^^^ Definitely agree w/ ya there.

This Miz can work w/ the audience. He actually has some very animated facials. He can be a great stooge heel.

Well Dunn may be my favorite lame mid-90s wrestling pun. Especially when the ring announcer would say ". . . Timothy Well, Steven Dunn, they are Well Dunn!" I mean The Fink never said "They are the Allied Powers!"

That was definitely a dandy of a match, assuming you're referring to the one from MSG. They made it appear that there was a hint of shoot in the early goings but it segued out of that. Pretty decent ending which put over Steamboat as a threat but didn't take the title. Nice crisp kick at the end before Valentine spilled over the top rope.

Since it really doesn't deserve its own thread anymore, here are the matches for WWE Online 24/7 for September 2006:

Totally agreed, even Monsoon and DiBiase was alright (mostly w/ Monsoon mocking DiBiase's corporate team members) but him and Ross were death.

As for the Monsoon/Ladd/JV team that did the 1st batch of Challenges in 9/86, let me assure you, Ladd was beyond HORRIBLE! He couldn't start a sentence without the phrase "Without a shadow of a doubt" or "Without a question of a doubt". Twas fuckin annoying. On the flip side, it was a little difficult watching Monsoon during the New Generation Era putting over Champion Diesel, heel Tatanka, Bundy, ect. Plus, he would just yell a lot more from late 1993-95 (probably on advice from the office to show more enthusiasm). That said I have an eBay bid on Monsoon's WWE announcing figure. And I saw a tidbit about The Gladiator (Ricky Hunter). Who did he blow to keep his job? He was by far the clumsiest jobber I've ever seen in the mid-late 1980s. I mean, I know he's a 'veteran', but geezus, the guy couldn't even hit the ropes without nearly falling down.

Thank you very much for all of this!

And to think, I thought Striker would be used as CM Punk fodder . . . oyvey. -
Was the bell not loud enough for The Franchise?

I figured he meant to say Jungle Jim Steele.

Most underrated Summerslam matches of all time
MillenniumMan831 replied to slabinskia's topic in The WWE Folder
It got bogarted in the middle of MableMania. I'll give one that will probably get shunned (though I haven't seen it in a long while): Bushwhackers vs. Natural Disasters 1991 . . . IIRC, the Disasters were surprisingly stooging and bumping all over the place for the Bushwhackers and the match never dragged to a point where the crowd was disinterested. -
I loved Gorilla's response: "Barry Who?"

I thought Haku gave the belt to a friend in WCW (Barbarian?) before leaving.

I will say that I thought CW put on a nice match w/ Punk. However, I remembered CW as a scary lookin badass only a fool would cross. Not only did it look like he put on 30 pounds but the angry pissed off look on his face was long gone and he just looked washed up. Still, I hope he sticks around as a utility guy.

USWA was bizzarro world in the mid-90s. Every face that Lawler was feuding with would come to Memphis and play heel to Lawler's face character. Even when Lawler invaded ECW, Tommy Dreamer would come to USWA and assume the heel role. lmao he even had Patterson with him as his stooge then but it made sense as in the WWF Lawler would make fun of Vince while they announced the matches, but Memphis probably didnt care about the WWF so hes still a face to them I remember catching a few USWA eps back in 94 or so, and Lawler would pretty much just laugh off his WWF shtick as if he's just doing what he's told in NY.

If Monsoon was calling the match: "Anderson sure appears to have bulked up for this one!"
-
The angle definitely kept me glued to the tv for the whole hour. KK shreiking "CALL THE POLICE!!!" was gold.

Brian Pillman's WWF Press Conferrence

Nice stuff . . . Pillman is great and all but no one pulls rank on Monsoon. -
To compliment the earlier Pillman media posts, here's his Loose Cannon theme:

Huh?

Christ, that would suck.

Covers you liked better than the original?

Bruce Dickinson's take of The Zoo Judas Priest's version of Johnny B Goode (although, I hate the original) And my favorite cover: Faith No More's "War Pigs" -
They'll probably stick the Brooklyn Brawler in there against him.
