten Tomatoes, nuff said.

    Lockdown (4/13/2008)

Late on my thoughts here but I thought Joe/Angle was really damn strong. It was just really different as a whole from top to bottom. Easily the best TNA match this year so far. May not be the MOTY overall (I would still save that for Flair/Michaels myself) but the structure of this match was very well done, as well as the last couple of minutes as a whole. I really enjoyed the stiffness of the match as well as the MMA nods mixed into the actual wrestling flow of the match (seems like they would do MMA exhanges, and stiffly, in between pro wrestling spots for about 3/4 of the match or so). Kudos to the company for turning the page (at least for now) on quitting the BS with screwjobs or run-ins during every ppv main event, it seems. Having Karen teased in the start and then her involvement addressed and taken out of the match was a good idea. Really, there isn't much to complain about here in terms of delivery. But I can see how some just don't enjoy it, if they aren't either used to seeing that mixture of styles and/or have a certain idea of how a match should go, and if it is a little different, they just can't handle it. Time will tell to see how Joe is used as champion, but I have to say that given how they booked this match, it kind of made up (to me at least) the misusage of Joe in his matches with Angle prior. Kind of "payback" in a way. The presentation and build of this match on the ppv itself was fucking tremendous too. The interviews in between the ppv matches were well done by all, Trigg added a GREAT element to the commentary that I enjoyed, and the way the entrances were treated made it feel more UFCish in presentation, which isn't a bad thing at all. As for the rest of the show, I felt most of the matches were good enough to warrant this ppv as one of the better ones they have done in quite some time, at least since BFG for sure. Lethal Lockdown was pretty good and I dug the fact that, once again, TNA didn't pull the swerve hat out and have someone turn heel to cost Team Cage the match. Instead this was another no BS booking of the match here. Big spot with Styles and Christian. And speaking of Cage, he was the major workhorse in this match for sure. One of the few times I have been impressed by him. As for the remaining matches, I at least enjoyed the ppv in terms of that every match was different and done in somewhat of a creative way. As weird as the women's climb the cage match and the cuff to the cage matches were, I think given the odd concept/rules of these matches, that they came across better than expected. My only real lnegatives to the show was Road Dogg/Kip James and the Booker T mixed tag. Way too quick for both, should have been more of a brawling/true cage match feel to both of them, and a little bloodshed in either wouldn't have hurt either. Seen alot of varying reviews of the opener as well, and I'd say it was definately a solid ***. Women's tag was surprisingly strong, too.
  13. That would be much more creative than the actual ending of the crap known as Prom Night. The ending is about as predictable and cliche as you can get.....hell, the whole movie is, in fact, cliche to the max. Biggest waste of $5 I've spent on a movie in years. But I'm sure the teenage girls loved it.

    Lockdown (4/13/2008)

Which would make one hope that they understand screwing up the Angle/Joe match would kill the town. Don't kill towns that like you. Kill Orlando because they don't pay. Actually...don't kill any town...but if you absolutely have to...do it in Orlando. Yeah, the numbers alone in attendance figures for this show should tell TNA that people want Joe to finally win, and I think it's gotta be a given.

    Lockdown (4/13/2008)

I'll definately be ordering tonight, mind you with a sack of herbage and Bongzilla by my side.... The card seems more stacked than any TNA ppv in a long time, AND the build for most of the card has been better than I've seen since BFG of last year. Joe/Angle has been the best TNA main event build EASILY since Raven/Jarrett. Every single week of build for this has been tremendous. Some have already mentioned it, but I'm thinking a Nash heel turn to cost Team Cage the match is definately in order. Nash's persona is borderline heel already, so they might as well go full tilt with it and even up the heel side a bit, especially if Styles probably goes face pretty soon (as well at Tomko maybe?) Sounds like TNA has almost legitimately sold out this arena tonight, so that should make for a hot crowd.

