The Pat yourself on the back thread

I called Bama making the Elite 8 last year despite people saying they'd bow out to Southern Illinois, nonetheless Stanford or defending national champion Syracuse.

    Orton

If you were going to pull the plug on guys because they were below average wrestlers(as one of the main reasons, obviously), that would include Christian, too...

Official 2005 TSM NFL Mock Draft

With the 21st pick in the TSM NFL Mock Draft, the Jacksonvlle Jaguars select Dan Cody, Defensive End, Oklahoma. Player: Dan Cody Position: Defensive End Height: 6'5 1/2 Weight: 254 40 time: 4.75 Strengths: Has a good frame and can carry more weight...Very productive...Good athlete...Very tough and competitive and is always giving 100%...Smart and instinctive...Good pass rusher...Solid versus the run...Shows good technique...Developed into a team leader. Weaknesses: Has some character concerns after he quit the football team in 2001 to be treated for depression...Needs to bulk up and get bigger...Has to hit the weight room and work on his strength...May be a bit of a DE / OLB 'tweener without a true position at the next level. My reasoning: The Jaguars defensive line is known for only it's DTs for a reason and that's because ever since both Henderson and Stroud arrived, the DEs have been very dissapointing in producing sacks and stopping the run at the corners. With the aquisition of Denver's Hayward this off-season and hopefully a complete recovery for Paul Spicer, the depth of the defensive end position and the growth of Cody(putting on some more weight, learning the schemes) will play a major role in shoring up one of the few weaknesses on a young and vastly improving defensive unit. Now, as far as shoring up the CB position by getting a compliment to Rashean Mathis, there are a fair amount of good-to-decent corners in this year's draft, so picking up a good corner in the second or third round is pretty good, so there's no need to get one in the first round and pass on improving a weak point on the defensive line.

Why I can't go to lunch right now

You could go to Birmingham... but why? To get lost in the insane amount of backroads and claim he survived? God, I hate trying to navigate my way through that damned city...

Matt Hardy speaks on he and Lita splitting

Meh, why are people almost having heart attacks over this? Big freakin' deal, a wrestler cheats on his wife with someone he works with, it's not like shit like that has NEVER happened before in the scummy world of pro wrestling, so why bother getting all upset and yelling for a depush? Hell, if anything, I'd bet Vince doesn't particularly care either since he's probably done the exact same thing. Of course, there's the whole "Matt putting his personal business out on the net for everyone to see/talk about", so whatever...

    Robot Chicken

They re-ran it 3 times, I think. Twice on weeknights(initial airing and starting over again) and then they moved it to weekends for a bit til they took it off(kinda like Witch Hunter Robin).

Stupid comments by sports radio hosts

Hockey is the best! I love Russle becuase he is the only American on Radio who has thr guts to call the NBA garbage, which it is. Other that the Suns, Sonics, Kings and Mavs, the NBA is boring as hell and too many people who play it are egomaniacs who would rather roll with their crew than work on thier jumpers. FG% and FT% DO show how pathetic the league has become. What's really funny is how the guy who does the weeknight shift he does on the weekends, Kevin Wheeler, totally ripped apart his lil theory, so it was pretty funny listening to Russell stumble all over himself when someone else brought up those same talking points to shut him up for once. Hell, someone needs to do it again just so I laugh my ass off again.

Stupid comments by sports radio hosts

Chris Russell off of SportingNews Radio. Dude doesn't know shit about basketball, yet he seems to fancy himself as some guru on what's wrong with the game while waxing nostalgia over the Showtime era and only using fg percentage and FT percentage to back up his "points". One guy called in to debunk his shit one night and when he completely destroyed the field goal % crap, Russell cut him off and prattled on and on about how basketball fans are ignorant morons and hockey was the best.

This is pretty much the same thing I told Sass when I was trying to find out what the hell was going on.

    24

Man, this episode was fucking killer. I was sitting in the chair talking a buddy and said, "Man, Jack's kinda fucked here," and then the gunshots started and I went, "HOLY SHIT! IT'S FUCKING TONY!" On an unrelated note: I knew I shouldn't have looked at the preview for next week, in fact, I was turning around to watch the second half of RAW, but the preview popped up and I couldn't control myself, dammit...

    Venture Bros

The pirate episode(the corpse of that pilot just standing there screaming was a fucking riot) and "Are You There, God? It's Me, Dean" had me about to die from laughing so much. I hope and pray to Jeebus that it's picked up for new seasons and that the Monarch is still the big villian because he kicks 20 different kinds of ass.

    Interview with HHH

Okay, I don't get what revelence this has to anything since, y'know, the HEEL is SUPPOSED TO JOB IN THE WM MAIN EVENT! Hell, other than Hogan, I'm pretty sure that if Rock and/or Austin were positioned as the heel in the WM 20 main event, they'd have tapped too without any question since both guys have tapped to Benoit previously with him winning the match against Rock and there being no ref for the Austin match. Seriously, other than Hogan(who we know has already ducked out of a situation like this before), I don't see how the comparison can be made between HHH and Rock/Austin at all.
  17. AlwaysPissedOff

    Interview with HHH

Why do people have selective memory about this match? It seems like everyone remembers Hurricane winning, but never the circumstances behind it like: - Hurricane getting the fluke roll-up because Austin had distracted Rock(same thing as HHH's "clean" job to Benjamin because he was distracted, as well). - Hurricane being virtually invisible after getting the pin and the WWE not even playing his music. and finally... - Rock stomping the living shit out of Hurricane the next week. Other than the backstage stuff, never at any point did Rock make it look like Helms was anything more than a comedy jobber.

Hooters no longer airing WWE PPV

Eh, the local Hooters here stopped showing PPVs back in 2003 starting with the Rumble. Can't say I'll miss it since their food is ass and some of the girls acted all stuck up.
  22. AlwaysPissedOff

Vikings don't want Joe Buck to announce the game

    - That's part of the mockery, the average media person always seems to bow to the egomaniacs so they incorporated it into the commercials. Hence, it's still not hypocrisy for Buck to do them and rag on Moss. Now, to clear this up a bit, I thought Buck overreacted at the whole thing, so I'm not saying he should have said what he did, but linking the Moss thing to the Bud commercials is just searching for a connection that just isn't there.
  23. AlwaysPissedOff

Vikings don't want Joe Buck to announce the game

How is it hypocrisy when the commercial is MOCKING egomaniacs in the first place? Hell, Budweiser's crappy tagline is "True", so Leon's an egotistical dick at heart, therefore he acts like one. Sheesh, those ads aren't exactly rocket science to figure out.

    Football Fans in your Area

Going to a bar filled with drunken Alabama fans and Auburn fans watching the Iron Bowl is quite the experience... Personally, I'd recommend riot gear and tear gas.

    "New" Astroboy trailer 2003 series

Eh, it doesn't matter with me most of the time, but there are shows where I won't watch the subs for at all(Slayers, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, unedited Kenshin, and any of the Tenchi series). It's nothing against the Japanese VAs who worked on said shows, it's just that the English ones sound better(IMHO, obviously).
