    Fantasy NBA League?

Hm.... Good point on both parts. I think I'll just look on increasing our stats for this season. Keep those but increase upon them. Eight players is an idea... Although, that would mean that eight players playing, and two benches... But I can go with that. Although it'd be: 3G, 2F, 1C, 2U.

    Fantasy NBA League?

I still don't understand that logic. Stars are valuable no matter what stats you use. A system that brings the value of stars down isn't very good. A player's real value should roughly match their fantasy value. I'm not looking for a system to bring star power down. I'm trying to find a system that bring role player value up.

The One And Only Final Fantasy: Crystal Cronicles

...I just said the game was good. Multi-player is simply fun. It is probably the best social experience you'll have playing a video game in a long time. You see, GBAs serve as not only your controllers, but also as your menus. So everything is on the fly. Need to change a command so that you have a Cure Materia (yes, Materia is back) in one of the slots, you have to hurry you ass off because a monster might glomp you at any moment. Just pray that your buddies have your back. You can pause the game at any point in multi-player, but it just stops the game from happening. When in multi-player one person must carry the Crystal Chalice (in single player, Mog the Moogle will be more than happy to carry it for you, and bitch about how you should carry it when he's had enough), as it gives you a sphere of protection from Miasma (the deadly poison that covers the lands). Step out of this protection and you begin to lose your health rapidly. It's a good way to keep players together but at the same time, I get the feeling that they should've went the Secret of Mana route. Oh well. Each GBA will be given a certain part of a map. One will actually have the map to get around, the next will be able to scope out the nearby baddies, another will be for treasure chests, and I actually forget the last one (I don't think I ever go it). So you need to relay what is happening vocally, so you need to tell your Caravaners that such and such treasure chest is up ahead; as the Caravaner to the right of you says there are three baddies by that treasure chest. Each dungeon has special "treasures" (I prefer the term artifacts) that boost up your abilities. Yes, that's right. There is no leveling up of any kind! Yes, they used the Chrono Cross style of leveling up! Yes, this may suck balls, but it isn't as bad as in Chrono Cross. Actually, it works quite well in this one. Because of the implications that I'm about to tell you. Now you might be wondering how does one choose what artifacts go to whom? Well, whenever you begin a Myrrh (that's what you collect in your Crystal Chalice) stage in multi-player below the map you are given, you will have a selected objective. It can range from "Don't pick up anything" (my father ended up with that one on the very first stage, I spent the whole stage carrying the Crystal Chalice, never found out till after we beat the boss why that was so), to "Take Magical Damage", to "Deal Out Physical Damage, to etc. There are many different ones, and at current time, I've had about 20 different ones. Some repeated, but there are at least 20 to deal with. Whoever has completed their objective as best as they can, gets first choice of artifacts to become theirs. The artifacts range from "Main Gauge", which increases strength, to Arai Helm, which increases defense, to "Blizzard Ring", which is a Materia Ring that lets you cast Blizzard at any point you want as long as it is in your command list. The game plays a lot like most action RPGs. It's hack and slash, with the neccessary spell thrown in to make some terrific bangs and booms, along with the occasional spell. When you get a group of people together to play, it goes from simple hack and slash to the Secret of Mana style of play. Seriously, it is much better in multi-player than in single. When in single player, the AI becomes noticably sketchy and inconsistant, whilst the AI in multi-player seems top notch and constantly trying to kill you. Menus are easy to navigate and get around in. It'll take you awhile to get it to "easy" as there are a lot of menus to go through and you'll sometimes make the error of hitting a wrong menu (and subsequently dying). That's not to say the menus are clunky, but in multi-player, when you don't have a Life Materia and need to find that Plum of a Pheonix (Pheonix Down), you might in your haste, forget to equip it to your command list and instead use it from your item list (which casts it on yourself). Knowing your menus will make it easy to play. In single player the game is only about 10 hours long (I'm at about 4 right now and mostly done, except I think I'll need to buff up my single player). It is your standard action game with RPG elements. Add the multi-player and the game jumps to 30 hours easily. Why? Becuase you need to bring everyone together (in-game). Graphically, this game isn't your typical Final Fantasy. The game is all run on the same engine, so FMVs or cutscenes are all using the same engine. They made this game shine with the graphics as it is probably and I'm saying this without lie, the best graphical looking Final Fantasy to date. Yes, Final Fantasy X is second rate compared to the overal artisticness of this game. Everything is noticable, from the way the water ripples when you walk through it, to the spells, to every the swinging of your sword. I've spent a good couple of minutes enjoying towns and stuff because it looked so neat. The only questionable factor is the story. It is not your typical story, nor does it all come at you in the great big chunks you'd expect of an RPG (hence, I prefer to call this an "Adventure" game). You are a Crystal Caravaner, writing in a book called the "Crystal Cronicles" (hence the name), about your adventures collecting Myrrh (dew of the Myrrh Trees). You travel from your hometown of Tipa (default name) to the Iron Deep Mines Region, to former throne of the world, Alfitharia (...spelling is so off) of the Lillities, to the magical city Shella of the Yukes, to practically everywhere. There isn't much of a story per se, just the tellings of the world and how it came to pass that Miasma covers the land and some other things that I'm not about to spoil you on. You can play the game to find those out. Overall, I'd say this is a game that I had hopes for wouldn't end up being say... Mystic Quest like in that it really dumbed down or just was wishy washy (it still was a good game though). Instead, there is a great game here, that when played in multi-player, becomes an event that is a true meaning of the word "adventure". ***Note to those with SPs. In order for you to hook up your GBA SP with the Gamecube connector (offical or third party), you must "loosely" hook it up. You have to fool the Gamecue connector into thinking it is on all the way. As if you do hook it up all the way, it'll lock down on your L & R buttons and then you will not be able to play with the SP. This is because, at the time, Crystal Cronicles wasn't created with the SP in mind, so the connectors weren't either.***
  4. All your Final Fantasy: Crystal Cronicles discussiony things go here. I created this thread so we don't have everyone plauging the board with questions and that in other threads. Myself, I just rented the game (just short on the cash to buy the game) and frankly I'm not sure if the GBA connectors were built with GBA SPs in mind. The hook up is slightly holding down my L+R buttons and hence I'm not sure if I can use it sufficently as a controller. Anyone know if the stupid connector affects playing at all? Maybe I'll just let my dad have that one, so I can do all the killing with the GBA. I'll have more for discussionary thoughts in about oh... Half an hour. Waiting for my mom's show to finish then I'll take the big screen tv and begin playing.

