That whole diva segment was mean spirited, yet strangely amusing. They hit the nail on the head with Carmello never showing any enthusiam, although one of the girls went too far by saying she makes fun of the wrestlers, thats some behind the back stuff. That was very mean though, ah well, she'll still win. The rest are jealous though.

Was it just me, or was Trish extra hot in that last segment?

I agree with whoever said that their was no way Eugene was going to get cheered either way. HHH represents the Austin/Rock/Foley 'cool' era of wrestling. He's the only consistent character in the modern era of wrestling. You can't just bring in a guy like Eugene and expect any fans to get so sympathetic towards a guy who from a character stand point, clearly shouldn't be wrestling anyways. HHH is going to get facepops wherever he goes. Honestly, what face is there who is a strong enough character to turn an entire crowd against HHH, who is basically the main character in the WWE the last 2 years? Benoit is the only guy who can get the majority of the crowd to cheer against him, but everybody else is probably going to go half way towards HHH and half way towards the face or fully towards HHH. He is the cool heel who actually gets enough mic time to develop his character. He's the only wrestler who makes it seem like his entire life depends on him winning the title or being the best. It was setting Eugene up for failure by throwing him in there.

Late night talk show shakeup coming..
Shanghai Kid replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in Television & Film
Carson Daly sucks, how can you be a late show host and not even be remotely funny? I don't think Chris Rock would turn it down, but his show would be too raw for CBS. You know who would be great? Micheal Essany, you know, from the Micheal Essany show from E!. Still mad they canceled that show. I think DL Hughley could pull it off, him or Steve Harvey would be a good choice. -
Raw has become too generic as some people have said. Every Raw now just builds up to the PPV and nothing exciting happens. Back in the day they would still hype the PPVs, but they would have alot of exciting stuff happen on the TV shows. Now, Raw is just the same old boring, Evolution vs random faces every week and the ending never means a damn thing. The characters are all bland. Hey I like Benoit and Edge, but why cheer them? Really? Their's no face thats even strong enough to feature constantly in the main events, so nobody really cares about the storylines and you can easily miss 3 straight weeks of Raw and come back and find out that nothing has changed and probably see the same main event as last week. If your going to do all the backstage segments and promos, you need endearing personalities. Austin, Rock, Mankind are all the best faces cause they entertain and actually have depth to their personalities.

Catherine Zeta Jones and Micheal Douglas...well I guess I can understand that, Douglas is a charming dude. Carmen Electra and that Dave guy....well she dated Prince too so I can understand that. Jeff Garcia and possible future Raw Diva Carmella? Well...I guess their really is hope for everyone.
-
I think she knows she's already won, why else would she look like she doesn't even care? WWE probably told her to be bland and just look good.

The Rock said the most hilarious thing to Kane a few years ago. Kane and Rock were in the corporation and they were all in the ring. Rock- "And look what we have here, a big idiot, 7ft of dumb. You put his brain in a Parikey, and ZING, flies backwards,"

Anybody else get some incess type vibes from Jean Gray and her son? Man I can't wait till next weeks episode. I don't see how these two guys are going to be able to continue a buisness together with the guys wife being in love with the other one and the dude's son belonging to the other guy.

