OAO Game Ratings/Content Controversy Thread
El Psycho Diablo replied to AndrewTS's topic in Video Games
This would explain quite a bit. I'm fairly sure Jack Thompson isn't right in the head. Forwards an email to me about Killer 7. I email him back. He threatens legal action for harrasment. Wtf? Edit: Yes I checked the headers. Same IP, it was him both times and not a spoof. Interesting. -
EA's been slacking off for years. And some of these reviews, in particular, are given by sites who've given Madden great scores in the past. The Xbox version still looks like just a PS2 port, though. Pathetic.

National Lampoon rips on Futurama
El Psycho Diablo replied to Gary Floyd's topic in Television & Film
Eva was..okay, but nothing I'd hype as "the greatest anime ever". The first half was a cliche "monster of the week" show with a few cool moments every so often, and the last half felt like somebody started reading a psychology textbook. Plus, all the Christianity references were just thrown in "because they looked cool". No joke, there's an interview around somewhere that says precisely that. Parts of the show (the ending, especially) bear a resemblance to Yoshiyuki Tomino's (Known for the original Gundam, among others) Legendary Giant Ideon. Not saying it's bad, but it's just made out to be this great earth-shaking show, and for me, it isn't. As for the topic..what gives the guys who made Van Wilder room to say anything? Futurama's far better than any of their recent efforts.. -
I'm biased, by System Shock 2 is well worth it. I can't believe it's so far down the list, though.
-
Y'know, you don't have to sit there and watch a game if it's that boring.

I'm getting both, a 360 & PS3 but no Madden. No ESPN means I'm not buying any football game for a while..

GTA San Andreas forced to change game rating
El Psycho Diablo replied to NoCalMike's topic in Video Games
Except it's not acessable normally in any way. You've got to download the mod/save for it.. -
But I'm sure none of their programming gets tons of negative mail/email over it.... well til Smackdown came along... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At least it means people are watching it..which is more than they can usually say.
-
It was a stupid angle in the first place, but UPN isn't exactly known for it's good taste in programming..
-
Really, Nintendo screwed Nintendo. They've been keeping the hardware so under wraps, there aren't any Revolution dev kits yet, but there are PS3/Xbox360 ones. You may see a port later on, though..

GTA San Andreas forced to change game rating
El Psycho Diablo replied to NoCalMike's topic in Video Games
In order to get the mod, a parent's got to be stupid enough to buy it in the first place. It isn't Rockstar's fault some people are too stupid to read the damned box.. -
Project Gotham 2 was great, so I can't see PG3 being any less.
-
Ninja Gaiden really isn't that hard, at least on Normal. The Hurricane Packs really ramp it up, though.

Thought I'd better clarify. The article pasted a page back was complaining about MS' lack of a high-capacity drive in their console. Totally different from including HD support for games. The larger drive is nice, but useless at this point. Many games don't use the 4.3 GB a regular DVD has, much less the 50 to 100 GB a Blu-Ray disc is supposedly capable of. Until a significant ammount of programming is filmed and released specifically for HDTV users, a BD-ROM is gonna be a nice, but useless peice of hardware. -

To be honest, the only use of Blu-Ray or HD-DVD is to have enough space for HD programming, which won't fit on a regular DVD. You won't be seeing a mass migration of titles like you did from VHS to DVD. A next-gen DVD format shouldn't matter crap to your average gamer at this point, and an early adapter will likely buy a (better) stand-alone player, anyway. -

Downloading Atelier Iris now. I'll post my thoughts on it once I finish. System Shock 2 is one of the best PC games ever, personally. It's not just a straight up FPS. -

The best Gundam game released here would likely be Gundam vs Zeta Gundam. It's a majorly upgraded version of Federation vs Zeon, with a whole load of stuff thrown in. As far as imports go, the Gundam: One Year War game was great, and "Another Century's Episode" is likely the best Gundam/mecha shooter ever. Though, it's got Zeta, Char's Counter Attack, and Wing, it's also got a lot of other non-Gundam shows. -
Except most of your average people won't be interested in a Blu-Ray player just yet, Sony got lucky the first time, because the PS2 was released in the middle of the first major home video format change.

I, for one, welcome our new corporate overlords..*cough* Every time I think things can't get any stupider, they do. -
I didn't play (much) of any RE games before 4. I think the terrible camera and control scheme had something to do with it.

Batman Video Games; Begins discussion, etc here
El Psycho Diablo replied to AndrewTS's topic in Video Games
Spiderman 2 wasn't that good. Considering there were the same damned things people wanted you to do, over, and over.. -
The Ultimate Blue is my favorite.

So, it took them this long to rip off Fire Pro/KOC's stamina bit? I wonder if they'll fix the finisher bit. With a good charisma, you could get an insane number of finishers in no time..
-
While some parts did get cut, the second game is just as good as the first. The influence system with the characters is great, and there's a bit more freedom in making character choices this time. The gameplay also feels a lot more refined, IMO. You'll want to get the PC version, though, because there's a group of moddders restoring the "lost" content, because it was left in the game files.

The OAO RAW Thread for June 13th, 2005
El Psycho Diablo replied to Prophet of Mike Zagurski's topic in The WWE Folder
The reason that "ECW nostalgia trip" did so well is because a) ECW never got utterly humilliated like WCW did, and b) it was different from the sanitized, cookie cutter stuff the WWE puts out from week to week.
