Greatest Interview in Sports Entertainment History
Shanghai Kid replied to haVoc's topic in General Wrestling
This is easy, the Rock returning to Raw as a heel in 03. "You MOTHER CANUCKERS!" 'Oh Yayyyyyyy, he said TORONTO, that's where we live!" "Take all your boos and shove them up your maple syrup sucking candy asses"! -
Life is pretty underrated. I don't see how anybody can call it a bad movie. It's definetly Martin Lawrence's best performance, and it's the best drama/comedy Eddie has done.
-
Eddie Murphy did 'Delirious', for that he should always be respected. We're talking about arguably the greatest stand up routine of all time. Somebody in here actually said that 'Eddie could of been a comedy legend' What are you smoking? Eddie IS a comedy legend just based on his 80's work alone. Not only was he a beast in the 80's, his work heavily influenced guys like Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, and Dave Chappelle. I also think Eddie's career falling off is severly overrated. Shrek, Shrek 2, and Dreamgirls are all a huge success. Bowfinger and Life were both pretty damn good movies. His children movies are usually horrible, but they do make alot of money. He's had a great career overall. But anybody questioning Eddie, all you need to do is watch 48 hours, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America. Those 4 movies really put him on a level higher than most guys. He basically introduced the 'smartass' hero character.

The Rock : The best to ever grace a professional wrestling ring?
Shanghai Kid replied to a topic in General Wrestling
I have to agree. Rock is the best ever on the mic, and he definetly could get fans caught up in his matches. When I think of the matches with the most heat in the modern era I think Rock/Hogan, Rock/Austin. When I think of the best feuds of the modern era I think Rock/Austin, Rock/Mankind. Austin was a bigger draw, but Rock as a draw did pretty damn good in 2000 and I don't think Austin was quite as entertaining. He did have a few months where he got stale as a face, it was when he started overusing the Streudel bit probably around 2001. The biggest thing with the Rock is that he had 3 heel stints, and all 3 of them are among the best heel characters of all time. Nation Rock, Corporate Rock, and Hollywood Rock. Theirs so much memorable stuff, remember when Rock thew threw Austin off a bridge? Giving Farooqu a picture of himself? Doing his own commentary during his own matches? No Sing along with the Rock? The Concert in Sacramento? The stuff with Hurricane? I would honestly say Rock in 2003 for that 3 month period, that was the highest quality of promos/entertainment that a wrestler has ever done. Who has left the buisness when they were that good? That's the definition of leaving in your prime. -
If you could only watch one wrestler
Shanghai Kid replied to Australian Pride's topic in General Wrestling
2003 Rock is the most entertaining wrestler I have ever seen. His mannerisms and taunts vs Hogan, Austin, Goldberg are so over the top funny. -
According to Russo, at his highest point he was writing the entire Raw show on his home computer and than turning it into Vince who would make minor changes. Russo feels like he wasn't getting enough credit back than, he felt like WWF was keeping him a secret, and he had some beef with Jim Ross. We know the low points of Russo's tenure, and he completely bombed in WCW, but to me at least alot of midcarders seemed to be bigger stars than they actually were during 98-99 (D-Lo, Val Venis, Mark Henry). Then again, who really knows what Russo was really responsible for? He claims to have written alot of the Vince/Austin stuff in 98.
-
Outside of the obvious (Hogan, Austin, Rock, Foley), what past and current wrestlers do you think are currently millionares? I'm guessing Roddy Piper is still a millionare.

Shawn Michaels is the greatest wrestler in WWE History...