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) -- Dave Chappelle has signed a massive deal with Comedy Central that will return the comedian's hit series to the network for two more seasons. Sources familiar with the deal indicate it could be worth about $50 million, vaulting Chappelle, 30, into the rarefied realm of television's top earners. The new contract is believed to mark not only a steep increase for Chappelle as star, writer, co-executive producer and co-creator of "Chappelle's Show," but more significantly, reward him with a hefty chunk of the series' robust DVD sales. Increasing the pressure on Comedy to close a megadeal with Chappelle was interest from other programmers eager to tap his talents, including NBC Universal Television Group, according to sources, which ultimately deemed Chappelle too expensive. FX is said to have made an eight-figure offer to lure Chappelle to the network, but to no avail. The deal also has implications beyond Comedy for Chappelle within the network's parent company, Viacom, sources said. Another component sets up Chappelle with a multimillion-dollar deal at Paramount Pictures to star in an adaptation of the autobiography of Rick James, the funk veteran whom Chappelle has lampooned on "Chappelle's Show." He may also be tapped for a different film project. In addition, the contract is said to establish a development deal for Chappelle's production company, Pilot Boy Prods., with managing principal Mustafa Abuelhija. The pair already has a project under consideration at Comedy featuring "Chappelle's Show" contributor Paul Mooney. Also reaping the benefits of the deal was Chappelle's longtime partner, Neal Brennan, a director, executive producer, co-creator and writer of the series. While terms of the deal for Brennan were not disclosed, it is one of the richest deals in basic cable for a multihyphenate. "I knew we could continue at Comedy Central," Brennan said. "We weren't thinking of going anywhere else." Chappelle, who is vacationing in Paris, was not available for comment. "Chappelle's Show" has become an important series for Comedy, scoring a trio of Emmy nominations last month and ranking as the highest-rated cable program for the network's demographic sweet spot, men 18-34, who comprised much of the 3.1 million total viewers the series averaged in its second season. The ratings for "Chappelle's Show" not only held up well in reruns, but boosted other longtime Comedy staples including "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "South Park" -- not to mention the network's strong primetime performance in the first and second quarter of the year. "Life without 'Chappelle's Show' would not have been very bright as far as getting or exceeding those numbers again," said Lauren Corrao, senior VP original programming and head of development. "It means a great deal to growing our schedule. We're thrilled to have him back." More important, "Chappelle's Show" has become a juggernaut on DVD, selling 1.7 million units to date of a collection of first-season episodes -- the most successful television-related DVD of the year despite minimal marketing. Chappelle's original deal reaped barely a fraction of DVD revenues -- a source of frustration to the comedian as his second one-year deal with Comedy expired. The new deal cuts Chappelle not only a larger portion of DVD sales -- including retroactively to the first and second seasons -- but revenue from merchandising and events as well. As DVD becomes an increasingly lucrative revenue stream for networks and studios, the format is taking a place next to syndication as a crucial deal point for profit participants. In HBO's contentious renegotiation with "The Sopranos" star James Gandolfini last year, DVD also emerged as a thorny issue. Combining Chappelle's DVD take with his per-episode salary (estimated to be in the low-middle six figures) puts him in the league of Gandolfini and fellow Comedy executive producers Matt Stone and Trey Parker of "South Park." He is also slated to partake of a syndication sale of "Chappelle's Show," which may be a remote possibility given the series' raunchy content. Chappelle has already turned down an offer to host the upcoming sister network MTV's Video Music Awards but is said to be considering a second installment of the stand-up special he filmed for another Viacom property, Showtime, that debuts next month. The first of 26 new episodes of "Chappelle's Show" is expected to premiere in the first quarter of next year. Each 13-episode season will consist of 10 original episodes, plus two "best-of" episodes and another devoted to music performances. ................................................................................ ....................................... Well, he definetly deserved it. 25 mil per season plus a motion picture, the man has made it big.

Eugene going over HHH at Summerslam?
Shanghai Kid replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in The WWE Folder
Orton is NOWHERE near as over as the Rock was in the Summer of 98. Rock was getting the most heel heat of anybody in Summer 98, and by Summerslam all that heat turned into face heat. -
Clinton laid the Smackdown on Bush with his speech.

FX has become HBO as far as great shows and doing whatever they want. The Sheild, Nip Tuck, and Rescue Me are making FX the freaking channel to watch.
-
Yeah I don't see how Trish pitching an idea to WWE and them stealing it and making it their own makes her a politician. And who else is even worthy of having the title? That belt belongs to Trish, I think they want to keep her in the light until Christian comes back.
-
Obviously it sucked if you were there live, it might of brought in a few more viewers flipping channels on TV though.
-
4.0 rating for the segment on Raw....maybe it wasn't a bad idea?
-
'Watches as the ratings piss on the smarks idea that nobody wants to see the Diva search.
-
The 1rst season was good, and the 2nd season has been even better so far. The storyline is complex. Julia is married to Shawn, but in love with Christian. Shawn and Christian are best friends, yet Shawn has no idea that his son is really Christians son. The acting is top notch also.

I think this is the most underrated action move of the 90's. I find it superior to Die Hard 2 and 3, and better than 3 of the Lethal Weapon movies. The dialogue is wrapped with such an amount of sarcasm and wit, IMO it's the most quotable movie outside of Pulp Fiction. This is Bruce Willis's best character, and certainly Damon Wayans was looking like he could have a great career after this, although Bulletproof was also damn funny. They just don't make R rated action movies like this anymore.
-
Long Kiss Goodnight was also underrated, that was a hell of a movie. The firstime I saw last boyscout, I always thought Halle Berrys death scene was over the top. Now when I watch it I laugh my ass off because it's Halle Berry getting blown away by a machine gun.

This thread has gone to hell, why can't we just let it die?

Chappelle better win an Emmy. Julian Mcmahon from Nip Tuck needs to get an emmy also.

HBK in 95-96 was just way more over than Bret, Bret was the #2 face in those two years, so I have to seriously doubt he was their #1 draw. Austin in 97 was the hottest face the company had in a long time. His shirts probably started selling like crazy, I doubt Bret was drawing more by Summer-Fall 97.
-
I think she has a better body, but face wise, Carmella has her beat. http://www.extremefitness.com/showflat.php...es&Number=54276 Carmella would be right up there as hottest diva with torrie/stacy/trish.

Bret was WWE's biggest draw during his entire main event run from 92/3 - 97. I find it hard to believe that Bret was a bigger draw in 97 than Austin or a bigger draw than HBK in 95.
