First image from Mortal Kombat Deception!

Hey, now..MKA is a great movie. If you're making fun of it the entire time, at least. o_o Favorite part: Near the end, when they've got everyone "matched up" and ready to fight..they kind of stand there giving each other death glares. Not Shao Kahn, though..he gives Liu Kang this "What's up?" look, and tilts his head back. Strange, but funny as hell considering how serious everyone else looks..

The OAO Showdown: Legends of Wrestling Thread!

From what I've heard of the Xbox version, the graphics look like crap..and..surprise..no custom soundtracks. Meaning you can't change the entrance music for your wrestlers to something off the HD. Again. Considering the feature was in LOW1..but was omitted in 2, and apparently 3.. Ugh. This is why I don't like these multiplatform games..as they're usually developed for the lowest system (Translation: PS2), and ported. I'm not touching it.

The OAO Showdown: Legends of Wrestling Thread!

Here's the question: Did they put custom entrance music back in for the Xbox version? The first game had it, but the fucking bastards took it out for the second. (Sure, you can listen to custom soundtracks during matches, but it's not the same thing..)

TV shows that lost their "place in history"

G-Saviour isn't canon, I believe. Really, it dosen't have that many sequels. There are two "direct" sequels in Zeta and Double Zeta Gundam, which happen shortly after the first. Victory Gundam's a ways away from the last series, so it's more of a continuation. For anime, it's got a lot of sequels..but when you put it in American terms (Seasons, with the AU series being spin-offs) it really isn't. o_o

Actually, the last Gundam "sequel" in the main timeline was 1993's Victory Gundam. Since then, it's all been self-contained Alternate Universe shows.

Yeah, it'll probably win the GameFAQs poll...

I can't honestly say any RPG I've played was "the best ever", even the ones I've really liked. Saying that something's the "best RPG ever" shows a lack of intelligence, because even fans of a series should admit a game's shortcomings. Nothing is perfect. There are a lot of games out there that are better than FFVII, yet will never be as acclaimed. That's where a lot of this hate and bitterness comes from - that a mediocre game has so much praise. The only innovation VII really had* was in terms of graphics , and shiny things catch people's interest more than bland ones. It's created an intolerance in an entire mass of people for any RPG that isn't 3D, or not "pretty" enough...or isn't branded with a Squaresoft logo on it. I won't even start on the story, or the cardboard characters. The one thing the game does have that keeps it so highly acclained is it's mass of fans. That's how it's gotten to be seen as the "best game ever". It's sort of a rolling snowball of fanboy hype. So many people have been hyping the game for years that it's spiraled out of control. *Well, unless you consider the massive marketing blitz for the game as an innovation.

What Do You Do When Your Franchise Series...

Another reason I hate EA? They hold the rights to System Shock 2..a game better than anything they themselves could ever produce.

What Do You Do When Your Franchise Series...

..and to believe people bitch about Microsoft? EA's a vampire, in terms of the gaming industry. They buy up more studios than any other company combined, and blatantly ignore large portions of their userbase, (Dreamcast fans, now Xbox fans*) in addition to releasing uncompleted software (C&C Generals, for starters). *Especially when it comes to Live, and actually UPGRADING games to look like Xbox games, instead of PS2 ports..which most are. I've refused to buy EA products for years, and this dosen't make me change my mind. *dons eyepatch, screws on pegleg, and wanders off*

I like how Massachusetts only became a "smarky area" after Worchester booed Goldberg's debut at Backlash. Hard feelings? Hard feelings? Hardly. It can't be, as I haven't really cared for any of the product (save for Eddy winning the title), in about a year and a half now. On Golberg: He's nowhere near great, but they pretty much blew everything they did with him. My bitterness has to deal with the mass stupidity that ran through here after his debut, with every two words being "Fuck Golberg". It was almost like the place had dropped IQ levels by about fifty points..but that's for another time. It's just sad that one of the only anti "Benoit is bland" defenses is -always- the standing ovation. Referencing Kahran's post up there about home areas..it's just nothing suprising, or nothing special when a wrestler gets a reaction in "their" region. The northeast/Canada has always seemed to be one of the "smarkier" areas the WWE runs through, and that's why I said it. I don't care for Benoit, but I won't go around slamming him every chance I get. Why did he get the belt? In my view, there's none of this "He deserved it" stuff, but in their (WWE's) reasoning, he was the guy to push at the time. He's been booked well, if you compare who he's been booked against. Anyone who's a legitimate threat to Trips and HBK at the same time will get respect from the crowd. It's not that hard to realize, especially when those two guys have ben at the top of the promotion for a long while now. Benoit is the ONLY guy that's been made to look somewhat like a threat to Michaels and Hunter in forever. That's why they've been feuding so long, because credible guys either couldn't wrestle, or had been buried long since. (Particularly knowing that he's gonna lose the belt sometime. Then this sentiment that "Raw's so great" will magically turn around overnight. )