Shanghai Kid replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
What makes a great wrestler is completely up to the individual and what entertains them and what their looking for. Their are many people who will go to their grave with the opinion that Hulk Hogan is the greatest wrestler of all time. Their are many people who don't get into what Chris Benoit provides because it's not charismatic or entertaining enough for them. "Quality" is as subjective in wrestling as it is anything else. On a WWE board I don't think their should be an uprising of "why this is ridiculas" to the notion of Shawn Michaels being the best wrestler of all time. I'm pretty sure their is more than 1 person who thinks that, maybe cause they only watch WWE. -
I agree with the idea that Shawn drags Marlon down. Marlon actually was doing some nice work by himself until the Wayans Bros TV show was canceled. Since than almost everything he's done has been with Shawn. Don't be a Menace is a classic and Scary Movie was good, but White Chicks was straight garbage and Little Man looks like it also. However these movies will always have an audience and people will go see it which will inspire more White Chickesque productions. I just don't know what the purpose of Marlon doing Requiem. "Yes I can do drama but I'd rather settle for the lowest form of comedy."
-
Do some people actually watch the show and say "man if HHH uses his political power tonight im going to sleep pissed off". ?
-
This sucks......HHH is the most over guy in the company....how the HELL did we let this happen? Righhhhhht.

Bret Hart confirms he will not be at WrestleMania
Shanghai Kid replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
The bottom line here is that Shawn Micheals can burn in hell. A WWE Main Eventer should not be allowed to attend the Hall of Fame if he has beef with Bret Hart. Look Shawn, just stay away. Bret doesn't want you there. You lied to Bret Shawn, Bret NEVER did anything bad to you, but you kicked Bret and he never kicked back. We here on this board actually have personally watched your life through a Truman Show like microscope for the last 10 years, so we KNOW that Bret never did anything to you and that your the consumate asshole. I have no respect for a guy who without any reason at all, without any justification, has beef with a guy like Bret Hart. I think all of us here who have met Bret KNOW that the man hasn't done wrong, and since we have followed Shawns life seeing everything he does we know he gave Bret an eternal superkick right to the heart and Bret Hart kickers be damned! No but seriously, I'm guessing Shawn shows up and than walks out right before Bret's turn comes up. -
List each wrestlers best match, and than rank them as workers, talkers, and than as an overall wrestler.
-
I think people who grew up watching wrestling during the mid 90s will always hold Bret in high regards. From 92-97, the audience wasn't as huge but Bret was pretty much "the guy" to the audience who was watching. He was the guy in between the Hogan/Austin era, what I like to call the Bret/Shawn era since those two held it together. If you started watching wrestling 97 on, than your probably thinking of Bret as just the "screwjob" guy, but for the most part his legacy is as secure as anybody.
-
'Hulk Still Rules' did actually have some stuff you won't find anywhere else while missing some of Hogans biggest matches. It had alot of funny old interviews and segments and some obscure matches which is what some here seem to want. So if you get this new one which has every big Hogan match and have that old one, that really is the most complete Hogan set that could possibly be compiled.
-
It would be surreal just to see Bret and Shawn in the same room. I highly doubt they would be on a good enough terms to even have a conversation, hell I wouldn't expect Shawn to even show up.
-
Finally I can get Piper/Hart on DVD. I have the old Hogan DVD, and the main retrospective isn't bad but the extras of course were lacking so I'll pick up a new one. They can now include his HOF introduction and match with Shawn Micheals. I'd be more excited about a new Ric Flair DVD than the rest. They should REALLY change the Austin/Mcmahon DVD into just a definitive Austin DVD.
-
What really hurts about all of this is that Edge is a quality human being. I'm just distressed that this happened to him. In Chappelle voice- "Karma bitches!
-
Personally, I'm pretty indifferent about Orton and Edge, so if their both in the Main Event it would be the least intriguing Wrestlemania in history for me. I don't buy that Edge is over enough as a heel to headline Mania, ditto with Orton. Their are no "red hot" heels and their are not "red hot" faces, so WWE is stuck with a card thats going to end up looking like a B-PPV or a 4 hour version of Raw. Their is one money feud they could do, and thats have the Rock come in to feud with Cena. That would be intriguing, but I don't think Rock wants to wrestle. I think WWE dropped the ball by not having either Cena or HBK turn full fledged heel. I keep thinking their wasting Shawn Micheals by not trying at least one big heel run for him. If Ric Flair can go heel for a year or two why can't Shawn? Forget about Hogan, putting him in there with Cena is counter productive to the future. Cena gets boo'ed out of the building and Hogan demands to win clean with a leg drop.