    Fantasy NBA League?

It makes a difference because I'm trying to make it so everyone doesn't start complaining about it. That's why I'm trying to get the stats all fixed up before we begin for next year. That way, everyone knows what stats we are going to have, and no one begins complaining as we progress through through the season that there should be "such and such" stat. And as I stated, I'm not reducing it down to just five categories. That's too little to choose from and you'd be more inclined to pick up the stars only. If a team can't get stars, then they'll believe they are screwed and not compete. I don't want that. Rotisserie format will only happen if the majority want it that way.

    Fantasy NBA League?

*sighs* I'm talking about if you need a slot filled and can't get someone of star calibur Al. Besides, the reason I'm changing the stats for next season is because I've had complaints about the stats for most of the season (until recently). Hence, I'm trying to get a system everyone agrees with. ...or are you all (as in every single manager) suddenly in favor of the system we have?

    The McMahon involvement at WMXX

I didn't see NWO if that's what you were refering to. If the old man can still do commentary, then let him do it with the Smackdown brand. Because that way he can promote the "second rate brand" and help them become more over... Then again, Vince wouldn't do that. ...ok, I admit it, I just want Vince on commentary because at least he would be better than any of them right now.

    Brock Lesnar

The reason for RAW looking better is because it still is classified as WWE's flagship (and some days, rightfully so, on others, we wince at this). Also because RAW is live and there can be no fuck ups, they have to make everything look 100% correct. Whereas on Smackdown, since it is taped, they can cut a corner here and there and still get the product out and looking worthy of attention.

    The McMahon involvement at WMXX

He could borrow Bischoff's "This Makes Me Look Less Fat" tux. Vince will probably just get a remake of his original tux from Wrestlemania XX. I could just see Vince being a third commentator for Smackdown. Just to remember what he was like in the old days as an announcer. ...he'd suck now, but you know. For old times sake.

    Fantasy NBA League?

I gotz the role playas: Nestovic - Blocks, hell that all he does at this point Eric Williams - FT Rafer Alton - 3 pointers and assist I am sorry that I drafted 4 all star caliber players, plus all of my trades "helped" the other person more than me in "star" power. Ahem... I wasn't speaking of you Guerrero. I'm sort of speaking of people like myself, who pick up players who give an all around performance, instead of making sacrifices to get a "role player" who would be of use picking up a statistic.

    Fantasy NBA League?