I really wish people would stop bringing up the standing ovation like it was a regularly occuring thing. It was what, once? In one of the smarkier areas of the country, at that?
  11. Kill Bill, vol 1. Really fun movie, but not the greatest thing since sliced bread, like some people seem to think. *cough*

    Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Translation: We'll rip off as much as possible, again. Well...if it's working why change it? Whether they took something from something else in previous games or not...did they or did they not still become favorites amongst many? So you don't really want to change a good thing. I suppose. But it's not hard to sell lots of games, and become popular to hordes of mindless drones by putting hookers, the ability to steal, and shoot people at will in a game. It's not really an achievement at all. Especially with Rockstar, and it's "What crime movie can we blatantly steal this time?" attitude.

    The E3 2004 Thread

It won't, but I bet you'll hear the same words in every review "revolutionary" and "open-ended" (*cough* My ass. Morrowind is open-ended, GTA's just not completely linear..)

My only question is..what movies will Rockstar rip off -this- time? Sooner or later they'll have to make something fairly original..

..there's gonna be a Super Robot Wars game? Damnit, now I'll have to get one. The genre would be turn-based strategy, btw.

    The E3 2004 Thread

Looking at this list, I've noticed something. I hate most multiplatform games. Call of Duty is great on the PC, but if the Xbox version's scaled down to run on the PS2 as well, it's going to suck. To me, the Spinter Cell method of doing things (Superior verison first, inferior version later) is better than the EA-style method of doing things. (dumbed down to fit on all consoles with as little work as possible)

    I don't like anime.

I've seen HK discs reccomended here, but I'd avoid 'em at all costs. The discs themselves can range anywhere from decent to terrible, and that's not even starting with the subs.. I'd download, myself..but you can get discs reasonably at Deep Discount DVD.

    WWE New Style

I don't think the style's that much better, it's just everything being viewed in a different light, due to the IWC Golden Boy holding the title right now. Wait 'til he loses it, and the bitching about the style will resume.

    I don't like anime.

If dated animation isn't a problem for you, Zeta Gundam (coming later this year) is one of the best (if not -the- best) UC Gundam series I've seen yet.

For everyone who's cheap, has broadband, or both..BitTorrent is your friend. BoxTorrents only carries complete series (as well as movies, OVA's, and the like), which is great if you don't like having to hunt down individual episodes. They're kind of uptight about people who just leech, so you may want to watch out for that. Anime Suki has a lot of stuff, but it's all unlicensed. Pretty good if you're looking for very new series. Suprnova usually has a bunch to download, but it's almost always individual episodes. (I don't like their navigation system, and the torrents aren't organized very well.)

NJPW to WWE: JUST BRING IT!

"At that point"? *eyes Smackdown currently, and Raw just a few short months ago* I suppose Angle's nearly dying, and the stupid Taker stuff will produce great, technical matches, hm? The only reason they're pushing the "in-ring talent" is because they're super desperate for stars at this point, and guys like Benoit and Guerrero have been loyal to the company since joining it. (Translation: Big enough to fill the gap, not big enough to hold the company up for money) They've lost Brock, Austin, and Goldberg already. Trips is going out to film a movie, and Angle may or may not wrestle again. Foley's unreliable, and who knows how long Michaels, Flair, Taker, and Booker T will still be wrestling? They've got no choice but to push these guys, until the next bunch of main eventers (Ortton, Cena, etc) are ready. Besides, look at the whole Eugene angle. They still try for shock segments, even if most of them don't work. (The worst of the most recent ones were the necrophilia, and Billy/Chuck didn't do what they intended, either.)

NJPW to WWE: JUST BRING IT!

As crazy as Inoki is, he never had his top star* humping a "corpse" on TV. That may be bad, but WWE's done a whole load of bonehaded things themselves in the last few years, too. In fact, WWE's -worse-, if just for the fact they willingly cost themselves sponsors by doing stupid stunts, and screwing up the biggest angle in wrestling history. Not to mention their number one guy (who had stated multiple times he'd hated WCW), was leading the "invasion", when he was WWF/E to the core. (shrugs) If NJPW's bush league for calling out the WWE, then what the hell is WWE? *as they see it, not me.

    I don't like anime.

Thankfully, not everything in anime resembles Dragonball Z. I'm not too sure about horror or occult type stuff, but the site and boards at animeondvd.com are likely the best place to look, or ask for reccomendations. It shouldn't be hard to find something you like..anime has all sorts of stories, just the most popular ones aren't necessarily the best.
