The OAO RAW Thread for June 13th, 2005

That's how you know Cena is so over. Jericho was very popular, and he attacks Cena and by the end of the segment the WHOLE crowd is already chanting "Jericho Sucks".

What was the last time Rock was on TV?

I'm positive Rock will have another actual run in the WWE as a wrestler. I think wrestling is in his heart but making movies just makes much more sense right now as far as striking while the irons hot and getting financial security for the rest of his life. I think he'll either get burnt out on the Hollywood lifestyle eventually and miss wrestling, or basically dry up as an actor and use the WWE as a fallback plan. He's actually young enough to come back in 5 years and still not be pretty fresh. In actuallity the wrestling doesn't matter, as long as he can cut a good promo he has a role in the WWE for life.

    Stephanie Furious over Backstage Rib

Man this is some real soap opera type shizit, along with the Hardy/Lita/Edge thing all the fun stuff seems to be happening backstage this year instead of on-screen.

One of them is going to Smackdown for sure.

Why? If HHH is going to bury someone, shouldn't it be the wrestler with the less promise? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good point.

Haha Batistia sucks compared to Cena. Put his horrible promos and lack of crowd heat on Smackdown.

Agreed, Cena is pretty much the best bet at being the next mainstream superstar for Vince. Batista is nowhere near as over and still comes off as a transistion champ to HHH. I think they still want to do the Cena/Christian feud though. I don't think all that buildup should be for nothing. I think you can build up to HHH/Cena at Summerslam.

You don't remember when Jericho/Chyna were Co IC Champs? They made it work for a while.

Hassan is terrible in transistioning into moves.

This crowd is still hot, opening segment really set the tone.

I hope this isn't a tease where Cena gets traded back to Smackdown next week or something. His rhymes need to be live on Raw, it's his best chance at being the next big superstar.

Can you honestly believe the WWE just traded Smackdowns most over face to Raw?

Undertaker (3-disc), HHH (3-disc), Ladder Matches

That is a very weak match list for Taker. I was actually hoping to see more 'early' Taker stuff, and alot of those matches are stinkers. The extras don't seem like much at all either. I don't think Hulk Still Rules is the ultimate Hulk collection. It seems like they rushed it so they could get it out while Hulk was still wrestling. Down the line, I think they'll do a real 3 disc ultimate Hulk collection. I think theirs room for a Ultimate Flair volume 2. They didn't really touch on the 90's and even left some stuff out from the 80's.

    CPU Randomly Shutting Down

A little pop up appears with a 58 second countdown saying the system is shutting down and that its being initiated by NT/Authority and than the computer shuts down when the clock runs out. Anybody know what this is or how to fix it?

    Converting AVI/MPEG to DVD

Are their any good free programs for converting AVI or MPEG files into a DVD file format so that you can burn them to a DVD-R?

Undertaker (3-disc), HHH (3-disc), Ladder Matches

Yeah no diss to HHH or Taker, they deserve their sets, but where is the ultimate Rock and ultimate Austin collections at? I would think those two DVDs would be the gold mine. Both guys are pretty much retired, but their still fresh in the minds of fans. I have to think you could fill up a whole disc with classic Rock promos alone.

Carlito could be in my opinion...

I don't think Carlito is anywhere near Rock or even Jericho. His promos are funny, but it seems like the ultimate mid card gimmick. Remember, Rock got over just by being himself and talking like he would on the streets and coming up with his own stuff. Carlito I don't think will ever be that marketable.

    Whose got the more "Flair"

HBK is still putting on good matches, but I'll take Shawn Micheals from his prime over most other guys especially as far as being the most Flair like. I thought he perfected working as a face as far as perfectly timing his comebacks and getting the crowd into the match, and I thought he perfected being a heel in the ring also. Eddie Guerrerro definetly also, he has the total backage. but me Chris Jericho hasn't been great in a long time from an in ring and a promo/character standpoint. He'll NEVER match his heel work from 97-98 WCW as far as promos go, but even his matches and moveset have been very repetitive to me and I don't think he gets the crowd into his matches anymore at all.

    Shelton's Potential

What's in the long term for Shelton Benjamin? Right now he has no real gimmick and doesn't get much mic time, but he's putting on good matches every week and he's been the IC Champ for seemingly forever. Can he actually get over on his wrestling alone ala a Benoit or Bret Hart? What's his potential as a wrestler? Can he become one of the greatest WWE wrestlers of all time from a workrate perspective? I think their doing a good job of just having him win matches convincingly every week, but he needs either a manager or a big, big feud to get him over. Remember, when Rock was IC Champ he actually had memorable feuds with Ken Shamrock and HHH, that's what made his time as champ great.

    The Kickboxer Movies

The first Kickboxer is solid popcorn movie, along with Lion Heart and Bloodsport, this is Jean Claude at his best. Kickboxer 2, for some reason they can't get Jean Claude so they go with Sasha Mitchell. Odd choice indeed, as I haven't seen Sasha in any other movies, and the only thing we've seen him as is the half retarded Cody from Step by Step. I like the guy though, he makes David Sloan the most likeable Sloan of them all. Van Damn never really showed the proper amount of vulnerability that his character needed, with Cody does. Now one thing I hate about Kickboxer 2, is that they reveal that both Sloan brothers AND the girl from part 1 all were killed. Doesn't that just make the first Kickboxer seem worthless? Hey we won the battle, but ultimately we're all shot and killed so this is all for nothing. Tong Po, the baddest motherf***** in the land. He fights dirty, always using knees and elbows and he has no qualms about beating up the ref or gunning down his opponent after losing. Only problem with Tong Po is that in every movie he gets the holy hell beat out of him but he NEVER dies. You would think after killing his brothers, Cody would of just gone ahead and killed him. If you watch all 4 movies, it will leave you pissed to see that Tong Po never dies and we'll never see the resolution to that. Overall, it's a fun series. Kickboxer 3 kind of has a different story, but if you watch 1/2/4 as a trilogy, it's definetly a good way to kill time on a rainy day.

    Shawn Michaels Knee Injury

Well Shawn has said that he's not interested in carrying the World Title any time soon, so he's definetly an asset to the show since he really hasn't lost any credibility yet.
