The OaO 2003-2004 NBA Season Thread!

I won't argue that the numbers are there, but this is the key number here IMO. He's definitely an All-Star with the full season, I won't argue that. Edited for grammar purposes

    NBA All-Stars

Shaq only missed the Indy game because he was suspended. Kobe only cut his finger and should only miss the minimum number required for being on the list. Don't know about JO, but a strained neck doesn't *sound* bad, and he hasn't been put on the IL, so he should be okay, too.

    NBA All-Stars

Shaq was picked to the team simply because he is Shaq. Ray Allen making the team is the coaches proving to all of us that it's not just the fans who look at scoring and only scoring when judging a player's ability. See also: Davis, Baron. I say drop them and go with Randolph and Andre Miller.

Looks like he doesn't have a choice now. The Knicks signed Dermarr Johnson.

    Fantasy NBA League?

I wanted to pick up Szczerbizak when he was dumped, but I was worried moreso about when he *does* come back how big of a chunk will be taken from his stats with Spree and Cassell there now. Plus, I couldn't afford to lose McKie's threes at the time, but finally dumped him for Charlie Ward today. This also now gives me three point guards, so if someone wants one, feel free to offer a trade. I'd prefer a center in return, but I'll listen to whatever. Why can't Randolph or Gasol be played at center? Gasol is 7 foot and has played center or at least guarded a lot of centers in the past, and Randolph I think has started the last few games at center as well.

Don't ignore the fact that I said he was RIGHT in what he said. I'm not "pissed" at Shaq at all, in fact I thought it was funny. It was just so blatantly hypocritical and ironic that I had to reach for an example, and that was the easiest one I could think of. I'm not a fan of any of the teams in this discussion.

Just read that any Rookie Challenge player named to the All-Stars will be allowed to play in both games.

Oh, sorry. One illegal screen justifies calling 27 fouls IN ONE FUCKING QUARTER. Silly me.

140 last night. I only got 2 from Slava, but I can forgive him since he really padded his VGM average while Shaq was out. 2/3: PG: Sam Cassell SG: Reggie Miller (you didn't think I'd pass up Reggie in the Garden, did you?) SF: Kevin Garnett PF: Antawn Jamison C: Brad Miller Coach: Flip Saunders Only 31 VGMs and I have 10,000!

I don't have a clip or anything, but here's what was said: Shaq: "They wanna know why the league's losing money, that's why. These people pay good money to come see these great athletes, and they try to come in and take over the fuckin' game." Announcer: "Shaq, we're on live." Shaq: "I don't give a shit." This right after Fox and Payton nearly tore both of Vince Carter's arms out by the sockets. Poor Shaq, those Lakers just get no breaks from the officials. If he wants, I can send him a tape of Game 6 with the Kings a couple years ago and show him what a fat fucking hypocrite he is. Having said that though, he DOES have a point. The refs do have a job to do, but when it comes down to it, the players should dictate the game.

For those who complain about people flopping (me included), witness Chauncey Billups in last night's game against Memphis. It's tied at 78, and he goes up for a jumper and does that thing he did last year against the Nets at the end of game two where he kicks his legs out and falls on the ground, Gasol gets ALL BALL, but gets called for a foul with 0.2 left. Of course Billups proceeds to sink both free throws and Memphis gets screwed.

And everyone should turn over to ESPNNEWS to see the Pacers/Celtics highlights...Bird and Ainge are sitting next to each other in the crowd, and after the final play, they show Bird clapping while Ainge is sitting there with a look on his face like someone just ran over his dog. PRICELESS.

I wouldn't trade Ratliff for Wallace. Ratliff pretty much IS Atlanta's defense right now. And I don't think the Hawks will be trading any of their first round picks anytime soon.

Only the Pacers could score 43 in a quarter and STILL not get to 100.
