  1. Oh and yes, for all those people who wish to make trades... Feb 19th is trade deadline day. Next week.
  2. Just so everyone gets a clear view of this. The Proposal For Next Season: Rotissaire or Head To Head - While some people wish for this instead of the current head to head system, I think we should remain Head To Head. Yes, not everyone gets their starters to play 5 games a week, but look at how many upsets have happened because of this. I myself have trounced at least 3 teams now 6-2 or 7-1 because of this (and having a lot of blind luck help along the way). This wouldn't happen under Rotissaire. Statistical Increase - Whether people like it or not, there will be a stats increase come next season. Too many people complained about it favoring the starters only and hence if you had a weak team due to blind luck, you got hurt badly for it. So next season, % will probably come into play. Others may come into play, all of these may not come into play next season. % will most likely come into play next season, inceasing categories from 8 to maybe 11. This is not set in stone, but I really do believe that at least %s should come into play next season as you don't need the guys who score all the points to win these categories. Just the guys who shoot the best. Yes, that means you can fill your team with good shooters who get you those three categorial points, but that also show that you've got a broad sense of picking up some good shooters. Yes, some of the starters do shoot good, but they have to take how many they make. I also believe there was missed categories as well that could be added, so that if you've got stars, and they shoot 15-30, you have that coming back to haunt you as well. Expansion - Since we dropped down to 15 officially since Mr. J will not likely be back due to his banning (as this being a TSM-Only League), and two competitors wishing to join, expansion will probably be needed. Most likely this will increase the teams to 18 (assuming all 15 teams stay), as both are willing to join and we need even teams (can't play with odd amount of teams). Unless someone is not returning. If someone is not, then we'll be fine. Roster Increase - Next season will be interesting. You will most likely have a increase in the roster by one player. Most likely this will be another utility position or guard position. As many of us have 4-5 guards just sitting there doing nothing. It might also be an extra bench slot. It all depends on what people have to say. Keeper Rule/Draft - For the upcoming draft, you will have a three player keeper rule but having to trade at least one player in the first or second round. If you do not trade at least one of the three keepers in the first or second round, you will forfeit your top player (determined by Yahoo's O-Ranking) for the third round. If you are first in the first round, you are first in the second round and so forth. You will have to make your choice of taking Keepers or starting the drafting anew by March 21st (tentative date), the day before our regular season comes to a close. Also, your drafting position is either going to reflect pre-playoffs or playoff results. I'm leaning more to pre-playoffs, but this is up for debate as is everything. You'll have at least two weeks prior to the draft to trade away one of your keeps if we go that route. That's the proposal. Discuss.
  3. This is me after seeing Comcast's proposal of buying Disney... This is me after just seeing that a consortium was being lead to stop Comcast. This is me after reading who is the leader(?) of said concortium. Seriously, I hope Pixar can buy out Disney. Everything Pixar has done with Disney has been gold, so obviously, Pixar does know what it is doing with Disney. Hence, they probably are a good shot of knowing how to make it viable again.
  4. The current league has 16 teams. I would hope that the league doesn't get more teams next season. I would expect at least one or two owners won't take part next year. All you have to do is find new owners for those teams and allow them to pick their 2 (or 3 or however many) keepers from the teams. Then after everyone has picked keepers (which IMO needs to be done close to the end of this season, maybe before the NBA finals) just post them in this thread and then when next season rolls around, start a new thread and post the keepers from each team at the top of the draft. That's what I was planning on doing originally, with my idea (look two posts up and you'll see it) working. And I think we can expand a little bit. Sure, it means the pool spreads a little thin, but I think it can be spread just a tad more. Besides, I'm not about to reject anyone who wishes to join. I think this league can work well with with 20 people (probably not have an extra slot for roster if we go that high), as long as everything is balanced out.
  5. That's what I had said in my very first post regarding the situation. Also, there will be a period of time before the draft when you must make the decision. You either take the players, or try your luck at getting draft picks. However, those managers who keep players have the option of trading certain players to get coveted picks in the first and second round. Depending. I'm thinking that since most of the league (15 of us, Mr. J will not be returning) that two people will be selected via your personal preference, and the third option is chosen at random (or at a selection, I'm still working on this). That could work too. But I think that people who are the best in the league and take the top 3 draft picks away, might realize that they are about to get shafted of some great player, they might want to trade up. Or we could slate that a manager can take three players into the draft, but must trade at least one away. *shrugs* Adds a bit of a twist, as they'll have to figure out when and where. And if they don't trade within the first and second round, they'll lose their top player for round three and have a scheduled pick for round three. Oh, and just to make sure that the winning teams have to go out and make trades, it'll be just a straight up draft. Meaning that if Citrus has first draft pick in the first round, he'll have it in the second round. So if Guerreos wins the Championship, he's in last place and if he doesn't make a trade, he gets screwed. What do you think of that? I think that's highly fair that way. It means, you MUST at least be willing to compromise and if you aren't careful you get busted. As I said previously, I was thinking of increasing the roster by at least one or two for next season.
