Chad Johnson's riverdance cracked me up. Carson Palmer is tied for the most TD's in the league, and is second in QB rating. He has 17 TD's in his last 6 games. Those involved games against last year's NE and Blatimore D's, and this year's nasty Bears D. The best thing Eli Manning's ever done is pass a ball to Kurt Warner. Holy hell, that was funny. He actually did look quite good yesterday, in all honesty, but better than Palmer? Even on the learning curve? Getthefuckouttahere.

The Greatest Cancelled TV Shows of this decade
Special K replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
I would say if a show is still going strong, and the people involved want to keep doing it, you can get cancelled prematurely 3 or 4 years in. -
Some defining moments: -Random shots of the House of the Dead videogame (shown in negative) intercut with scene changes. Good one, Uwe. -The whole premise is these kids go to 'the biggest rave ever' on some island. They are very invested in this idea, and spend a shitload of money and effort getting there. They show up, and no one's there. Are they upset? Hell no! There're KEGS there! Woohoo! -Shot from the trees. As the kids walk away, a hand grabs a nearby tree suddenly. Fright music blares! Then for no reason a farting sound effect plays. I have no idea why this is in the movie. I have to disagree with you hear, Ripper. House of the Dead is just terrible. Not enjoyably terrible. It's slow. It's dumb. It's not entertaining at all. It's, in fact, a terribly boring movie. Maybe it turns into some great kitsch-fest in the last act, I wouldn't know, because I couldn't make it all the way through the movie. And I've sat through some real shit in my day. You want a terrible movie that's enjoyable? Rent Battlefield Baseball, or a Troma flick. The scary thing is I hear Alone in the Dark (same director) is even worse. Seeing as it has Tara Reid playing a scientist, I can believe it.

The Greatest Cancelled TV Shows of this decade

1. Freaks and Geeks 2. Sports Night 3. Undeclared 4. Firefly 5. Lucky (what? I liked that show.) If and when Arrested Development gets cancelled, it beats all of those combined. -
I agree on the threeway. I was expecting the detective to seduce him into admitting the truth, but when they just started going at it I had to roll my eyes. I know it's ordained that he has to get it on with every female character besides Liz (who he managed to impregnate anyway) and the lady with breast cancer Sean was seeing (and of course he probably would have had she not died.), but it was pretty ridiculous. I doubt the carver's Ava. It showed her in the airport about to get on her plane. If she is the carver, that's one of those stupid scenes that's in there exclusively to fool the audience. I hate these types of things (I'm looking at YOU M. Night Schalamalama) and I would hope they're above it. The only thing I'd bank on is the Carver being a woman.

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread
Special K replied to Gary Floyd's topic in Television & Film
Man, enjoy it while it lasts. What will it take for people to watch this show? By far the dirtiest episode of the series last night, and one of the funniest as well. Good job to all involved. The reaction to 'Musty old claptrap' was pure gold, as was G.O.B.'s positively pornographic line-reading of "that son of a bitch." Did anyone else notice the writing at the bottom of the statue of the little boy who found the severed hand? (heh) "He Came." Well, I'm so happy this shows back on the air, you can taste it. -
Who buys pop albums, though? There's got to be a very specific age group that pretty much controls the music industry. Any record store you go to will have their 25 cent bins packed chock-full of Simpson, Spears, N'Sync and Backstreet, along with other luminaries like Limp Bizkit and Creed. You never see GOOD albums that sold a shit-ton, like say, Thriller, or any of the good 90's grunge, or good rap albums in these bins. This would suggest that people buy these albums for one song, end up not liking the album most likely because only two songs have any effort put into them, then sell them back. And they don't learn from the experience. Do they do this over and over? Of course I've known 20 year old girls who do this too.

The OaO Arrested Development Season 3 thread
Special K replied to Gary Floyd's topic in Television & Film
It’s been a week since my last entry. I can explain. Last Thursday, I was counting ants in the prison yard and it was a scorcher but I remember, I started killing the ants with my feet, yelling “Die you little black bastards, die!” I got stabbed – a whole lot. When I woke up in the infirmary, I was surprised to find out that my stabber was the leader of an equal rights gang called: RAVIOLI or Rapists Against Violence Against Insects. When I went to apologize for killing the ants, I pointed out that ravioli doesn’t work as an acronym and they stabbed me again. Please God get me out of here! I think that’s blood on the keyboard. Yep, it is. I’m Oscar Bluth and I need medical attention! -
He sure can. And he can write songs about filthy sex. I don't think that is compensating for anything. I think he just likes filthy sex.

