Hey! Hey! Guys! I came up with a new pun that has never been used before ever! That's Redick-ulous. Never been used before. Came straight out of my brain.

*stabbed in the head* The mighty Damaramu has taken -17 experience points! Or some reasonable fcsimile.
-
You are absolved. I used it a least half a dozen times. If you want to, Dama, check out Palmer's blog. It's not very exciting, but he comes across as very humble. I really don't think he's the asshole you think he is. P.S. Does your name come from The Mighty Damaramu?

African-Americans: The Rock Needs YOU!
Special K replied to The Niggardly King's topic in No Holds Barred
I have a friend who's black who liked wrestling. Whenever we'd ride around he'd bump "Nation of Domination" on his stereo. Yes, he had the CD. Which also included the funniest version of 'sexy boy' ever. Sounded like Meatloaf. There's nothing like bumping "Nation of Domination" and mean-mugging random people. How did the rap go? It wasn't on the Cd, it was just the beat. We are the the nation, rhyming in color Don't dis the man 'cause I bum rush your mother This is what I'm sayin' for real and not playin' [Farroq, Savio, Rocky] is the man so hit your knees and start prayin' I can't believe I fucking remember that. -
I think this thread may have set the record for use of the word 'douche'.

Then we're agreed. Whaddayouknow? A reasonable discussion in the Sports forum. P.S. I still don't think Palmer's an asshole. P.P.S. Get well Ben.

A: I very specifically said that I didn't think the Bengals necessarilly would have won the game, but with Carson out, they were screwed. B: The Steelers were the only team to shut out Palmer during the season. Then they had their second game, and Palmer fucking destroyed them. I know you don't like Palmer, but most TDs in the league and a 100+ passer rating MIGHT, just might make him a good fucking quarterback. So, as I said, I don't necessarily think the Bengals would have won the game with Palmer, but they would've had a chance. And yeah, fucking torching the Steelers on his only pass of the game means something to me. Whatever, if he's healthy next year we'll see the Bengals win their division again. Palmer's a fucking stud. He's going to be cornholing the Steelers all night long.

Duh, that was the point! I hate the Cowboys (Well pretty much any texas team besides the Mavs and Texans. Pretty much every Florida-based team too) and Yankees. Does that make me a douche? Hardly. I wasn't trying to call you a douche, just trying to make a point. And I see your point now. I still <3 Palmer, I just took your post wrong. I had a little bitterness towards Cowher and Hines Ward for talking shit about beating a Palmer-less Cincy, but it's pretty slight. Cowher's an incredible coach, and I don't think it's really possible to hate Hines Ward. I will reiterate, though, to people who scoff at the Bengals, that the Steelers are only an average team w/o Big Ben. Maddox sucked big giant balls this season, and they had days to prep him. And Cincy's D might be a little suspect, but they would have picked of Maddox so many times it would've been embarassing . It's a little different to lose the vital cog of your offense at the very start of the game, and having to adjust on the fly. If either of the Johnsons had been injured, Cincy still could have won. COULD not WOULD. Once Palmer was out, though, it fucked them. Plain and simple. Not really sour grapes, I think. The Steelers D adjusted to Kitna incredibly quickly. He looked good at first, but then they shut him down once they had seen him. As I said, I'm very much looking forward to the Steelers/Bengals game next season if both QB's are healthy. The only really untoward thing I've seen out of Palmer is the Heismann thing. As I stated earlier, I think he was very classy after the Steelers playoff game, when a LOT of players would have whined and moaned.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
Special K replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
It's sort of weird. I like Star Trek just fine, but with Star Wars, you had 6 hours of film and that was it. Lots of room to expand. I think Star Trek hit every sci-fi plot known to man between its various series and movies. Is the Star Trek EU more space opera type stuff? (i.e. more like Star Wars?) -
Well he IS shorter than Maura Tierney... Of course he could be like Elijah Wood in Sin City.
-
Dean Winters is in the credits? Excellent. Now we just have to have his brother (who played Cyril O'Reilly) show up as a Gavin.
-
No one seems to remember that with Kitna, the Bengals still went up something like 14-3 before they imploded. And yeah, losing one of the top 3 QBs in football, and the most important member of your team (who burned the Steelers for 60 yds in his only play) might have a little something to do with losing the game. And no, I don't think they injured him purposefully. You think the Steelers would have had that magical postseason run with Mr. XFL under center? You're out of your fucking mind. The only reason they were ranked sixth is beause they had Maddox start a few games, and he likes throwing to CBs better than WRs. And Dama, I know you loathe USC and Palmer and blah blah blah, but he was nothing but a class act after that game, even if some Cincy fans weren't. Oh, yeah, Palmer's such a douche for hating Notre Dame. You must be a douche for hating USC then. That said it's terrible and fucking pathetic to be happy over this injury. Roethlisberger seems like a decent guy. I hope Big Ben and Palmer are both completely healed by the start of the season. Their teams have a great divisional rivalry, and, hey, I like watching good, exciting, football. That's just me though. I must be a shitty fan because I enjoy football even when the Seahawks and the Bengals suck. And it's written in stone that I have to hate every one on the Steelers with a passion because they beat my team in the SB. Too bad. Hines Ward is awesome. Jerome Bettis is awesome. And their head coach is fantastic.