  6. <----Kittismilie owns ALL OF YOUR SOULS~! ...that doesn't neccessarily mean Kittiesmilie is the greatest, just owns your souls. I'm still trying to find the "purfect" avatar for me.
  7. You know... I gotta say the same thing. He reminds me of Slovakia.
  8. Bastard. That doesn't help ME any! I'm the guy who's running this and I need people's feedback. Not most of the crowd going "I'll agree with the group decision, even if it is made by the minority"
  9. *shrugs* I can do up two different ones next season, if everyone agrees to doing both leagues. However, if we do a rot league, it is straight up anyone's game. Drafting will e the exact same as this season. Actually, I'm putting a spin on the draft. You CAN trade a player for a draft pick. Say someone's got the #1 draft pick and you trade them, *shrugs* Kobe Bryant. Only works for the players you have and only the first two rounds. Does that sound feesible to everyone? This way, top drafting players can pick up some might fine trades? And should it be 2 or 3 people keeping? I'm adding a few more slots to the roster (I'm thinking another bench and another utility), so imput on keeping and this is requested.
  10. He wants you there. He's disappointed that he can't have you, because he probably sees your potential and is just going "dammit, dammit, dammit, dammit (repeatedly)... Why the hell does this kid show up NOW? I wish I could've had him from day one and then we'd have a serious wonder here." No, I'm not kidding. If the guy is letting you attend practices, he wants you there and sees you have the makings of something worthwhile. It was actually how I ended up on the Rugby team, I attended a practice or two to help out the Coach, but wound up on the team and was our team's best player (I can back that up when I scored half our team's points in one touranment). So just keep at it, and you'll probably be there on the starting team next year Dama.
  11. Maybe not, maybe so. If that's what the people want for next season, we can go with that. However, I'm not too sure how rot works. Anyone care to explain for the uneducated?
  12. Since kickoff is March 3rd, you might be late for this season, but heck, at least go through with it. You never know.
  13. You know... Someday, I think the SWF should compile their collective stories together and bring out a book called: "SWF: The World Of Professional Wrestling". Because you guys (SWFers) have and probably always will be the great writers that you guys are. And deserves some credit and all that for the cool matches you guys put on and that.
  14. Why not call the Interim Commish and ask about the league itself? Might be your best bet. Or drop a line on the message board, might be a way to go too.
  15. It's Semi-Pro. Hell, if I can get in without playing a single competitive football game, I'm quite sure they'd like someone with background in the game.
  16. Yes, that is the same league. You can go from there to compete for the National Championships, apparently. You found that league pretty damn fast didn't you? Also, Adam said that some of the guys from AFL have gone on to play for the CFL. I'd love that, but it'd be doubtful I'd get that lucky. But it is a Semi-Pro league. You just don't get paid to play. I'm five feet eight and a half inchies. I'm one hundred and sixty pounds. So I'm kinda skinny... Ok, I'm just skinny scary. It's pretty upscale. As I said previously, this is a league that does compete for National Championships... Hell, the National Championship Team, the Calgary Wolfpack are in this league. Shit, the Wolfpack have owned the league, winning the Alberta Championship nine times in the eighteen year history of the league. Well, Adam's getting a fee of 25 dollars from each player to raise up 6000 dollars to pay for travel, refs, field time, and that. So I don't think travel will be a problem, and even if it is, I think we'll just get in a van or something and do a road trip. There's an additional 200 dollars to be paid for your helm, game jersey, game pants, and a team jacket. Then there's the costs of the training gear and those one time costs. I'm not sure about those, as I haven't gone and checked it out. I'm going to find out here soon at the local Sports Chek and see how much this is going to whip my wallet. Although, I've been told by Adam, that as long as I sign up and I don't have the cash to buy the gear right away, I can join in true play at a later date. As long as I play two games, I'm officially there. Actually Damararu... Oklahoma Football League You do have one apparently. Since you are in Oklahoma, I'd suggest Okla City Fire. Might be a way to show OU that you ARE worth having around. I'd suggest also talking to the commish to help that out. ...I like your Semi-Pro League's site more than my own's.
  17. BTW Cuban, remember, you have to choose two players or none at all. Also remember, this is still not finalized, because we don't know who places where. Or who ends up joining. So if we've got 20 teams, I might just cancel keeping players or slap it down to a single player. Also the lineup to be determined for categories for next season: FG% FG FT% FT 3PT% 3PT% PTS ASTS REBS STLS TOS FOULS BLKS Those are the supposed categories for next year. This is still up in the air. It's a total of 13. So we don't end up with 4-4 ties (although, that's not a bad thing). Once again, the draft will be offline. Just because it was so much fun this previous time.
