    HHH's Motivation

I don't think he needs to leave, he just desperately needs a midcard feud that has nothing to do with the World Title. He needs to just be out of the main event for a few months. I don't even mind the guy being in the main event at Wrestlemania cause let's be honest, he is the best heel on Raw, but for months after Miami he just needs to go do something else. Looking back at HHH/Eugene, as bad as it may have been, it was sort of refreshing to see HHH doing something that didn't involve the title. Of course as soon as that ended he turned on Orton immediately and won the title back.

Gotta give Lucas credit though, he has made the ending to ROTJ much more thought provoking and powerful. Vader definetly has a deeper character now, I just don't think it was a story of a "a great person going bad and coming back good at the end". The decision he makes in ROTJ to throw the Emperor is no different than his decision in ROTS to save the Emperor from Mace, it's all consistent with the idea that the guy will do anything to protect his family which is priority #1, I still think priority #2 has always been for him to rule the universe and be the most powerful.

One thing I don't understand is the idea that Anakin went from 'good' to 'bad'. I don't really see it that way. Their was always a cloud of doubt about Anakin from the Jedi Counsil, and Anakin himself was fairly arrogant and cocky, he wanted to breakthrough and be the best jedi no matter what. I don't think they really established him as a great person, they established his potential to become the greatest Jedi, but his mindset always seemed to be "Sith'ish. Palpatine just took advantage and turned what easily could be described as a Sith who was trained by Jedis. Way I see it, and it's consistent with the series, his ultimate motivation is to become the most powerful person in the universe and run things. You saw hints of him wanting to be the most powerful in the PT, and it's definetly there in the OT. Did he redeem himself in ROTJ? Yes, but, it's pretty clear that if you mess with his family your going to get killed. No matter if he's on the good side of the dark side, it's now well established through 6 movies that when his family is taken away for him or threatened to be taken away, the rage inside comes out in him. The Emperor should of damn well known that torturing Luke infront of him was going to set him off. Some look at it as vindication and redemption that he killed the Emperor, I just think now you can see that it was perfectly plausible from his history that no matter who you are you can't screw with the guys family. Was it him turning against the darkside or was it him just doing what he's always done, try his damndest to protect the ones he loves?" He definetly fufilled the prophecy, not Luke.

The OAO RAW Thread - 5/16/05

Was that a shoot promo by Jericho? Cause in kayfabe that promo made NO sense. Your not supposed to acknowledge wrestling as a little job in your life, your supposed to be a CHARACTER where wrestling is your whole world.

....Oddly enough, I'd KILL to see Sting and Flair in the same ring one last time. I see Flair and Batista becoming friends, than Flair turning on Batistia as soon as HHH comes back. They do this 'face tease' thing with Flair every year, but he always ends up back heel. If he's going to be a face again, he just has to feud with HHH.

    Question about Simpsons

I have some money to blow, and I'm set on buying some Simpsons on DVD. I love the show now, but wasn't really into it back in the 90's. I already have season 2, which was decent, but nowhere near as fast paced or funny as the shows I'm used to seeing. So what season should I buy next? 3, 4, or 5? From what I've heard, season 4 is one of if not the best seasons of the show ever, and I mark for Conan O Brien. I'm leaning towards that, mainly cause I'm worried season 3 might be too much like season 2 (too sappy, not much satire, too Bart oriented). So taking into accout I'm looking for the most hilarious season possible and am not really worried about getting the seasons in order, is 4 the right choice?

I bought season 5, was a tough choice, but having Cape Fear on it put 5 over the top.

The OAO Nightmare on Elm Street thread

New Nightmare is very different from the rest of the series. Don't go in expecting the typical fun loving Freddy and you'll enjoy it. Alot of people hate it cause they were expecting a real Freddy movie, but Freddy really takes a backseat in this one and is much, much less comical.

    Should Flair

While Flair shouldn't get another title reign, he SHOULD have one more great face run. It doesn't have to have anything to do with a title, he just needs to feud with HHH.

BYTE THIS RECAP with Benjamin the new

It's actually not always a mark show, it depends on certain guests. They do like to throw mark questions out there but sometimes the guest will just break the kayfabe and say what they want.

