SmackDown Spoilers - July 11, 2008
MillenniumMan831 replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Good call. Gives them a lot of openings as to where Edge/Vickie goes from there. -
The cost of oil is under $139/barrell and the economy is getting stronger. Plus, school is finally out all over the country. Our great fans finally found that Raw is on USA after moving from Spike. HHH is still twice the draw Punk is.
-
I'm pulling for the SS89 main event. Don't remember if it was actually a good/great match or not but I'm sure Jesse Ventura's venomous comments against Hogan should make it worth a peek. And yeah, no Anthology for me. I haven't bought a single dvd since I moved last year, mostly because I have nowhere to display any of the cases. Each update has about as much as a dvd or two would offer anyway.

Speak of the devil. Anyone have a celly phone?

Best Titantron video ever!

Backlund Chicken Wing!!!!

I completely thought Cena was going to bust out an old Sid-circa 2001 line . . . "Mama says it be'es that way some times" EDIT - Punk should just calmly leave and let the three gorillas yell it out. EDIT - Make that 4 gorillas.
-
I had a casual wrestling fan over for UFC last night. I asked him if he's been keeping up on Raw (the only show he watches due to mild habit than anything else). He said he fell asleep during the draft show and missed last week's ep. "So, CM Punk won the World Championship." "What? Wow, did he beat HHH for it?" "Nevermind. Remember that little Jamaican guy who wrestled a dark match when we saw Smackdown a while back?" "Ummmm . . . I think (He didn't know)" "Well, he's IC champ. And Ted DiBiase's kid and Dusty's kid are tag champs" I think he thinks I'm full of shit but still doesn't really care either way. Eh well.

Seeing Taker in that pic, I get a reminder of a Tazz line from the original Tough Enough "The last time I saw legs like that, they were hanging out of a nest."
-
I loved Meng's entrance in WG95, especially Luger's selling. *chop* OWWWWWWWW *bump, gets up* *chop* OWWWWWWWWWWWWW *bump, gets up* *chop* OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW *bump* I don't have 24/7 so it's pretty much off memory but it was a hoot.

I think we're in the clear there (I hope). Judging by the Hardy promo clip, they're airing some bikini contest on the 15th but yeah, having 50% of the vids be divas yacking about how beautiful the beach is was shit.
-
Edge and Vickie must get back together, either of them turning face would suck hard. Edge has been so good lately that I'm almost willing to forgive him using his horrendous spear as a finisher . . . almost.
-
He seems to be selling his back every entrance. THQ is probably making note of it for the next SD/RAW videogame. EDIT --- Maybe Jamie Noble can give Edge some pointers on how to talk to the ladies.
-
If the video hosted by Matthew Hardy is any indication, on the 15th, the Slaughter/Sheik MSG Bootcamp match will be added as well as Rhodes/Luger from Starrcade 87. And maybe a 7/4 Prime Time Wrestling ep. They showed a clip of Monsoon/Heenan w/ sparklers.
-
IIRC, it was one of, if not, the first videos to use WCW footage.
-
I saw that commercial. They had snippets of celebs saying how great it is but Chavo was reduced as an average joe w/ no testimonial, just a pic. Jimmy Hart, however, made the cut.
-
Caught the Noble/Kane segment. Noble's double-take when he noticed Kane was behind him was gif-worthy.
-
I absolutely loved how on the 2nd ep of Challenge, Volkoff is singing the Russian national anthem (w/ partners Iron Sheik and Hercules) when The Caissons Go Rolling Along blared throughout the arena signaling the arrival of CORPORAL KIRSHNER as he led in . . . ummmm ahem . . . Sal Bellomo and Jim Powers. That did not turn out well for them.
-
Gorilla Monsoon would have been so proud of that backslide . . . he drove with the legs.

Definitely Venkman, it's the complete match, I'm home for lunch and that was the 1st thing I checked. Never saw the match but I reckon I will tonight. I'll plop up a listing of the specials they put up tonight if no one else does (IC Title History, Hotbeds, & Declaration of Independence . . . oh yes, the Mega Powers Explode!).

Fabulous lineup this month. 14 videos in all. Hopefully, they match that in two weeks and don't make us settle for six. But this is definitely their best effort ever. Styles is hooking us up.