I'm not looking for teams having a shot winning. I'm looking for a "fair" league. That's about it. Yes, this season wasn't bad, but I still don't like how star players are what everyone needs to aim for. I mean, not too many of the 16 teams have an identifiable role player on the team. And by role player, I mean someone who's basically only there for the one player roster. Ok... I'm taking a look at the categories possible and then I'm putting up a list and why it is there. We'll proceed from there. I fucked up my list to get everything finalized as I had 8 once again (the one I had missed was TOs), and it doesn't help at all (as I was pointed out about centres). So scrap it... And recrafting it now... So yes, this stupid listing is still debateable because I fucked it up. Nice job me, woo... God somedays, I need to smack myself for being so lamebrained. *takes a look inbetween reading about NWO and comes up with a listing for next season* Ok... Here's what I'm thinking 01) Field Goals Made - This statistic still favors the centres but not as much so as they still have to put the shots in the net. 02) Field Goals Missed - This statistic is a must have less to win it. Why am I including this statistic? So that clutch players, or players who shoot a lot, will have a downside to them. Again, this doesn't affect centres much. 03) Free Throw % - It effects centres. That's all this stat is for really. 04) 3 Points Made - Three ball shooters who hit get rewarded. 05) Points - Makes those stars worth every play they make. 06) Assists - For assist friendly stars, like Nash and company. 07) Rebounds - For the people who take up the boards like no other. 08) Blocks - Of course, you need your blockers to do their jobs. 09) Steals - For those crafty thiefs and their thefty ways. 10) Turnovers - For the idiots who just give up the ball easily. 11) Fouls - This is strategic in most cases and yes a lot of people probably are groaning how the person who has less would get it, but if I remember correctly, the NHL's PIMs are classified as whoever has the most, so more than likely so too would this statistic. So you might wanna pick up that Artest fellow. God, I didn't want to make it simplied speaking, but I just can't go beyond that today. Anyways, debate away till I get something that isn't bitchable (even to myself).

The One And Only Final Fantasy: Crystal Cronicles

Ok... Well, I've almost got the single player mode wrapped up and I must say that the game is totally built for multi. Single player just isn't worth while for this game. Sure, it is fun, but not as fun as multi. Also, when playing the game (single player or multi) create eight characters. One for each family "legacy" (as I like to call it) there is. Why? Because you get some cool things if you do so. You also should build up characters respectively (hence, use all eight, another reason multi makes it more fun, less time spent on doing so). If you wish to level up your character, repeat a stage, get to the end, and select whichever treasure you wish to use to boost up your character you are using. Also don't go thinking you'll be able to buy Mythril items quickly. Mythril costs 5000 gil a chunk... It took me most of the game time spent (which is six hours) to get up to 1000 gil. I haven't found any creature who drops it, so you most likely have to buy it. Which sucks. In an interesting note about the game, you can't sell off equipment made for your character. This makes sense, since the equipment is built exactly for you. Oh and Alchemists are the guys who basically discover new works like equipment, crafting materials, etc. I think. I haven't actually bothered to use my other characters for my single player mode. Oh. Does anyone know how I can make quick cash in the game? I'm sitting on a freaking Master's Weapon, and I'd really would like to get it but of course, I need a Mythril... Which I no where enough cash to get that chunk of it.

    Competitive League Football

Anyways, so this week is getting really fucking strange. From new job interview (directive services, 411), to seeing a theft in progress, to my latest weirdness. On Wednesday, I was on my break during work and heard a fellow co-worker, Adam, talking about that he decided on a name, Cavaliers. Of course, I'm curious about what he was calling Cavaliers, and it turns out that he was talking about the football team that he was putting together for the Alberta Football League (AFL is comprised of some people who've never played, mostly high school players, and ex-professionals; it is also a full contact league) this season. Intrigued I talked to him more about it, and apparently he's got the team mostly set up together 30 (minimum of 30 to start a team, for the first season). Just needs to get the minor details worked out, but it was all set. I chuckled saying that I had used to play Rugby and if I had known, I'd might've given it a shot at playing. I was pretty good at catching, dodging and all that stuff needed for a runningback/wide receiver and it isn't like I've got a life or something. He shrugged and told me that if I wanted to, I could join. I laughed and told him that the Cavaliers probably are mostly guys who've played before. He told me that since it was only a 30 man roster, there was still spots I could play if I wanted. Besides, most of the Cavaliers haven't played competitive football before, so me joining wouldn't be a problem. Of course, I shot off "Sure! I'll sign up", before my brain went "think logically of all the bad reasons why you can't do this", so after I had agreed, brain goes "are you fucking nuts?" So I try to naturally back out of it due to I can't afford this. Sadly, that wasn't really my true excuse (although, I'm trying to figure out how I can), I just didn't really think about the fact that I haven't played a game of any type in over three years due to health related issue. So I'm pretty much a bag of gas when it comes to endurance, strength, and durability. Now, then, as you might've guessed since I'm posting this up, I am still going to go through with this (if I can, I'm still not sure if I can get enough money). I'm also posting this because I'd like to ask for any sports person (or anyone with football experience) to relay any tips (diet wise, workouts, etc.) or that so I at least stand a chance. If everything goes ok, and that, I promise to continually give updates on how we are doing, what's going on, stuff like that. Also I'm quite sorry if this is more of a General Chat sort of topic, but since this is about competitive football and this is Sports related, I figured to place it here to be more topical place to put this.

