Edge just needs a new finisher. I don't mind if he uses the spear ala Matt Hardy's Side Effect where he gets a consistent near fall, but no way should that spear put away anyone near the main event.

    WWE Smackdown (8/1/2008)

Yeah, I was thinking when he raised his arms that his arms look smaller than usual, then I noticed it's because his gut his getting bigger. I don't know if he's capable of staying in WrestleMania shape on the road. As for the Kendrick push, I'm all for it but I'm not getting my hopes up . . . after all, JR is marking pretty hard for the guy, that'll hurt him.

AWA Wrestling back on the air

Yeah, I watched about a minute of that before FF hoping I'd forget that segment some day. The battle royal wasn't 1/2 bad for what it was but putting that up against the Greco Roman and football match makes it seem like Flair/Steamboat in comparison. I honestly don't mind the new format making each episode seem like more of a live event then just having matches arbitrarily spliced together, but the action is shit. I don't know how they got as many people in that building as they did. I'm mildly surprised Bischoff doesn't suck ass interviewing here. He's pretty decent trying to keep interview on track and not letting wrestlers just ramble on and on and on like Nelson did. Though, we all love Nelson.

IIRC, Sting was a prick for a couple weeks before no-selling the turn. Though it was surreal watching him attack JJ Dillon w/ the roles reversed from 11 years prior.

    Primetime Disscussion Thread

Yeah, I think that was a Scott Keith thing that no one acknowledged Race's past. In reality, all the announcers made note that he was a skilled veteran (can't remember if they referred to him as a former world champ . . . I doubt it). Once the King gimmick came into play, his past was trashed and he became just another character. Which for 1980s standards, being the King of wrestling is hardly a bad thing.

AWA Wrestling back on the air

Ouch, one ep in and 1990 looks putrid. By AWA standards, the color man w/ Marshall isn't too bad. Bischoff is cheesy but not terrible. The wrestling is another story. No wonder Vince stuck Paul Diamond in a mask and never gave him promo time. That interview he had w/ Bischoff was gruesomely bad. Something about being in battle royal and not going over the top and winning because he's not going to be thrown over the top. I didn't know the Team Challenge Series was underway. I thought it was a late 1990-early 1991 deal. I am really dreading the pink studio shows. I actually hope they hit the reset button by then and go back to 1985-86 shows when I wasn't DVRing them and catching about an ep per week. And that main event . . . zoiks. It was supposed to be a Bodyslam Match between The Berzerker and Yokozuna. Only Yoko was a no-show so General Adnan had to fill in and get his flabby ass slammed. Though his prematch promo somewhat made up for it blaming Yoko's absence on all the snow all over the world.

    The Old School questions thread

Coliseum released Saturday Night's Main Event's Greatest Hits in early 1988. It was mostly a Best of Hulk Hogan tape. Then they released More Saturday Night's Main Event in 1989. This tape was much better. Rockers/Busters, Blazer/DiBiase, Hogan/Bad News, ect. Columbia House went on to release a Best of Saturday Night's Main Event tape in either 1990 or 1991. Other than a Hogan/Tugboat vs R&B match, I really don't remember what else was put on the tape.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

I wouldn't mind seeing Dustin get one last run in WWE as plain ol Dustin Rhodes. Seems like WWE is pretty well set on the comedy front, especially on Raw that it can use an old school style hand to put over the youngins.

WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion

After Ahmed Johnson turns his back and gets dropkicked from behind by Jannetty, Gorilla does his best to bury the former IC and tag champ . . . "You can't do that, regardless of the caliber of your competition."

    Let's Talk About....

Maybe Bischoff was afraid if they held off Goldberg/Hogan until Starrcade, Hogan would find an excuse not to do the job.

AWA Wrestling back on the air

Had to be the most entertaining ep I've seen. Nice to see the Showboat actually full instead of looking like a half empty convention center. If Mitch Snow would have been loaded before all his promos, he could have been a mega star. You know Jannetty was getting laid by at least two chicks that night. Nelson going into the dunk tank when it's probably -10 degrees outside . . . probably not too wise. Awesome to see Bischoff's plastic smile even back then. Gagne looks pathetic out there. And his promos are shit. I believe the Nasty Boys already started w/ the AWA since they've been on the Top 5 Tag Team list for at least a few eps already. But yeah, Sags was definitely whoring to the camera. Line of the Night - "It's the wrestling . . federation there is." - Wahoo McDaniel letting everyone know how great the AWA is.

AWA Wrestling back on the air

That fuckin clutz Adonis accidentally cut Hennig's hand w/ that knife. Trongard was flipping out when he thought Adonis handed Hennig the knife. And is it just me or does Wahoo look like a grumpy old crust all the time? Oh my goodness, Larry Nelson is at a bar hosting a New Year's Eve party. God bless that man.

During his entrance, Morrison went to a fan that had his arm extended. He pulled out a long black object and slapped it on the fan's wrist. The band said Loser, Morrison then showed his to the camera. It said Winner. Tremendous.

    ECW on Sci-Fi (7/29/2008)

All that is missing is the classic 'A-OK' gesture to give to the crowd when he escapes potential peril. And holy shit, that Winner/Loser wristband deal was great.
