Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...
AlwaysPissedOff replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
No one says Hogan is a good-great seller because HE ISN'T! People say Austin was a good-to-great seller because HE WAS! The only thing both of those guys have in common is that they were huge, company-saving draws. -
A character is a gimmick.... Ummmm... no. A character would be Austin, Rock, HHH, Brock, Angle, Benoit, Eddy, Jericho, Christian, Booker T A gimmick would be Hurricane, Rosey, or Rico

Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...
AlwaysPissedOff replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Read pages 3-5 of It's Official. All I'm saying is it seems that if you come on here and don't say that Austin/Benoit's on your top 5 you get your ass handed to you. Everybody here has to defend themselves. Why can't a person just have an opinion? I respect everybody's opinion. Because an opinion isn't a fact. Some people just get so defensive. When you say really stupid shit like this: You better expect to get called out for it. Also... What the fuck does selling have to do with jobbing? -
Yes they happened. But my whole point, which everyone has been avoiding is that Austin's major feud before all this was with Rock. You don't just become a Main Eventer without being built up first. And Rock and Austin were both used to build up each other. The Rock feud in 97 wasn't a major feud, PERIOD. Owen/Austin WAS. Bret/Austin WAS. Austin/Rock WASN'T. Plus, Auatin didn't need to be built up at that point in time, Rock did. YOU said it didn't happen til after WM 14. It happened after Survivor Series 97, therefore, you still have no point. Using Rock in 97 was a conveinence for Vince at the time. Rock was never a real part of the feud until late 98 when he turned heel again after his quasi-face run for the 2 months before.
-
Why the hell did you say that? No one ever said Rock wasn't a draw, but the facts remain that Austin was drawing long before Rock did.
-
Yeah, considering the fact that happened BEFORE he became Stone Cold and that he drew millions BEFORE they feuded in late 98. Guess the Foley, Taker, and Kane feuds didn't happen, right? Figments of my imagination, right? He became Mr. McMahon AFTER the Screwjob. Hell, you could even say he turned before *that* when he confronted Austin about wrestling Owen after he came back from damn near getting paralyzed. Wow.. you just totally missed the point on why I said that... Rock was not a *MAJOR* part of the Austin/McMahon feud until late 98. He was a goddamn LACKEY in 97.

Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...
AlwaysPissedOff replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Austin never was a high flyer in his career. Honestly what legitamite offense dose Austin consistently do other than the Thez press and Stunner. Eventually he added a spinebuster. Booker smokes Austin in WCW. All Austin did in the WWE past his neck injury is stomp, punch, the occasional suplex, chop, thez press, and stunner. Eventually he added a spinebuster. Booker's moveset in WCW was miles better, and all eight of his matches with Benoit were better than Austin's match with Benoit. ... WHAT? Austin/Benoit smokes every single one of the Benoit/Booker matches, easily. Ummmm... Steamboat/Luger happened the same time as Sting/Muta, yet you say you don't remember it? And BTW, Steamboat/Luger and Luger/Pillman smoke Sting/Luger. That match was decent, not great. While back before the Crow days was a pretty good worker in his own right, he's not better than Austin. Ummm... Austin/Steamboat, while very good, isn't on the same level as Austin/Foley, Austin/Angle, nor Austin/Benoit He was the ref for that match and both Kane and Taker had wrestled like 15 minutes before he stunned them both. It doesn't excuse him at all, but it's better than doing a fucking kip-up after your opponent has been killing your back all match long. Rock/Benoit was nowhere near Austin/Benoit. The Dusty Finish alone kills that argument. Not ONE Rock/Taker match has ever been on the level of Austin/Taker from SummerSlam 98. Savage and Flair. Egads... are you high or something? The only GOOD match on that entire crappy PPV was Austin/Foley and even THAT wasn't all that good to begin with. Rock/Bossman? HA! Rock/Shamrock? BORING! Rock/Taker? Boring AND a shitty finish! Rock/Foley? Meandering crap. -
Yeah, Austin fighting Vince still would have been good without Corporate Champ, The Rock, huh? Austin drew millions long before Rock became the Corporate Champion. Ummmm... no. Vince had already been the "Mr. McMahon" character before that and Rock was essentially a lackey midcarder that he used to get the IC Title off of Austin. Not til late 98. You're insane. HBK was dropping that belt no matter what. It didn't matter *who* was champion going into WM 14, Austin was winning it that night. To say otherwise is just mind-numbingly stupid. Plus, Taker was already locked into the Kane feud, so he wasn't free, and Rock was nowhere NEAR ready to carry the title at that time. If Vince had done what you had just said he probably would have, the WWF/E would be what WCW is now: DEAD. Austin/McMahon created the boom for the WWF, Rock didn't even factor into the equation until late 98-early 99, so again, you're wrong.

Smarks EZBoard alumni roll call
AlwaysPissedOff replied to The Czech Republic's topic in No Holds Barred
I joined during the Rantsylvania days before it became theSmarks in 2001 and lurk for a couple of months before finally posting shortly after WM 17. Obviously, the same name as before. -
... Who the hell is "Cousin Itt's #1 Fan"?
-
Ooooookayyyy... Who was that lil tirade directed at?
-
Eh, I knew Orton was going to be added just as soon as Austin recruited HBK, so I'm indifferent to it. As for Batista, I was just bored by the whole thing, and to be honest, all I saw of Batista tonight was the Maven squash and his speech to Austin(I was on the can for the last 20 minutes of the show and came back after Goldberg and Austin were standing in the ring.
-
Eh, I pretty much prefer Goldberg keeping the title because he hasn't been as horribly overexposed as Hunter has been since he joined the RAW roster. As for Evolution as a whole? Meh, fuck 'em all, even Flair. Even when they've scaled down Evolution's TV time, I still find them incredibly boring(insert usual anti-smark "witty" comment here) to the point where I just watch something else when their music hits. Whether anyone actually agrees with me or not, I couldn't really be bothered to give a shit.

You just described a new user. That's because when someone is banned here, the name they used is deleted. So, in order to post again here, they would have to make a new name.
-
Heh, I just knew that was coming just as soon as I saw his name down at the bottom...
-
if he/she was IP banned and came back under a new name with a new IP, that one would be banned, too.
-
Basically, if you're IP banned, your IP number is put into a filter and if you try to access the boards again using the same IP, you won't get in. That's pretty much my uneducated shot at it.

Like who? Can a brotha get some examples here?

What a horrible week...

I think its time for another anime thread
AlwaysPissedOff replied to Renegade's topic in Television & Film
EDIT: Oops... nevermind. -
Somehow, I knew that's what you were doing in the CP, Tom...
-
Kindly stop your whining already. You started a thread on an event that's probably had more threads started on it than any other happening in wrestling history(and has been dissected to death) like 2 or 3 weeks beforehand IN THE WRONG FORUM. I don't give a damn if the anniversery is coming up or not, IT'S NOT A CURRENT HAPPENING IN THE WWE! Therefore, if you put it in the wrong forum, it's gonna be moved, whether you like it or not.
-
A word to the not-so-wise... When you post stuff like this in here, other members can pretty come in and say what they want, so telling them to "shut the fuck up and stay out" is like waving a butter knife at a samurai and expecting him to cower in fear...
-
Charles Manson idea? For Flair? Or Foley? Back when Mick first joined the WWF, they were coming up with names for the Mankind character and Vince said his name was going to be "Manson the Mutilator" until Foley came up with the Mankind name.
