"Sweet Jane" and "Superstar" were what I first thought of. Boogieman's a pretty good choice too. Scissor Sister's cover of "Comfortably Numb" is really quite bad, but it cracked me up. Ween's "LMLYP" covering Shockadelica is pretty swell.

IT'S! TRICKY! TO ROCK A RHYME TO ROCK A RHYME THAT's RIGH-oh fuck.

Meaning, they'll be listened to for quite a while. There's some bands, like Sleater-Kinney, Blonde Redhead, L'~, that I HOPE are popular in the long run, but certainly aren't now. (Plus they've both been playing for quite a while) Some suggestions. Queens of the Stone Age: Their last two albums are by far their best. Can write some sexy songs, and can definitely play some of that guitar. They put on a terrific live show, I've seen them thrice. Franz Ferdinand: Two good albums and charisma. Their live performances of their songs put the studio recordings to shame. Seen 'em twice. The Strokes: WAY overhyped, but they've survived it. Many will differ in opinion, but I think they're getting steadily better. Either way, they're evolving. Supposedly good live, their back and forth guitar work is pretty fun. Coldplay: I started out liking Coldplay just fine, then they made the same song 80 times. Their best melody was lifted from Kraftwerk. Nonetheless, they're massively popular, and I don't see it ending soon. Calling them rock may be a bit generous, though. On the cusp? The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I liked their first album quite a bit. They have a really sloppy, but very energetic live show. Really hinges on their second album. While Karen O's squealing, brew-swilling theatrics get all the press, the guitarist and drummer are more than solid. I know a few people who bought the album for 'Maps' and were turned off by the rest of the album. White Stripes: Have had some really good albums, but the last one left me cold. Problem? They can't duplicate their sound live, and are sort of terrible live. Meg is NOT a good drummer, and they need to form a touring band to accentuate Jack White's work. Ben GIbbard. Death Cab is a decent band. As girly, introspective bands go, they're tops for me. Postal Service is the way to go, though, and he should embrace it. Has a pleasant voice, and can write some good songs. He can also write some tremendously cloying lyrics. Notable: I don't think any of the nu-wave bands are going to last. Killers et al will be a footnote. Same with the generally talentless emo bands. Dreary Joy Division-lite bands like Interpol and She Wants Revenge. I saw Interpol live, because Blonde Redhead opened for them. BR was awesome. Interpol was just dreary.

You see, Obi-Wan is Optimus, and Darth Vader is Megatron, and Unikron is the emperor! You can make all kinds of lazy comparisons, because any heroic quest tale is going to have shared elements. See, Optimus is Gandalf! And Frodo is Rodimus! And the Matrix is the One Ring! You can make the Transformers movie into an allegory about just about anything, because it's so basic. You just have to really reach. EDIT: Just look at the people trying to say that LoTR was RaYcist!

Try being a Seattle fan. One National Championship from the Sonics back in '79. (Before I was born, and I'm 25). The Sonics are intermittently successful, much like the Seahawks, but every Seattle team is known as a bunch of chokers. Mariners have never been to a WS, Seahawks finally went, thank God. (then they got no respect) I gotta say it must suck being a Cubs fan.

How people can hate on ketchup and praise that astringent, bright yellow mustard is beyond me. Dijon, Polish, stoneground. There are so many vastly superior mustards that aren't so damn sour.

The first act of the original was really tautly-paced and nicely creepy. The rest sucked.

Oh, that's terrible! There's a meat-bowl at Denny's which is Ham, bacon, sausage, eggs and hash browns. Probably cheese too. I don't know how people can eat things like that.

Here in seattle we're pretty blessed with all types of food, and more restaurants than anywhere I've seen outside of Texas (Houston has a restaurant to every two houses in the city, I swear). I think we have excellent restaurants in all Cuisines, except for southern foods. We have one decent soul food restaurant I know of, only one good BBQ joint, which isn't even technically in Seattle, and one horribly overpiced cajun eattery. Pretty much everything else, we're in like Flint.

Quality recognizes quality: 2nd to last Arrested Development epi had a Veronica Mars reference censored.

In the absence of AD, this is probably my favorite show. And I want Jim and Pam to get together SO BADly. Whatever. I'm gay.

Buck Rogers for the Genesis. I think it was modeled after Pool of Radience. That's a hell of a game.

This game is going to kick ass. Kingdom Hearts kicked ass, and it was only an average game. The Disney/FF element made it awesome. Tron world=the best thing ever. I'm glad Tifa's in it. No more Mandy Moore. I wonder if David Boreanaz is back. He was great as Leon/Squall. I really hope this game and FFXII are tremendous. Squeenix has clearly taken their time to get things right.

Matt Dillon could really work. He can act, and has the look. I've always thought Cary Elwes would be the ideal Stark. He's work as Strange, too.