    Fantasy NBA League?

Uhh... what? What statistics do you use, then? I've been doing this fantasy thing for three years now, and I've never been in, or even seen a league that didn't use FG%, FT% and turnovers. Well it is different and fun............well because I am winning I can see why people do not like fouls as some teams just use certain bench players to make fouls for possession reasons but that is a matter of luck. No FT% makes Shaq and Duncan into gods. No FG% makes AI and Gilbert Arenas into a MVP players. ...thank you for pointing that out Raza. I didn't even take that into consideration. I need something to balance out so at least you can have bench players who can still do something, instead of everyone must having the "star" players. With the statistic, a lot of "stars" become UnGodly, but still are stars. FG% and FT% now included for next season. This will not be debated further, as I need something to make the lower players worth while looking at (as long as they shoot good), instead of everyone grabbing the high quality players and if their one or two marque players go down for the count, they be screwed (see pretty much half of the league this season). Since pretty much everything else is getting shot down (including FGmade, FTmade, and 3PTmade), these two will be added. I wasn't about to make it those 5 categories that depended on "star" players. No way in hell. Finalized: FG%, FT%, PTS, ASTS, REBS, BLKS, STLS. Seven categories in total. FEBRUARY 19TH IS TRADE DEALINE!!!

As long as they get rid of that instigator rule... Then I could see goalies be fair game. Enforcers can't do squat these days with how obscene they make some of the calls lately. And the instigator rule.

    Fantasy NBA League?

Hm... You know, that is true. We should include turnovers and fouls for the very reasons above. Categories (TBF): PTs, ASTs, STLs, BLKs, REBs, TOs, and Fs. As for precentages, I just realized that it wouldn't matter if you did pick someone who gets 2 for 2 and scores 100%. It's still a collective average and so you'd still have to pick very efficient shooters to get this right. Doesn't mean will go with them but you're still not assured of getting a high percentile because one shoots good, you might have four or five guys who shoot 15%.

I agree with the rule of goalies not allowed behind the red line. Just because some goalies do take awful sweet time behind that red line, or slid back behind the line when the puck is going by and whammo someone takes said goalietender out.

Will you notice an NHL Shutdown?

Hockey fan here and I certainly would notice it. Especially since I live in the "City Of The Champions". The Oilers are a big thing, and if I don't see a thing on the news, newspaper, or TV, I'll definitely notice it.

Waiver priority is set by who takes what position in the draft I believe. I might be able to due something about it during mid-season, but everyone had click "Commish has no right to do so" or something along those lines and such. I assume, I'm not sure. Ok for next season then, it'll be a redraft if people don't agree. However, every season after that, we have keepers. Because I think people still will play for a third season, yes? Those five would work. If everyone doesn't mind that, I'm fine with it. Also would people prefer seven players playing and just two benches (no change in roster size)? Or should we move to seven players playing and three benches? I'm thinking that maybe IL could be lowered from three to two. What say you?

    Fantasy NBA League?

...complicated? How so? I'm just doing the simple things of asking the questions "Are we going to add another Utility spot to the roster?", "Do we need more stats?", "Should we expand to 18 if all 15 teams return (as two people wish to join)"? How complicated is that? I just wrote up a summary of what some had said up to that point (more or less, as some people added their opinions afterwards). Anyways, so here's what's confirmed: ~ We are split on the decision of moving from 16 teams to 18 teams. ~ Majority agree that two keepers are enough, that they'll take your first round and second round picks. ~ Majority disagree that three keepers plus a must trade or forfeit of top keeper rule. ~ Majority agree that the draft, should it be expand or not, team that has the first overall pick, shall retain the first overall pick for every round. ~ Undecided on the issues of trading picks/keepers during drafting (this is not the rule that I thought we should impliment, just saying should we allow trading during drafting). ~ Majority disagree with a major stats increase (mostly no one cares for %s). However, I still think we should at least count the "missed" categories for next season. Means you need a shooter who can hit his shots. I also think we should seriously consider turnovers as well. Discuss further please. TRADE DEADLINE FEBRUARY 19TH!!! REMEMBER THAT!!!
