LOTR: The Two Towers Special Extended DVD
El Psycho Diablo replied to The Dames's topic in Television & Film
Except they stated far in advance that there would be two different editions. The movies aren't the same, none of the extras are the same. This isn't really "double dipping" because they didn't just slap the movie on a new disc with one or two new extras. -
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Special Extended Ed.)

Hate to say I told you so...
El Psycho Diablo replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
After all the buildup put into Brock last year, they're making him Chris Jericho V2 this year. Yay. -
That, and Zeta's coming out next year over here on DVD. (with Seed and F91, too)
-
I know, I know. >_- Not knocking on UC Gundam or anything, but a series that's been over for years (Zeta) gets a 3D Game..but not Seed? Bleh. Stupid Bandai. (At least Aile Strike is going to be in Encounters In Space..)

It's more "GTA: Scarface" than anything.
-
..and Rockstar shilling..but yeah, pretty much.
-
..and after all the push Brock has gotten, I'm supposed to believe that Bob Holly can realistically beat Lesnar? Please.

I'm looking for Giant Gram 2k, and Toukon Retsuden 4..if anyone around here has or knows where the ISO is.

BIG Return of the King News aka Curry not happy
El Psycho Diablo replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
Except there lies the problem. In Sauron's case, him showing up would be almost forcing the characters to commit suicide. There's no other way to kill him than the way they wind up actually doing it.. If nobody but Gandalf could stand against the Balrog, what chance would they have against the Dark Lord himself? -
It's also on BitTorrent over at suprnova.org.

OK, who's the best on the mic of all time
El Psycho Diablo replied to Toxxic's topic in The WWE Folder
Whatever greatness Austin has is nullified by the entire "What?" chants he inspired. I'd have to say Jericho's up there, but not the best. -
Anyone else have this problem with Raw 2?
El Psycho Diablo replied to iliketurtles's topic in Video Games
The game's just..odd. I appreciate the thought of making my own storyline, but the excecution is crap. (Warning, rant ahead) I like Raw's customizability (pyro, entrance lighting) and the music rip, but the gameplay is bleh. Wrestlemania's gameplay is the best of the three (IMO) except for the clipping and such. The entrances are the best of the three, hands down..with the complete ability to make the entrance you want pose-wise and camera control. Smackdown's better than Raw, but the entrances suck. The movelist is the best out of the three, as is the sheer number of CAW options. Why can't they take the best out of all three and combine them? I could very well see a game using SD's Create-An-Animation and Wrestlemania's entrance style to make basically anything one could want. (add downloadable content and play over Xbox Live, and you've got a winner..) -
Trips was a success only through the blood of Mick Foley. Hell, anyone could've gotten over with the sheer ammount of TV time he had, and feuds with Rocky, Austin, and Foley. What an accomplishment..being a success when you've got the three most charismatic guys in the company to cary you.

I'd almost forgotten that, too. When the owner is a poster-boy for sterioids, what chance does a small guy like Spanky or London have? They don't even care about talent. All you've gotta do is be big and tall, or if you're short, built like Trips or Lesnar (or Benoit..). Then why the hell did Spanky and London sign a contract then? They should know damn well they weren't going to get shit with McMahon's Hoss Utopia. As people will quote "It's their dream. They don't care." What pisses me off is that anyone with the proper funds and a decent eye for talent could drive them out of business..but nobody's been able to. Every time they've had competition creep up, it's been blind fucking luck that's saved them. Vince isn't a great buisnessman..hell, he's not even a great wrestling promoter. He's a talentless hack that's had everything handed to him. Look at what happens when nobody will tell him "no". We get the current product. Hulk Hogan? Steve Austin? They were handed to Vince. Once they got moving strong, they simply got the chance to run with the ball. Yes, you could say that it was Vince's feud with Austin that "made" him, but it wasn't. Rocky? He was the only one really made in the WWF/E, but it was more of an accident than anything else. He didn't get over as they'd wanted (A bland, Hulk Hogan clone-babyface) but through his own charisma and mannerisms. You don't even have to have talent to be a major player in that company. Look at Triple H. He's reportedly a hard worker..but is it really that hard when you've had Mick Foley, Steve Austin, and The Rock feuding with you for the entire time you were big? Trips is the ONLY thing Vince's ever created, and he's a failure without a sacrfice of talented guys waiting in line to carry him from feud to feud. Vince's own senility..or prejudices keep him from pushing the people the fans (and not just the IWC) want, but shoving the people that fit "his vision". People went nuts when Jericho looked like he was about to break big, but what did we get? Triple H. People were chanting rabidly for Van Dam, but what did we get? Brock Lesnar. Eddy Guerrero's hot, but who gets the nod instead? Big Show, Nathan Jones, and company. If the company ever gets hot again, it won't be because Vince made it so, but because someone finally was handed to him to become the next Rock, Austin, or Hogan.