    NBA Playoffs

Great series, my boy Arenas brought it home with the dagger in game 5 and than the huge block in game 6, but Bulls were scaring me there for a second in the 4th. Miami will probably win in 5, I think Washington will steal one.

    Christian is OVER

Um, I hope the WWE is starting to recognize that Christian is starting to get those Rock type chants when Rock was a midcard heel. As in, he called himself the people's champ until people started to love him and get into him. People have caught onto captain charisma, and the peeps are coming out in full force. Will they capitalize on it? Turning Christian face would be horrible, but keep having him as a borderline cocky heel and they could really build him into somethig.

    Best and Worst Wrestling Books

I've read alot of wrestling books lately, I still haven't read one better than Have a Nice Day. To me it's pretty much 'the' wrestling book right now, mainly because Foley is a much better writer than most of the other wrestlers. He makes things real personal and he tells stories in a hilarious way that you don't see from most writers. Roddy Pipers book was good, Bobby Heenan's book was good. Hulk Hogan's book was surprisingly good, Flairs book was good in the first half, a little bit more egotistical than the others and unneccesarry disses bring the book down. Foley is Good was ok, but all the PC stuff brought it down and it had nowhere near the energy the first book had. The worse wrestler related book I have read was the Rock's horrible autobiography. It's not a diss to the Rock, but his stories were one's that we had heard plenty of time and when he goes into character for mostly the 2nd half of the book it's horrible.

    Best and Worst Wrestling Books

Ironically I thought the worst part of Have a Nice day was the WWF stuff. It seemed like he didn't have the same passion for the stuff once he got into the WWF.

    Roddy Piper the worker

I only saw late 80's, early 90's Piper, but I thought he was pretty good at telling a story and using his facial expressions/physical movements to get his points across. Roddy vs Bret Hart is one of my favorite matches, really tells a good story. Regardless, Piper will be remembered for his promos.

    NBA Playoffs

You said one thing which I can agree with, that it's your opinion. I think we can agree to disagree on the topic. . I'm too hyped about Washingtons first playoff appearance in 8 years to be spending time arguing about it. I respect your arguments, your right theirs a counter point, just like theirs always a counter to that counter point, which means we could argue forever, but theirs no point. I think Arenas does pass and score at the same time, depending on whether he's playing scorer or facilitator on that play, and you don't. Thats a fundeamental difference of opinion that is to objective to prove. Getting back to the playoffs, My picks- Miami over New Jersey in 6 Detroit over Philly in 5 Indiana over Boston in 5 Washington over Chicago in 6 Spurs over Nuggets in 7 Suns over Memphis in 4 Sonics over Kings in 5 Dallas over Rockets in 7 It should be a great 1rst round.

Sorry man, I'm still not buying anything your saying. Arenas shoots low percentages? He actually has one of the higher adjusted fg% for any PG in the league, and his true shooting percentage is great for a guard. He made over 200 3s this season on a decent perfentage. He shoots too much? No he actually has high one of the highest point per shots in the leauge, he takes only 19 shots to get nearly 26 points a game. He does more with his shots than Mcgrady, Lebron, Ray Allen, Iverson. Your arguments will work for basic NBA fans but for a hardcore fan? Not a chance. One track mind, blah, that was last year. This season he usually doesn't look to score that much until the 4th quarter. Through 3 quarters he lets Jamison/Hughes do their thing, he doesn't dominate the ball like Marbury/Francis. Again the offense doesn't require a point guard, when Hughes brings the ball up the floor, Arenas is expected to score. He's reduced his turnovers big time, he definetly has a better balance between passing and scoring now. It's not about him being great, the fact is you are underrating the hell out of him pretty much by saying he's not even a top 30 player and listing border line All-Stars who just aren't as good as him. You can backtrack if you want, but the argument wasn't top 15 player, it was top 20. It was the STUPIDITY of thinking he isn't the best player on the Wiz. It was the stupidity of thinking guys like Redd/Maggettie are better than him. I'm sure if I wasn't here to shut it down you would of listed alot of more ridiculas examples of decent players who aren't better than Gil. He's a bigger gamebreaker than all those guys. Oh and as usual your wrong about Gil's injuries, he got injured 12 games into the season last year and the Wiz than lost a good 17 of their next 21 games which pretty much took them out of playoff contention. You should research it before you talk about what you don't know. Top 10 in the league in points, steals, 3-pointers, free throws, minutes, game winners, 2nd in the leauge in 4th quarter points, 2nd in the league in go ahead shots in the final minute, one of the higher roland ratings in the leauge, and led an injury depleted team to 45 wins. The only person who doesn't seem to know shit is you. Obviously analysists know more than you do. And OBVIOUSLY, Washington fans know more about the team than you do. It's not about you saying he should be out of the league, don't go to a ridiculas conclusion to try to cover yourself, I haven't exagerrated anything in my post. You said Hughes or Jamison is the best player in the series in an OBVIOUS attempt to still try to prove your point from last summer which has been proven wrong. You refuse to believe that the team is built around Arenas, he's a franchise player on a top 15 team in the league, he is a top 20 player statisitically and he has the wins and intangibles to back it up. You owe the man PROPS, saying he will lead the league in scoring does nothing, cause your still acting like he's a one dimensional player. He's a tripple double threat every night, and he's a leader on the court. I'm just settin ya straight on it, you can keep believing what you want, cause as I've said all along your opinion is the minority and living in la la land doesn't make you seem like a knowledable basketball poster.

