It was crazy, I thought that I had this litle cult author going on, BAM Cryptonomicon comes out. Cryptonomicon is an incredible book, it's also one of the LAST sci-fi books i thought I'd be seeing in an airport. Speaking of airports, I lost my first edition signed copy of Cryptonomicon going home from college, having just having finished it. (And just having finished college.) I was PISSED. I left it at the check-in counter, but it was that or go home. Let me reiteratete, I was PISSED. Neal Stephenson was at a book fair in Seattle long ago, he remembered me, and he's hell of a nice guy. After Dad and I wired his house, he gave me Snow Crash, which was well worn. We talked for about 10 munites, no one was around. This was before college. After college her had literally three times the people for a reading than William f'in Gibson! (I want William Gibson to have my babies) It was crazy. Incidentally, Stephenson gives great readings. He answers questions for like, half an hour, and has far more diverse a crowd. (not race-wise, age-wise, he has old ladies clutching their books as feverishly as I was). "And hey, that series has an actual ending." You spoiled it! He's not supposed to have endings! William Gibson (again my favorite author, I taught a fucking class about him, involuntarily) He was very smart, brought up some good points, but he was just very dry, read, answered a few questions, that's it.

I don't think it'll last long though. Fox has this weird marketing scheme...

Yeah, you do have a point. I've been revelling in negativity a little too much LOST Season One, IMO, is one of the best seasons ever. It deos mirror Alieas and Twin Peaks, inasmuch as it's a very opqaque show. I don't think any actors are bad... or at least charming (Hurley) THey are all really good. I'll miss Ecko for sure. I generally just don't like Locke and Sayid being ignored, which is clearly a consicous decision. Sawyer still rules. Kate still rules (though she doens't have the edge she did. Jack is good too. Seriously though, I'll still watch the show, but the overwehelming negativity (admittedly, too much from me) has to be coming from somewhere. Are we getting new eps?

We are, but Slayer is really funny. Changed though, I forgot Slayer won last year, and should have been exempt. EDIT: Point still stands, Slayer won once, so Matt gets the vote. And Matt's a homie. One who homes.

According to comic book resources, take the book on its own merits; it's just that the media picked up the story and ran with it. (How could they kill the very symbol of America, Waaaaah!) I think if anything, this may prompt Marvel to keep him 'dead' a little while longer to milk it. We'll see. How's the issue though? Another great cover.

Raiden. The first time through I played the game I got all the characters and Espers, except Shadow, and pretty much all the uber items. I did have two saves for the Ragnarok, and didn't get the paladin shield (that is beyond the level od keeping Shadow, you HAVE to know that shit. Plus I never got the Illumina. (Who in their right mind would wager the Ragnarok?) One thing I did get was the Offering/Fixed Dice combo. Just because I loved Setzer. I do really love FFVII. I was in fact enamored with it when it first came out. But it did start the downward trend of LONG LONG cutscenes, and LONG LONG sidequests. Honestly, even getting knight of the round, much less beating the weapons was ridiculous. Especially when you can wipe the last boss with Omnislash in one go.