Hell, look at the guy the entire Raw brand is based around..arguably their top star. Triple H only really got his "god push" after he came back roided out. Before that, he was a fairly small guy. He gets by on look alone. Granted, you can't keep a look like that without working out, but there's no denying he's taken steroids. Both Chris Benoit and Eddy Guerrero, while great workers already, came into the WWE obviously bigger than they were in WCW. Why? Because the WWE has shown they won't push a guy unless he's got a particular "look". Preferably large, tall, and generic. The smaller guys get dumped down to the bottom of the card, or just used as jobbers to put the so-called "chosen" over. It's more a of a "have-to" than a "choose to" with steroids and the WWE. It means the difference between the ammount of push and money one gets, and when faced with that, these guys will hit the steroids quicker than anything. Look at the current crop of guys they're choosing to push, and tell me I'm wrong.

I loved that game. Too bad EA's slidden into mediocrity since then. My brother and I would never actually win the game normally..just force the other team to forfeit because we'd kill all of their players. My favorite: The Demon Net!
-
Hell, look at all of Team Lesnar. That's Vince's ideal. 1980 all over again.
-
It's easy to say "slow down the style", but think how many of the smaller (read: cruisers) that would just kill? (Not that they're getting a fair shot right now, anyway..but still) Just who is Austin to say "The guys will sell the moves more" when he's the guy who's been able to play Superman since 97/98ish? I'm sure him taking out the entire Alliance in one night was just a case of him trying to get those guys over, too. His whole "put the buisness back where it belongs" crap is just talk, considering he gets to beat up guys every Monday, and he's not even a wrestler anymore. If anything he should be getting HIS ass kicked around now.

That'd work too. It's more realistic than an actual off-season. Sure, they know they're going to take some hits..but this way they'd still get the advertising money, which is the most important thing. Overexposure is one of their biggest problems, but a complete shutdown for two months wouldn't work.
-
Since the house show buisness is doing terrible right now anyway, why not reduce the schedule? Make fewer house shows, so you may get more attendance on the ones that -do- come into town..because it may be a while before the next one hits. I don't think an "off-season" is a good idea, but a month or two in the slow period of the year (Sept/Oct) with reduced shows may help.

Whys that? I have found that EA does the best with any type of game. It's a long, long story. I'll just say they've got a history of half-assing everything that's not a PS2 game. That, and the fact this game supports online for PS2, but not Xbox. *shrugs* I own both, but I'm not buying a game on an inferior console. when I can get it for the more powerful one. ..and since the version I want isn't what it could be, I won't buy it. Then again, I haven't bought an EA game for years (since they snubbed the DC, actually) so it's nothing unusual.

<IWC> It's gotta be Benoit, damnit! </IWC> IMO, at the rate it's at..it'll be Angle again, or knowing the WWE..Trips or Vince.

Smarks EZBoard alumni roll call
El Psycho Diablo replied to The Czech Republic's topic in No Holds Barred
I tend not to make much noise, but I'm still here.