I have patience, but he's seriously underrating Arenas. And he's so sure of himself as if he's right even though just about every analyist and any Wizards fan would disagree with him. I argued with him about Arenas like the last two years, he thought he was overrated when he signed the big contract, which he may have been, but he's matured and improved greatly and now even when Arenas is basically the MVP on an injury depleted 45 win team he STILL can't give the man props, going to ridiculas lengths to argue against him when theirs no argument there. It just sounds like he's against changing his mind about Arenas no matter what, he has that bad impression which is fine, I just hope he realizes that he's in the minority and that when Arenas is making the All-Star team every season I will be laughing. Gil willl prove himself again by leading the Wiz over the Bulls.

    NBA Playoffs

Theirs so many stupid things that any Washington fan would point out in your post. First of all, the coach Eddie Jordan himself has credited Gilbert Arenas maturing as the main reason for the turnaround. Also, other factors like Larry Hughes big time improvement, and Brendan Haywoods improvement, were just as big of a factor as Jamison coming aboard. If you don't know, Stackhouse sat out 60 games last season, so Jamison was coming in a situation where their was no starting SF last season. Jamison slowing the team down and getting into the offense? I can tell you haven't watched many Wizards games. Jamison is as much of a gunner as anybody, he takes bad outside shots all game. And his defense? Wow, that's horrible. Antawn Jamison is the worst defender on the Wiz. He's one of main reasons why the team defense is so bad. Arenas and Hughes have both been more important to the team this year Jamison. They have an over .500 record when Jamison DOES not play. The Princeton offense has no point guard or shooting guard. It's a 2 guard offense where both guards control the offense. Arenas isn't required to facilitate the offense, his role as given by Eddie Jordan is to score the ball. He takes pressure off his teammates by scoring, and at the same time he allows Hughes and Jamison to do their thing by taking the defensive focus off them. If he was at all selfish or shot too much he wouldn't have two teammates averaging 20ppg. He's the best offensive player on the team and if you knew anything about basketball you realize the coach wants the teams best player to get as many shots as possible. Showing his importance to the team, the Wiz continued to win EVEN AFTER Hughes got injured in which they had a .500 record for 20 games, and than when Jamison got injured and they had an above .500 recored without him. You pretty obviously have some personal dislike for Arenas, some kind of agenda against him. Micheal Redd? Ginobili? Magettie? WTF? Either your basketball knowledge is terrible or your reaching very far to prove your point. If he's not as good as those guys why is he going to make an All-NBA team and those guys aren't? Why did he make the All-Star team and some of those guys didn't? I really don't take anything you say seriously about basketball if you don't think he's been a top 20 player this season. Hell your already pushing stupidity by saying Arenas isn't the best player on the Wiz. Really, go read some articles or something, you sound like your living in two years ago. Do you realize in your head that Arenas is an All-NBA All-Star player? Does it click in your head that he's carried an injury depleted team to the playoffs? I'm just glad your opinion is the minority opinion, just about every analyist and hardcore fan would tell you different but keep believing what you want to believe. Top 15 is reaching? Arenas is top 10 in several statistical categories AND he's a leader, very clutch, and has matured greatly. It's not worth arguing if you have a one track mind. Your convinced Arenas is the same player he was two years ago, even though the coach has credited Arenas's maturing as the main reason for the teams turnaround. Face it, your a hater with no objectivity on this topic. I hope I've schooled you on this subject, because