The OaO WWE Raw thread (8/25/2008)

Yeah, that's pretty much the point of every Santino match for the last year.

Perfect timing to put the belt on a guy

Good question. I think the bullshit blood finish really made it look like Luger should have won the title.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

That's true but he'll pin Benjamin anyway.

Primo looked like a big bowl of Bran Flakes out there. He'll be jobbing at a house show near you in 4-6 weeks.

Cause Long/Guerrero ripped it off of Adamle I guess. And yeah, no is a mistake. Maybe is in there to get pinned 10 or so times since he's from the Cleveland area. Though I doubt the fans will give a shit. No one cared last year at a SD taping. I'm thinking the ECW Scramble will have 5-7 changes while Punk's match will have no falls at all and HHH will pin Benjamin for the only fall of that match.

Looks like Charlie Haas may be getting Stevie Richards's old 1999-2000 gimmick of mimmicking other gimmicks.

    WWE.com Legacy

The folks at WWE 24/7 Online have put up a poll for which Nitro show should be aired. I looked at the lineups and it's between the first Nitro, a shitty Nitro that had the nWo harassing Elizabeth in a hotel or something like that (I only remember since it was in Cleveland), the only nWo Nitro, and Russo's Wargames ep. Oh yeah, I voted for some Russo fun. Appears you can only vote once this time though.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

IIRC, it was some of both. I'd have sworn the Survivor Series match was shredded to itty bits.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

Plus, it aired on USA on New Year's Eve.

    Debuts than Downfalls

I loved his super BMF character he had in June/July of 2000 where he'd just randomly attack people to be a dick. At Fully Loaded, he squashed Al Snow then attacked Rikishi in his cage match later on.

    Primetime Disscussion Thread

I think it's called Rhapsody in Blue.

    The OAO Wrestling Quotes Game

(Referring to Afa and Sika's cooking on TNT) Lord Alfred Hayes: That would give a cat rabies. McMahon: *laughing* I beg your pardon. Hayes: That would give a large pussycat rabies.

    The NFL Preseason Thread.

For as shitty as this preseason has gone for the Browns, I'm really going to miss Bernie Kosar commentating these games. Team this man up w/ John Madden! Bernie Bernie Oh Whoa He can throw Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Bernie Bernie Oh Whoa Super Bowl Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Obviously it didn't turn out that way but the late 1980s were a fun time in dreary Cleveland.

    The OAO Wrestling Quotes Game

Monsoon: There it is! El paso del muerte! And Shawn rolls to the outside. Heenan: What did you say that was, extra hot Pace Picante?!? Monsoon: Will you be serious?!?

AWA Wrestling back on the air

He definitely had a jive. I assumed his match prior was so bad they didn't want to air it. I think it was kind of humorous how Harley Race still sported a crown (although a smaller one) on his ass for his match w/ Larry Z. I smirked when Zbyzko shouted "Maybe if you eat more, you'll get fatter!" to a fan during a headlock. I mean really, what a dopey thing to say.

    WWE Smackdown (8/22/2008)

If I was a betting man, I'd say HHH scores the one and only pinfall of the match over Benjamin early on.

    WWE Smackdown (8/22/2008)

They're a little more grounded than that.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

wwe.com has a full chapter (Intercontinental Champ) up from Mr Perfect's dvd.

    WWE Smackdown (8/22/2008)

I'll have to admit that got a chuckle out of me. I was waiting to see HHH name the 3 other opponents and then be legit trying to remember the name of the 4th fella. As for Broddock, he looks like a dead ringer for James Storm. That said, they could have at least given him a win over Braden Walker before BW's departure. Definitely looking forward to Truth's debut. Comparisons to Fatu's 1995 vignettes aside, Truth's segments have been very good leading up to next week.

AWA Wrestling back on the air

I skimmed through this week's AWA eps. Not pretty. They tried their hand at a team Royal Rumble. Not a sterling effort but at least it was a tad entertaining. DJ Peterson was unsuccessful at winning the AWA Title . . . yeah, I'm surprised too. Magnificent Mimi was looking delicious for her match w/ Candi Devine . . . who at least is prettier than Donna Gagne, but not by much. Tonight's show had the Tokyo Bullets (w/ dark hair coming out of the masks this time) defeat the Texas Hangmen in a 2 out of 3 fall match. Bad enough to give a person a cramp. I can't believe I remembered that much other than the plethora of WT Jones jobs.

    In Your House #4 - October 1995

I believe "Good Friends Better Enemies" in 4/96 was the 1st subtitled IYH. I think WWE added Great White North as a subtitle well after the event.

    The Old School questions thread

Seemed that way. IIRC, Scotty Riggs got his ass kicked too.

    WWE.com Legacy

Among others, I saw the Spectrum show. For people that complain about how CM Punk is treated as champion, they need to see Savage/DiBiase. Savage gets whomped pretty much the whole match and only gets DiBiase down when Virgil removed the turnbuckle pad and it backfired. Virgil then interferes causing a DQ. Savage doesn't even make his own comeback and is left laying but still champ. Apparently, this led to a cage match the next month but wow, he was made to look like a puss. EDIT - For why I love Dick Graham, see 42:35-42:46 of the Spectrum show.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

IIRC, he got to the ring in short order. I think a song has to play for 20 seconds or so for it to be collectable by the artists. But I could be dead wrong.

What's the best match you've ever seen live?

While I remember having the most fun seeing ECW house shows at the Agora Theater, I really can't remember any standout matches there so I'll go with a tie: - Hardiez vs Edge/Christian - Ladder Match at No Mercy 1999 . . . Not sure how this match has aged but it was spectacular to see live. At the risk of sounding carny, it was worth the price of admission. - RVD vs Jeff Hardy - InVasion . . . I was so pleasantly amazed to see how over RVD was.