Silent Hill's getting there. I really like the series, but it has to come up with something new in the next game, I didn't even have the interest to finish The Room. Gabriel Knight. What a stunning drop in quality between installments. Final Fantasy I would agree with, except for the notable quality of FFX. Also, FFX-2 while a pretty bad game in general, it had a great system. You want a series that's gone on too long? The SaGa series. It SUCKS. Metal Slug. I love the games, but come one, 6 of them? Agreed on Tomb Raider. I really liked the first one, didn't much like the second, and couldn't stand the series past that point.

1000 Reasons why Late Night with Conan O'Brien
Special K replied to The Mandarin's topic in Television & Film
28: Paltrow SECRETS: "Every time I want to prepare for a big new movie role, I kill a hobo with a hammer." 29: No more Steve Carrell. 30: The 'lips' sketches. Particularly Arnold and Bill Clinton. 31: Tom Selleck and the Big Show, comedic duo extraordinaire. 32: Spock calmly giving the finger for half a minute to a long line of Star Wars nerds. -
Hm, I think I'll go with Boldin then. My other WR's Randy Moss, so that slot's taken!
-
I have Rudi Johnson starting for sure this week, he looks to be gold. Should my second RB be Larry Johnson or Lamont Jordan? They're playing each other, and both should do pretty well. I'm hesitantly playing Larry johnson just because I looked stupid benching him last week. Should I play Jimmy Smith or Boldin this week at second WR?
-
Well I'm glad they may be giving an explanation as to why Maxwell Lord suddenly went from loveable power-mongering goof to cold-blooded psychopath. That really didn't sit well with me, and I thought they were just retconning him into being evil 'all along!'

People give me shit because I listen to Sleater-Kinney and Bikini Kill, since they're 'riot grrrl' bands. Sleater-Kinney's so eclipsed that label that it's silly, really.
-
To me, American Idiot is like: awww, how cute! Green Day's trying to be the Dead Kennedies! I don't think the album's very good at all, and I generally like Green Day. Hell, Sleater-Kinney came out with 'One Beat', a pop-punky Bush bashing album, two years before AI, and it just kicks the shit out of AI. You know what? Green Day used to be able to write hooks, too. The guitar on AI is the same old THWBWAT THWBWAT THWBWAT three-chord trash that they had already grown out of by Dookie.

Metal Gear Solid 4 to feature much older Snake...
Special K replied to Use Your Illusion's topic in Video Games
I love that picture of him grinning, aiming his guns and smoking. I don't like the moustache. Hopefully there's unlockable costumes of "world's best grandpa" and "free moustache rides" I hear there's a mini-game where you have to sit on a rocking chair on your porch and stare out into the distance while a basset hound snoozes by your side. -
A) She looks an awful lot like Stephanie McMahon. B) Yeah, she sucks. I hate all that prefab pop shit in general, but she and Britney Spears take the cake because they CAN'T EVEN FUCKING SING.

Vermeil said he won't lose any playing time as a result. It was just a misdemeanor, and he turned himself in. I'm thinking bench kevin Jones. He's playing the toughest D, and is maybe the least talented of the bunch.

The official Rescue Me season 2 thread
Special K replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
The Shield was particularly weak this season, and being so actually diminished the previous seasons' builds. Rescue Me's been excellent so far, it's almost becoming like 6' Under, though, in that they just keep heaping more and more abuse on the characters until it becomes almost unbearable for the viewer. -
Damn, LJ turned himself on misdemeanor domestic abuse. Well, I have LaMont waiting in the wings if he misses a game or two.
-
Poor Javon Walker. He probably misses out on Favre's last season now. That's just weak.
-

Some of these have potential. The only one that seems completely stupid to me is Ant Man, since I don't have a clue as to what the hell the Power Pack is. In additional to Spider-Man, X-Men and F4, Daredevil and Punisher could have done well, but the movies weren't very good. It's all about the adaptation. They made a putrid movie out of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and a couple very good movies out of Blade. I think a problem Marvel has in general, though is a greater number of recognizable villains, while DC has a greater number of recognizable heroes (and the decent DC cartoons they put out helps that, I think.)