when it comes to the basketball I will look at your posts with the preconcieved notion that this is the guy who thought Arenas wasn't the best player on the Wizards, and thought he was merely a top 40 player. Look beyond the stats, Washingtons offense in the 4th quarter consists of isolating Arenas and telling him to go to work. And you know what? Washington is a freakish 17-6 in games decided by 3 points of less, they've won more close games than any team in the league. Without Arenas being able to score at will in the 4th quarter of games they would be in the lottery. I would take Arenas over Baron Davis until Baron proves he can be healthy for a full year. I also would take him over Marion, whose fine as a 3rd option but could never be the main guy on a playoff team like Gilbert is. Now would you like me to post articles where respected NBA analyists call Arenas a top 15 player, one of the best point guards in the league, a sleeper MVP candidate, and comments from Washingtons teammates saying that Arenas is a leader and the engine that drives the team? Would you like me to give you links to Wizards forums where the fans will tell you the team would be lost without Arenas? Let me know, because you seem to be under the impression that Arenas is a 15/5/5 roleplayer on a 40 win team. You laugh at the thought that he could be a top 20 player. He's put up over 27 points a game since January and Washington would of won 50 games this year without the injuries and Arenas is the known catalyst of the team. He has the intangibles of a winner, he's a leader, a competitor, and he's very unselfish. You can tell him watching him play he does whatever it takes to win on that particular night. If he was as inconsistent as you seem to think than Washington would be in big trouble. Anways, I hope your more educated on this topic now. If your not, I could care less because I said your of the minority opinion and I can find about 50 fans who can come and support my arguments. Have fun in la la land where an NBA GM would consider taking Magettie over Arenas or where one dimensional Micheal Redd is somehow better than Gilbert.

Ripper, I figured you weren't going to be convinced, let me just repeat what Slapnuts said in that the Wiz had massive injuries to their 3 best players last year which is why their record was bad. Jamison is decent, but he's not even in Arenas's atmosphere. Gilbert carried the team while Hughes and Jamison were both injured this year, his role on the Wiz is to score and that's what he does. The offense they run doesn't have a point guard, it involves him and Larry Hughes handling the ball equally. Bottom line is, your criminally wrong if you think Arenas isn't the best player on the Wiz. Just about any analyist or Wizards fan will tell you that, not like I'm making it up. Watch the playoffs, you'll see who the best player on the floor is in the Wiz/Chi series. Anyways, the series I'm looking forward to is Rockets vs Dallas, I think Rockets will pull the upset.

    NBA Playoffs

Ahahahah, whether you want to admit it or not, Gilbert Arenas has become a top 15 player. An All-Star, an All-NBA 3rd team player, the franchise player here in DC. Top 10 in the leauge in points, steals, 3-pointers, free throws, and minutes. 2nd in the league in 4th quarter points, 2nd in the league in go ahead shots in the final minute of a game. I know, you were bashing the signing when it happened. "Washington overpaid Arenas". Hell it might be true, they paid 10 mil a year for a 21 year old putting up 18/6/5. Unfortaunetly for that prediction, just a year later Arenas is putting up 25/5/5/2 and leading the Wizards back to the playoffs. Lol, Jamison and Hughes better? Why don't you ask any Wizards fan who the best player is? Why don't you ask the people at MCI who chant MVP after Arenas carries them to victory? Why don't you ask opposing coaches who have said 'Arenas is the player we can't figure out how to stop".

I think even without homecourt Washington will take Chicago in 6. Gilbert Arenas will own them. People keep talking about Ben Gordon, Arenas is pretty clearly the best player in this series and he will show it.
