To expand on that, it was called the Slim Jim Challenge. IIRC, Orndorff defeated Duggan while Pillman upset Big Bubba Rogers to get to the finals. The episode also featured the last meaningful match in Steve Austin's WCW career when he got squashed (back at Center Stage) to Randy Savage in a 2nd round US Title tournament match. -
In the "Countdown to Armageddon" (Royal Rumble) match on Thunder in Oct 2000, one of the Harris Boys comes to the ring which triggers this banter: Stevie Ray: He rolled into the ring. Tony Schiavone: He really did, he rolled right on in there. Stevie: He rolled into the ring!! Schiavone: And now pounding away on Alex Wright. Stevie: HE ROLLED INTO THE RING!!! Schiavone: I KNOW! Stevie: HE'S SAVING HIS STRENGTH!!! HE ROLLED INTO THE RING!!! Definitely my fondest Stevie Ray moment.

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

Who could forget Pat Tanaka using Goldberg's theme in WCW? Well, I lot of people could. -
Watching Nitro live, I enjoyed the fast pace of the show. However, on a 2nd look, they're awfully hard to rewatch as most matches go right to the finish as soon as the bell rings.

Butch Reed's 1992 WCW run. He was supposed to challenge Ron Simmons for the WCW Title but I don't know what became of that. -
I must say I marked out when one of the Harris Boys busted out a manager's license on a 2001 ep of Thunder as a 'neck injury' prevented him from wrestling. But Hey, I remember Gorilla Monsoon saying on an edition of SNME that Earthquake shouldnt be allowed to accompany Dino Bravo because he doesnt have a Managers License.. Jesse asked 'how do you know he doesnt have a managers license gorilla?' to which monsoon replied 'Because he holds a Wrestling lisence... and you cant hold BOTH licenses... get that guy outta here!' So I fear the Harris Boy license was a fake! I just got off the phone w/ Ric Flair (against his attorney's orders) who was President of WCW at the time and he informed me that Don Harris had his wrestling license suspended so that he could procure a manager's license to be at his brother's side at all times.

Booker T injured at house show

Or pull the Pretty Boy Bobby Heenan monologue from when he was to face Cowboy Bob Ellis yesteryear. It's on the Wrestling Gold dvd set. (W/ crutches) "I was getting ready for the match, came down the steps. Slipped and I hurt my knee. Now, I can't wrestle tonight. But perhaps we can postpone the match about 5-6 months so my knee can heal." -
Mulligan didn't last too long. He did have 2 SNME appearances though. In January of 87 he won "The Battle for Texas" over JJ Funk and in March he was quickly dumped out of a 20-Man battle royal.

It's a BIG matchup, ya see. Which warrants a BIG contact signing, ya see. HHH vs. BIG Show is now official for New Year's Revolution . . . that's BIG news, ya see. Seriously, I have no idea. I guess every HHH match calls for a segment w/ a parade of props and lots of red carpet.

How about Thelma from Mama's Family? Gooooodddd Lord Shelton!
-
I'm hoping they hire the mom from Family Matters (Jo Marie Payton?). She can keep calling Shelton 'Eddie' by mistake. This will trigger Eddie chants whenever Shelton wrestles and force Vince to push him.

CHVideo's "History of Wrestling" Opening Montage

I'll check to see if I have it on my cpu when I get home, but that was a badass opening. Never really appreciated it until I got a bit older since when I was a kid, I found it to be a nuicance(sp?) to FF through. The clip of Andre slamming Kamala at MLG in the cage is boss. EDIT: Well, I checked and I do have a mp3 of CV's 2nd theme used in 1987. I also have a video file of the opening of WrestleMania w/ Vince listing the matches w/ the tune you're talking about playing in the background instead of that Phil Collins' song. -
Anyone know what year this occured?
-
And that's only if you don't mind staring at Rude's bare ass for 10 minutes. Most of Piper's matches ended in screwjobs so the odds of having a classic are far less. FYI --- The Piper/Rude cage match is on SuperTape II and a couple other 1hr CVs full of recycled matches.

It was definitely one of Batista's breakout shows. "Plenty of time, plenty of time."

I don't mind being tailgated on the highway half as much as I hate it when chronic lane changers can't make up their mind on the main road. It's 25mph due to having about 6-8 traffic lights per mile yet everyone thinks they're going to beat the system by streaming around everyone. It never works as the city (most cities I'd imagine) obviously have the lights rigged to make sure everyone has to pay their dues at the ol red light district.

Basically the pseudo-faction of Sting/Savage/Hogan were having tizzies for weeks. Who's on who's side? Is Sting w/ Luger? Is Luger not a bad guy after all? Who can Savage trust? What's Hogan's deal? Blah blah blah. So, Hogan and Savage both reverted to the 'dark side' (IIRC, after Hogan had his mustache shaved off by the DoD) where they dressed in black despite remaining faces. They felt this would help them in the battle w/ the Dungeon of Doom. Most notably, Hogan dressed in black in his 1st match vs. Sting.
-
So, why can't they do both shows? Are only McMahon promoted memorial cards legit while others 'aren't on his level'?
-
Jeezus, he really is getting lazy.

I feel bad for not getting this He got premium treatment at the emergency room for his papercut. Sadly, this is one of the few DiBiase vignettes I never saw.
