I used to dream about The_Satanic_Angel. Still do from time to time. But that's hardly surprising since she's my ex-girlfriend.

In that case, there should be no surprise there, unless you've never had more than two minutes of a White Sox game on in the last 20 years. i don't have any chicago channels. we got this one through a canadian sportsnet channel. honest to god, he's the worst sporting announcer ever. ever. Yeah, I can't stand that guy. At all. It's so nice to be living in Rhode Island again where I can watch every game on NESN. (Not to say Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy aren't totally biased, but they aren't quite as blatant about it.) In Florida you could only watch when they played on ESPN or FOX or when they played Tampa Bay (on a local network) or Chicago (on WGN). And I wouldn't watch when they played Chicago.

Carmona came damn close to doing the same thing to Dustin Pedroia tonight. Anyways, second consecutive pitching duel leads to a second straight 1-0 game in Cleveland. But after Dice-K outduelling Sabathia last night, this time it's Carmona who beats Beckett. Both pitchers go eight and give up four hits.

However did I miss this strange and wonderful place? I can make free calls on weekends. I should call in and talk about not knowing absolutely anything about the fed these days.

The OAO Official SWF 2006 Party Birthday Thread

Happy birthday... IAN! -
We don't. All-Star Voting this year began only a month into the season. That's insufficient sample time to be able to vote *anybody.* Smart fans should be voting based on accomplishments from the previous season as well as time served so far in the current one. And if you believe otherwise, maybe the All-Star game needs to be held during the offseason.

Is MLB.TV in some kind of free preview? I clicked on a half-inning while reading a box score and was surprised to see the video actually coming up instead of giving me ads to subscribe. for the record, it was the Red Sox game. Maybe because it was a Fox game MLB allows free viewing? *shrug*

J. D. Drew hit what should have been a 3-run homer (with Ortiz and Ramirez on base and two out). It landed on a ledge (*over* the home run line) then bounced off the back of the ledge and back down to the field. Ortiz scores, the ump rules the play a ground-rule double, and a confused Ramirez is thrown out at home to end the inning. Every replay clearly shows the ball landing on the ledge (you didn't even need replay to see it). Francona comes out to argue, and the umpires huddle. They *don't* reverse the call, Francona argues more and is thrown out. The funny thing is that Francona and the same umpire crew were talking about that very same ledge the day before, so you'd think the umpires would have known what they were doing. Thome hit a three-run shot an inning later but the Sox more than made up for the deficit. A couple innings later the Sox took the lead when they loaded the bases and Coco Crisp cleared them with a 3-run triple, and in the eighth they put the game out of reach when Lugo (Lugo?!) hit a grand slam. 10-3 final score (and Contreras gave up every one of those 10 runs). Win #13 for Beckett, who went six innings and struck out 10.

...Kiefer was in it this season?

...1 or 2 run games, involving a Sicilian, when DEATH is on the line!

The dance sequence in Spider-Man 3. I am by no means calling Spider-Man 3 a "great" movie, I know it's been widely criticized on the boards, but I liked it. Except for that scene.

I thought Mr. Galatea was dead? You can't have a birthday if you're dead. Unless you're Elvis. -
Franco still wants to play till he's 50 (he turns 49 in August). Don't know if anyone will pick him up at this stage though. Al, what in your opinion are Franco's HOF chances as things stand now?

I'll be watching that one. Halladay vs. Wakefield tonight.

The guy kind of looks like Jim Belushi. I was wondering if he had started to make a living by entering contests, but then I remembered According to Jim actually got renewed again.

Oh, I didn't really expect Boston would get him, but it was a name that I seem to recall coming up often the last year or two.

Guess we'll be keeping Coco Crisp around for awhile.

Buehrle's not going anywhere. Just signed a four-year extension with Chicago.

Much like Bobby Cox and his ejections, I'm not sure that's a record I'd want to be proud of. Of course, it's really inevitable for any team if it sticks around long enough.