-
Total dissapointment. Predictable yet makes no sense. As someone else said, pretty much on par with Vince being the Higher Power.
-
If it's simply Quentin I would be incredibly dissapointing. That would be too obvious. I'm hoping it's a huge shocker.
-
Mother Simpson is a real nice episode, gotta like the ending with Homer just looking at the stars. Season 7 also has one of the best Halloween specials. I love when Krusty sees Groundskeeper Willy rise up and says "don't dream about me anymore kid".

Well I read the book over the last two days. It's not as good as Foleys, but I put it up there maybe 3rd or 4th. Of course it includes alot of BS and sugercoating, but Shawn is also fairly honest about being an ass back in the day. Yes, Shawn's writing is as direct as the excerpt that was posted here (Earl, we're screwing Bret tonight). He actually addresses some of the stuff you see on these boards. Theirs alot of stuff on Bret Hart, but first here's some other stuff- - Modeled his style after Curt Henning and Ric Flair -Says he saw Kevin Nash in a Vin Vegas skit and got his number and Kevin was happy to jump ship. -Enjoyed his matches with Tito Santana and Ric Martel, but didn't feel like they were the kind of matches that elevated somebody. - Pat Patterson was his biggest supporter througout his career, believing he could be a star when no one else did. -Goes through the whole breakup with Jannety, but describes how nice it was to have the Rocker reunion this year. -Says his match with Mr. Perfect was a dissapointment and their styles were too similar and didn't mesh. -Was taking tons of painkillers and getting wasted all the time. - Admits to being unprofessional and hard to deal with as he rose to the top. - Says that at Wrestlemania 11 he specifically wanted Diesel to kick out of the superkick right at 3 but Vince forced Nash to kick out after 1 thinking it would make Nash look more powerful. Both Shawn and Nash thought the crowd would turn on Diesel after that thinking he's being pushed down their throat. Says that when the crowd started boo'ing Nash said "I knew it" and when Vince told Shawn he was turning him face Shawn was angry saying it was "cause of the kickout". - Prefers to work heel, because his 'pretty boy' character was not meant to be a face. -Shane Dougles came into WWE with alot of hype from the dirt sheets, but he just wasn't that talented. Says it would be stupid for him or Scott Hall to go out and have bad matches with Shane cause that would of made them look bad. Says the WWE used to try out new workers against X-Pac and after Shane's match X-Pac said "he's not going to make it". - Buries Sid as a worker saying one of his biggest career highlights is being able to have a good match with Sid. -On the Curtain call, says HHH asked Vince before if it was ok to do it, Vince gave them the ok but then turned on them when he felt pressure from other sources. -Says things got real bad when Hall and Nash left. Mentions the blackout match with Bulldog and him snapping at a fan at ringside. Says he was very unprofessional in the match with Vader at SS but emphasises that he was never asked to put over Vader. Says alot of the boys in the back hated him. -Says buisness was down when he was champ for a number of reasons, he took responsibity for it but said WCW was coming on strong and WWE was transistioning itself from old gimmicks to more realistic and raunchy stuff. -Says he got over as a face as a rebellious character, but when he became champ he became white meat face led by his elderly trainer as they searched for feel good moments. Was not surprised when the fans turned on him at Survivor Series. -Says the whole Undertaker taping his fists up before Wrestlemania 14 is a myth. Says he was pissed when Tyson covered him up in an Austin 3:16 shirt after the match and he thought he was just being buried out of the WWE at that point. Says he burst into the WM14 Press Conference afterwards and caused a big scene before leaving. -Says he insisted on Kurt Angle beating him at Mania 21 with the ankel lock. -Says his best program was with the Undertaker, also puts over Austin/Foley/Jericho. -Says beyond the BS he accomplished what he wanted to do in the ring and that his biggest accomplishment is some of his peers (Foley, Undertaker) telling him that the best matches of their career were with him. Now for Bret Hart/Montreal stuff- -Says