Ok, so is Teddy Dunn (Duncan) brilliant or horrible? He acts like such a worthless, boring piece of shit (and he doesn't seem the least bit intelligent) But, he occassionally just flashes 'serial killer' The guy can switch on that intense detachment, which apparently is his character's MO. I hate Wallace's gf. She's fucking annoying, and her acting's so bad it throws off all the wonderful actors on this show. A lot of this is probably because I like Wallace so much. I think characters may come and go, Wallace and Veronica are the only ones who are indespensible. Logan's still so intense and awesome that I have a man-crush on him. If this show gets cancelled, he's got a career waiting. Kristen Bell too. She's a million kinds of great, as well as being really hot for a tiny, skinny chick. And, of course, I missed the most recent episode because the girl I'm dating is apparently only free on Wednesdays. When veronica Mars is on! Still one of the bestest shows on TV. Still probably watched by approximately 9 people. Fuck Lost, even if it is a good show with good actors. It just can't compare.

Some recent RPG's like Star Ocean and any Nippon Ichi game are long as fuck. The Nippon Ichi games pack that time pretty full of gameplay too.

Well, that's a toughy. Start Mcgahee for sure. Against Balt, teams run for an average of 98.8 yds a game and .66 TDs a game. I don't know how heavily your league's yardage based, but I would tentatively suggest Willie Parker. The Ravens' O isn't going to be able to do a goddamn thing against the Steelers' D, and the Steelers love pounding the run and wearing the clock down. This favors Parker. Ricky Williams is simply unstartable thus far. I have Larry and Rudi Johnson. I'm thinking of starting Larry, just because Roaf is back and even though the Chargers have a vicious run defense, they HAVE given up a lot of rushing scores. Green Bay's given up 100 yds a game rushing, but that game's going to be all Palmer, all the time. Suggestions?

Blaming FFVII since it indirectly led to games like Xenosaga is baffling. No one blames Final Fight for PSX Fantastic Four. No one says Mario Kart sucks because it led to Crash Racing or other clones. Final Fantasy VII had good graphics, and a handful of long cutscenes. (and some long summons) FFVI had about the same amount of story, at least until the second world. To compare that to some of the lumbering behemoths today is silly. Impact or no, FFVII was an excellent game with a ton of gameplay. Final Fantasy VIII was ass. But I'll judge it on its own merits instead of looking at a good game to blame. Finally, I think RPG companies are going to start waking up, though. Nippon Ichi's doing very well with games with goofy-ass stories and ridiculous amounts of gameplay. Xenosaga's going to be cut short. The one series I'm really dissapointed in is Suikoden. You'd think they'd know to keep it simple. Uniracers was, indeed awesome. There was also a game similar in perspective to that super off-road game, except it was futuristic. But you could pimp out your car like in Super Offroad, and it had nitro boost and everything. What was it called? It was awesome.

As contentious as the top 10 console thread is, I'm really surprised to see that it's actually good discussion, with only one real illogical fanboy. You don't get much "OMG PS3 is going to pwn fagbox360 and Nintendo retardolution" that you see so much on other sites. Before the fucking systems have even been released.

Considering that RPGs never sold well in the US, and the game CREATED a genre boom, and the MASSIVE enduring following (trivialize it as nerds and fanfic lovers, it's still absolutely huge.) I think FFVII did pretty well for itself. Final Fantasy VI is my favorite game of all time, but it wasn't a huge, monstrous success. Final Fantasy IV was such a hit they decided not to bring FFV over to the states. If FFVII wasn't a good game, people would have bought it on hype and pretty graphics, and never bought an RPG again. That wasn't the case. It created a boom in the market. Being ranked in the top 10 on GameFAQS FAQS means people are still playing it. If it was just people reading fanfics, that's what the board rankings are for. You know why threads get derailed when FFVII gets mentioned? Because people really, actually LOVE that fucking game. Myself included. I'm sorry, but if you say that Goldeneye is a good game because it is/was popular, you have to apply the same criterium to FFVII. Also, there were a ton of N64's and a severe dearth of good games. Perfect Dark was arguably better than Goldeneye, and it sold less than a quarter as much, because there were a lot of good games on the system at the time. People weren't starving for a good title. And the SNES pwns the PSX's RPG collection. Though PSX is clearly #2. Remember when Square could do no wrong?
