I can sort of sympathize with the Smilebit one, but if your games don't sell, you're just fucked. See also: Capcom and Clover Studios.
-
Yes, it is. Especially since the patch. Damned AI loves naval invasions.
-
Holy crap. Three old-school mecha remakes in one season? Nice!
-
Yep. I noticed the Haruhi site link on animeondvd's forums about a week ago, and remembered what was going on when I saw the threads on 4chan. The stuff they were slipping into the source code was great, too.
-
Haruhi's licensed? Holy crap. Kadokawa Pictures USA and Bandai Entertainment.

Suzaku (Geass) is beginning to grate on my nerves, because I've gotten to dislike the typical "goody two-shoes idealist wonder-pilot" bit, especially after Seed Destiny. There's also a lot of fear they're going to pull a Kira Yamato with him. I don't really think the fears have much foundation, but, I'd rather the spotlight stay on Lelouch. The female character designs are better than the mens, IMO.. Why? They were refined by Takahiro Kimura (King of Braves Gaogaigar, Godannar, for two of his more famous designs) who's just awesome. Avatar related.

The Tales games (at least Symphonia and Abyss) have a feature of this sort. On a replay game, you get a particular number of points depending on how well you did during battles on the clear save. This lets you get all of the abilities you had from the last game, for example. Or make the game easier/harder, and a number of other things.

Examples of Milking a Franchise After It's Lifespan Ended
El Psycho Diablo replied to a topic in Video Games
Capcom anything? They're about the worst for beating the dead franchise horse I can think of. As far as Uncharted Waters, there have been a few (up to the sixth installment, IIRC) since the release back on the SNES. Koei just hasn't translated any of them. Same with Nobunaga's Ambition, another Koei game I liked. -
Pizza Hut Rebellion, heh. 4channer? Code Geass isn't like Seed Destiny at all, unless it suddenly starts to suck, then tanks massively. At this point, though, it's very good. I also like the fact it avoids some of the more typical mecha show cliches, and Lelouch as a protagonist is just great.

It depends. TSR is more action oriented than comedy oriented. So if you liked the serious parts of FMP better, you'll like it. If you liked the comedic parts, or Fumoffu better, you may not. I'm not watching much this season, myself. Just Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, which is getting more awesome each week.

The One and Only "Casino Royale" Thread

It's not dead-on, of course..but it's surprisingly close to the novel. -
The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

The bitching over the 8.8 makes me snicker. Like that's such a bad score for a game that's been held back so long and ported to a new system. -

It seemed fairly useless the first few times I've tried it, so I stopped using it. I've only really done campaign mode so far, but I play defensively with the Tau. Fire Warriors have an insane range, even better if you take the Kauyon path and upgrade. You don't get the Hammerhead Gunship, but you do get the expanded Kroot roster, and they're better, anyway. I always take the upgrade that gives your commander Infiltration, and have him sit out a ways from my Fire Warriors and Missile Boats, so they pick off anything that gets even close. I just gradually advance with my main group, letting the main enemy forces come at me. The Honor Guard Fire Warriors you get in campaign are even better. On some levels, they can shoot over half the map. It's just insane. -

Yup. Unless you want to play the Space Marines, Chaos, Orks, Eldar, or Imperial Guard in MP. The Tau are my favorite of the two new races, due to the freedom of play styles. -

I don't particularly care for Double Agent. It's by the same team that did Pandora Tommorow, so it's back to that same trial-and-error bullshit. Makes me glad that Ubisoft Montreal (SC, and Chaos Theory) is doing the next game. -

Well, this is interesting. So. In the latest CGW podcast, they received retail boxed copies of BF 2142. When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads. -
I have to disagree with you there. While I miss some of the lower car classes, PGR3 is far and away better than the first two.
-
IIRC, PS1/PS2 games will not be region free. And I believe PS3 games (like Wii and 360 games) leave the region lock to the publishers.
-
More HD space is a good thing, actually. With my 360, I'm down to about 9 gig or so last time I checked, because they're releasing demos and videos over Live at a good clip. Sony's supposedly charging for demos, so it doesn't apply there.
-
MS is still making the core systems, just in far fewer numbers than the good one.
-
Where the hell are they doing their market research? Most of the "price feedback" was like "$600? Fuck that!"
-
Either way, it's going to bite them in the ass. At the full price, fans may not buy it. They still lose money per console. At the price cut, fans stand a better chance of buying it, but they lose even more per console. I can't see it reaching the US.
-
Yeah, in my rush to get the word out I didn't pay attention to the "Japan only so far" part of the article. That's going to be interesting if Sony doesn't drop the price here to match the price drop in Japan. I would LOVE to hear the justification if that happens. Because they consider Japan their home market, and they're only getting 100,000 of them. The US is getting something like 400,000, so Sony feels like they have to make it up to the Japanese.
-
The price cut? Only in Japan.

That was just a quote from another board, but..yeah. I picked up 1 a long time ago for $10, sat through what seemed like an eternity of cutscenes for 15 mintues of gameplay, and it's sat in the shelf ever since. That's the same kind of nonsense that MGS pulls, and why I don't like that series, either.