Bret Hart and Niedhart pushed for the Rockers not to get the tag team titles. -Him and Bret were cool when Bret was the World Champ and he was the IC Champ cause they had a mutual respect and thought they were carrying the federation. Shawn thought it was wrong when Hogan came and took the title at WM9 and actively supported Bret during that. -Gives Bret 'credit' for coming up with the idea for the first ladder match, saying that Bret had done it with Dynamite Kid in Stampede. -Says after the Iron man match Bret left immediately and was one of the few guys not to congradulate him. Says Bret dissapeared for 8 months and buried Shawn in newspaper columns and was not supportive of his title reign. Says Bret would tell him he was sorry than keep slamming him behind his back. - Says Owen Hart was far more talented than Bret and could work more styles. Kind of uses the same argument for Bret as a wrestler that Bret used about Flair saying Bret was stuck in a routine and didn't have the flexibility to change it up. -Talked about Bret not talking to him for 3 weeks after the Sunny Days comment and than them getting in a fight where Bret pulled out his hair. - Says that Vince signed him to a nice contract and told him he was "the man" but then a few months later signed Bret to twice as much money. Shawn thought the only person in the company at the time who deserved to make more money than him was Undertaker. -They made sure to leave Patterson out of the screwjob cause he had a good relationship with Bret and wouldn't do it. Shawn describes the screwjob as a "mafia hit". -Before the match in Montreal he and Bret sat in a room and said Bret was trying to put the past to rest and saying he respected Shawn as a worker and that it wasn't that he couldn't lose to Shawn but that he didn't want to lose in Canada. Shawn says earlier Bret had specificially told Vince that he wouldn't lose to Shawn so he knew that was BS. Says that Bret was ignoring the buisness side of it and just looking at it from the perspective of "Bret Hart the hero". Says him and Bret had two different mentalities. Says that Shawn can admit that both he and Bret were unprofessional but Bret just wants to put the blame on everybody else and take none himself. Says before they went to the ring Bret asked him "can I trust you"? and Shawn said "yes". Shawn said that he wouldn't of lied like that today and that at that point he felt sorry for Bret cause he had no idea what was about to happen. and even told HHH "jeez I'm going to be more of a heel after this than ever". Said that Vince tried as hard as he could to put all the heat on himself. - Says that Bret told him to hump the Canadain flag to get heat from the crowd. -Bret came up with the Sharpshooter reversal spot, which was odd since people had been telling Bret that day not to let yourself get into a situation where they can screw you. -Says that DOA or the Harris Brothers came up to him and said "we got your back no matter what happens" and they basically followed him around that day. - Says Shane Mcmahon was in on it, and that it was funny that Bret took pride in knocking out Vince when it was clear that Vince took a dive. Says that Vince had told them in the meeting the day before he was going to let Bret "hit him" cause he owed it to him -Says the first person he sought out the next day was the Undertaker, and Taker told him that it was cool and that was the only guy Shawn cared to find out about. -Says he told his wife (Whisper of the Nitro girls) to wear a Shawn Micheals shirt to Nitro, and she did and happened to walk by Bret Hart who gave her a nasty scowl. If you got any questions let me know, I left out alot of stuff but the book has alot off interesting stuff.
-
Its stuff like this that makes me think its HBK talking about things he did himself and just putting Bret's name in instead of his own. But why do you think Bret Hart is just an innocent bystander who Shawn terrorized? I'm sure the whole feud wasn't just Shawn stomping on Bret and Bret valiantly keeping quiet and maintaining his integrity. I'm pretty sure it went both ways for them to hate each other that much. And I've heard the story before about Bret trashing Shawn in columns and not supporting him while he was champ.

Let say you buy something for a 100 dollars, and than the price for it goes up to 150. If you return it, will you be getting 100 or 150 back?