  18. Anyways, so this week is getting really fucking strange. From new job interview (directive services, 411), to seeing a theft in progress, to my latest weirdness. On Wednesday, I was on my break during work and heard a fellow co-worker, Adam, talking about that he decided on a name, Cavaliers. Of course, I'm curious about what he was calling Cavaliers, and it turns out that he was talking about the football team that he was putting together for the Alberta Football League (AFL is comprised of some people who've never played, mostly high school players, and ex-professionals; it is also a full contact league) this season. Intrigued I talked to him more about it, and apparently he's got the team mostly set up together 30 (minimum of 30 to start a team, for the first season). Just needs to get the minor details worked out, but it was all set. I chuckled saying that I had used to play Rugby and if I had known, I'd might've given it a shot at playing. I was pretty good at catching, dodging and all that stuff needed for a runningback/wide receiver and it isn't like I've got a life or something. He shrugged and told me that if I wanted to, I could join. I laughed and told him that the Cavaliers probably are mostly guys who've played before. He told me that since it was only a 30 man roster, there was still spots I could play if I wanted. Besides, most of the Cavaliers haven't played competitive football before, so me joining wouldn't be a problem. Of course, I shot off "Sure! I'll sign up", before my brain went "think logically of all the bad reasons why you can't do this", so after I had agreed, brain goes "are you fucking nuts?" So I try to naturally back out of it due to I can't afford this. Sadly, that wasn't really my true excuse (although, I'm trying to figure out how I can), I just didn't really think about the fact that I haven't played a game of any type in over three years due to health related issue. So I'm pretty much a bag of gas when it comes to endurance, strength, and durability. Now, then, as you might've guessed since I'm posting this up, I am still going to go through with this (if I can, I'm still not sure if I can get enough money). I'm also posting this because I'd like to ask for any sports person (or anyone with football experience) to relay any tips (diet wise, workouts, etc.) or that so I at least stand a chance. If everything goes ok, and that, I promise to continually give updates on how we are doing, what's going on, stuff like that. Also I'm quite sorry if this is more of a General Chat sort of topic, but since this is about competitive football and this is Sports related, I figured to place it here to be more topical place to put this.
  19. Just so you know people, anyone returning from this season will have quite an interesting opportunity. I'm thinking of invoking a two-three player keeper rule. Meaning you automatically keep two-three players from your current team for next season. The downside this? You lose your top two-three draft picks. Also, you can't go "well, I wanna keep one of them", you only get all or none. And there will be selected day for whom you can choose. On top of this, there will be a selected date for when or when not you can select going option a or option b. So say I select Jason Terry as a keeper and he goes down before the draft, I'm stuck with him as that is whom I choosed! And you also might miss the opportunity of making a steal of a life time, in case, someone like Glenn Robinson is available. To any newcomers, you automatically will be placed ahead of other people in the draft. However, it will be random lottery style (I'll do the lottery myself, since I'm, after all, a fair sorta of guy). To those who remain for next season you will be placed according to where you placed in the rankings (so if you are say, last place, you are first among returners). So what you think of that? Anyone agree or disagree with the above propositions? Good, bad, ugly? Just something to say to pass the time.
  20. Allegied Rapists, that's a nice trade, but no. I'm losing statistics almost across the board. I'm not paying that type of price to get a good centre. No deal.
  21. I think I've got a good shot at making the 7-12 squad and taking it. I mean, with my team the way it is, I'm just flooring the opposition. ...I'll have to wait for my week against Guerreros (next week) to get a good judge of it.

  23. Yes Sandman. You had Voshon Lenard. I think I traded him to you at some point.
  24. *Blood curdling scream ensues from the untimely death of happy kittismilie.* NO!!!!!!!! YOU KILLED THE HAPPY KITTISMILIE~! *Lightning Flik goes and hugs beloved, dead kittismilie, as the DragonZoid's missiles blows up the surrounding area. Quite a tradgic end to the both of them. Oh, Thumbtack gets hit by a missile and gets blown up to little itty bity pieces.* *The ghost of Lightning Flik coughs* Ahem... But I do believe you forgot the * and *, MrRant.
  25. Ok, after my interview, the store I rented Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles from, Microplay, had four copies of the game stolen. I saw the culprit do a lot of funny stuff and something didn't feel right about it. So I checked the stack of FF:CC games that Jay (the guy who works there) had and low and behold there wasn't # of copies. Told Jay, he immediately ran after them (I didn't because he beat me to it and he had the phone, so he could call the cops to let them know), and that's what happened. I think I might have the cops from St. Albert phone me up to get a positive id check or something along that lines, since I got a better look at the customers than Jay had. *shrugs* That's about the jist of the story.