Potential Big Problems for WWE Worker

You're getting the situation twisted.....the only thing that was dated "2004" was a copy of a memo sent out to WWE employees from John Laurinitis about the dress code. And that doesnt even mean Knox GOT IT in 04.......hell, I would imagine he wasn't even a part of anything related to WWE (including developmental) til sometime 05 in the earliest. It was just in 04 when that dress code was implimented.
  17. I'm sure more will surface on this story this week when the name is released of who this is, but anyway you slice it, horrible PR for the WWE in relation to their drug policy, etc. HENRY COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5) -- Henry County Police are investigating what a Locust Grove man says he found inside his home. He turned over to police several bottles that were labeled as containing human growth hormones. The man also gave police numerous syringes and other materials that investigators say could belong to a W.W.E. wrestler. "I had never looked in here and so she was gonna put her stuff in here and just looked back in here and the boxes were just sitting there," said the homeowner. The Locust Grove man showed FOX 5 News where his daughter stumbled upon the disturbing find in the attic of their home. "It was actually pushed over closer to this wall," said the homeowner as he pointed to a nearby wall. The homeowner was referring to two shoe boxes that contained several small bottles labeled as testosterone, neomasteron -- which is also an anabolic steroid -- some bottles with no markings at all and there were numerous unopened syringes. Asked what his thoughts were upon discovering the drugs, the homeowner said "well being the fact that I have children I was horrified because my kids actually play up in that room and so the first thing I thought is what if there were to open that and they would have gotten a hold of the stuff and the syringes." The shoeboxes also contained personal documents with the name of a man who used to live in the house. Among those documents was a contract from the W.W.E. and a memorandum to W.W.E. superstars in 2004 about the new dress code. Henry County Police have asked FOX 5 News not to name that wrestler at this time because they want to talk with him first. Futhermore, no charges have been filed. Police are still investigating what the substance was in those bottles. While it is not illegal for W.W.E. wrestlers to take steroids the W.W.E. Director of Publicity Kevin Hennesy told FOX 5 News "wrestlers can only be prescribed steroids by a physician which is rare and only for a specific medical condition and it is usually taken orally." Hennesy added, "If a wrestler is injecting steroids for performance enhancement purposes that would be a matter for local law enforcement." Investigators say they believe the wrestler is staying with relatives in another state. Police want to question him and test the bottles of substances that were found in the Locust Grove home.

Potential Big Problems for WWE Worker

Damn, this is quite a turn with Knox either trying to save his ass, claiming they aren't his, or else I would think it's safe to assume he might not have gotten along very well with another roommate possibly, and was set up?!

Potential Big Problems for WWE Worker

He doesn't look really out of shape more than he just looks bulked up. By no means is he cut, though, so who knows. Was just an observation I had that he looked rather bulky since he's been back and (coincidence or not) he's being pushed all of a sudden for no real reason.

Potential Big Problems for WWE Worker

I think it's irrelevant that it's not a major name or not. The company is still going to get the same kind of bad PR from it regardless. Now the only out is if the shit was purchased a long time ago. Regardless, given Knox is bigger than he ever is right now and this news, well it just makes the wellness policy once again look like a real joke. At least for now, until we find out more details when/where those drugs were purchased and more importantly, if/when he's ever been tested and/or suspended for usage.
  21. RedJed

Potential Big Problems for WWE Worker

The company is still going to get some heat from this via the media though, one can assume. He's a current member of the roster and has steroids (or should I say HAD....how he could have forgot to take them when he moved out boggles my mind) so the media will run with it, attacking the wellness policy, etc. And honestly, I'd say rightfully so that WWE gets some shit for this one. I seriously have my suspicions that Knox was currently on the juice, and pretty heavily as well. Has anyone noticed how much the guy bulked up since he came back? Whatever the case, I'm sure he's going to get fired to make an example of, but the question still remains how he passed the tests prior. Or maybe he didn't pass them, which would explain how he was moreless off TV for a good while on and off. That would be a HUGE out for the company if thats the case.
  22. RedJed

Potential Big Problems for WWE Worker

Very possible, in which, in that case, it would be something the WWE can deflect a lot better. Otherwise, if it's a current worker, there's going to be a backlash.

My only recollection is that I think Regal lives in or around the area, wasn't he close to where Benoit was living, at one time or another?

    Random Thoughts 3-27-08 to 5-28-08

This will probably be ok to put as a new topic, but I thought for now, I'd post it here, from the Observer site... Fox 5 in Atlanta tonight had as one of its lead stories, an item about a man who moved into a home he had just purchased from a WWE wrestler (whose name was not identified in the story). He found shoe boxes filled with steroids and Growth Hormone in a crawl space in the wall along with a copy of the wrestlers current contract and a memo regarding changes in the dress code. They announced they weren't releasing the name of the wrestler who just moved until they spoke with him first. Thanks to Scott Decker ---------------- Off the top of my head, I don't know who all resides in Georgia, even Atlanta more specifically, but I'm sure someone is going to lose their job possibly off this.

    Wrestlemania XXIV Discussion Thread

One thing I really liked about this year's Mania......particularly....... In all of the main matches, the finishes were really creative and unique. Think about it, between the MITB finish, Flair/Michaels (with SO much drama and emotion involved within it), Triple Threat (just creative in the sense as Orton goes over Cena finally, but not without the help of HHH), Mayweather/Show (that was about the only way I could accept a Mayweather win other than if there was a run-in on Show), and Edge/Taker (submission out of nowhere when it seemed like they were building to Edge actually winning). Job well done there, WWE.