It's common knowledge that Avengers Dissambeled sorta sucked. I haven't read it. I read very little Marvel 616 stuff except for quirky stuff like X-statix. Oh, and Astonishing X-Men kicks ass, at least as far as I've seen. So: I think he's bad with continuity. Here's a bunch of shit he's writte that is good to awesome: Kinx: Awesome also drawn by him Goldfish: Good. did the art. Torso: Vastly overrated, Imo. But I didn't like From Hell very much either. Not my style of story, no matter how well researched. Powers: Awesome. One of my favorite comics Alias: Again, really good. Jessica Dres is a fucking great character I hope to see more of. Ultimate Spider-Man: It moves a little bit slow, but it's a great fucking series. compare this reimagination fo SM to Allstar Goddamn Batman. I think he may be a little overworked, and he's not so great with continuity, but in general, I really like his stuff. I'll say Ultimate Spider-Man and Kingdom Come got me back into comics.

Heavy Metal Band Tournament: Nomination Thread
Special K replied to AboveAverage484's topic in Music
If Marylin Manson was Metal, then Nine Inch Nails would be metal, and I'd nominate them. NIN is a far better, and FAR more original band than Marylin Manson. However, they're industrial. I like industrial, I still listen to NIN, Tool and Ministry on occasion, but I don't consider them heavy metal. -
See No Evil Lions is doing surprisingly well, IMO.

The best performances of this decade
Special K replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
Good noms. Pretty much the entire cast of Oz, but particularly: Schillinger, Adebisi, Kareem Said, Beecher, Ryan O'Reilly and maybe most of all that sick fuck Keller. It truly is an amazing show. New nom: Jason Dohring as Logan on Veronica Mars It takes a lot of charisma to totally change the course of a show. Kristen Bell is great, but Jason Dohring, IMO is the best actor on the show. He went from a one-note "obligatory psychotic jackass" to one of the most complex, troubled, characters on TV. His character's evolution in the first season is masterful. The thing that makes the character great is he's still a complete jackass on the surface. His comedic timing is impeccable, and his dramatic acting is just as good. From his first appearance, where he's just supposed to be a prick, his performance still gives you the idea, very subtly, that there's something under the surface. Best comedice perfomance? Will Arnett and Micahel Cera from Arrested Development, though it's hard to pick and choose from that perfect cast. God I'm still so motherfucking pissed that they cancelled AD. -
Dear Mr. Show. I really love you guys. Oh boy, you're really funny and I especially love your songs. It reflects such an enlightened attitude. Please keep up the good work. Signed you're hugest fan, Sharwood Lish. XOXOXO Smiley face! There, that ought to show them Yeah, I'm well aware they remade Psycho. I can't believe it was 8 years ago, though. Time flies.
-
Hitman? Tommy and Natt would often dine at a restaurant with comically oversized burgers. I miss Hitman.
-
Next thing you know they'll remake Psycho...... Fuck. Has anyone heard anything about Grindhouse? It's a Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino collection of short horror stories? I loved Dusk 'til Dawn, maybe it'll be good.

Huh? Not being a dick, just don't know what you're talking about. If they cast a ten-years-younger Cary Elwes, I'd be there in a second. I didn't like Hulk too much, a 2, 2.5 star movie /4. I liked the premise of a completely emotionally shut-off man with rage buried within as a metaphor, and I thought it was well directed, and the leads did the best they could, but it had problems. It really did have pacing issues. I wish Connelly's character was a little less withdrawn. This isn't a comedy of manners like Sense & Sensibility. There was only one good action scene. As has been mentioned before, Nolte and The guy from Stealth chewed the scenery like crazy. (to be fair, Nolte was entirely enjoyable doing so, it just didn't fit.) I thought Sam Elliott was very good.

I once hurt my shoulder sneezing. And I seriously once choked on a piece of Slim Jim (yeah, yeah, I know). I immediately recognized what was happening and could still breath through my nose, so I didn't inhale through my mouth. After maybe a minute I got it out. I was in a state of panic for a bit there.

Hey, at least it's not Traci Lords
-
A ham hock and beans (pinto and navy) with a can of generic tomato sauce is bomb. The day before you cook it, soak the beans in water, then throw out the water. It 'de-farts' the beans. Seriously. Then you're gettin' a stew on, baby.

The whole "Mmm! Hero Cola! Slakes a thirst after saving children!" thing is a lot less charming when everything's going to hell, his best friend's dead, and millions of people have just died.

Is this directed at me?
