It's time for you, the POSTERS, to decide!
Dr. Tom replied to IllustriousOne's topic in No Holds Barred
Maybe if you tried, you could be a little more wrong. Something to shoot for, slugger. No one in that folder deserves to be banned for their regular posting habits. If Tyler and NoCalMike were under this absurd microscope, I'd be defending them until my fingers fell off, too. If you want to ban one person for the supposed crimes they've committed there, then you'll need to ban 90% of the folder, and I'm not going to stand around and watch a bunch of good people get sacked so a bunch of cretins can feel better about themselves on the internet. -
Fair enough. Goodbye. it's too good to be true. You stupid cocksucker. Just because you're not mentally equipped to hold your own against people like Marney and Mike, you go and cry to someone who might have a sympathetic ear and get at least one of them run off. Way to be "reformed." You're as much of a cancer as you've ever been. Edit: Looks like APO beat me to closing this one. So much the better.

"What the fuck" is that we're dealing with conscienceless savages who should be executed and have their entire support networks burned to the ground.

No he doesn't. Like I said, none of the regulars in that folder do. Both sides give it as well as they get it. I've never cared about flaming. And he gets flamed plenty, in CE and other places, and I ignore that, too. People like Tyler have gone off just as bad as he has, and I've done nothing to them, despite the fact that I agree with Mike a lot more often. Both sides get equal time and treatment. -

To annoy hipsters with silly screennames? -

This point is well-taken. We should be targeting idiots with these "random" bannings. None of the regulars in CE, regardless of their political affiliation, deserve to be banned, and I'll go to bat for every single one of them if it comes to that. Veto powers, bitchets. -
I'm pretty sure the second version was up and running before he was banned here.

I understand that. I don't agree with it at all, but I know that it's happened. My question was (and still is), where is the line drawn? Since this silly court intervention applies in Canada and not the US (for now... the devil only knows how it's stayed out of our legal system this long), I'll use some Canadian examples. What if Roy Halladay drills someone in the head at a home game, apparently in retaliation for a Jay being hit, and that player suffers a serious injury? What if the CFL equivlent of Ray Lewis delivers a hard hit and snaps someone's leg, ending their career? What if the broom gives out in curling and some chap falls on his face, breaking his jaw and teeth in the process? Ok, the last one wasn't serious, but the first two are. Where is the line drawn?

Let's be fair here. The left got their share in, too, since every story that originated from CNN was credited to "OMGCOMMIENEWZNETWORKLOL2004~!"

That's a tough one. On the one hand, I like being a General in the Brigade. On the other hand, Grand Wizard is a cool fucking title. I'm torn...

I read (on Rotoworld) that Williams was going to bat Beltran in the middle of the order and keep Adam "I'm lucky to have a .300 OBP" Everett in the two-spot. Beltran could be the best #2 hitter in baseball if he hits in that spot, but Williams would rather keep a fellow who sac bunts well, but can't buy his way onto first base, there. Pathetic.

Yeah, because players and managers NEVER argue. There's an old saying: it takes two to make an argument. Don't let Leyland off scot-free while you're so eager to nail Bonds to the cross. Yawn. Players argue, especially type-A personalities in the heat of competition. As with the Leyland incident, some blame needs to get put on the other parties, as well. Maybe he doesn't care what the average person thinks? And considering the way many people are shitting all over him for unproven allegations, why the fuck should he care? Y'know, if I were rich and famous, and people kept hinting that I'd done drugs, I'd just remind them that I could buy and sell their entire family 100 times before breakfast. Several black players who have played there, for Boston teams, have said the same thing. See above. So what? OMG one reporter hates him; he MUST be a waste of skin... I'm sure Tim McCarver would say something similar about Deoin Sanders. I must've missed the Be Nice to Rico Law. Maybe it's just a Sox fanboy thing... And that's entirely his right. He doesn't have to be nice to anyone, and people should have learned that and stopped expecting it years ago.

Someone watched PTI today. Actually, since I'm in school on Thursday evenings, I don't get a chance to see PTI. Good try, though. If courts are going to take action on something like this, what happens the next time Roger Clemens beans Mike Piazza in the head? What about a hard Ray Lewis tackle that snaps someone's knee ligaments? Where is the line drawn? Sports are self-policing, and the courts should let them remain that way.

Maybe if that were the reason for the government shutdown, it might be. Would you like to continue to pick nits and have me point out that the majority of the economic boom under Clinton happened after the Republican Party assumed a majority in both houses of Congress?
-
It won't. If he's taken steroids in the past, it's a lock that he's been off them for a couple years now. Circumstantial evidence and hearsay shouldn't ruin anyone. If Bonds was a steroid user, I want to see the proof, and real proof at that.

See, I'm the opposite. I liked Memorial Stadium and all, but the seats were cramped in terms of legroom, viewing angles were not optimal, and much of the upper deck was hard steel benches. Having been to both Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium several times each, I definitely prefer the newer stadia. More legroom, better viewing angles, more and better amenities, etc. Old ballparks and arenas have a lot of ambience, which I can appreciate, but damnit, I want some creature comforts, too.

Bah. I don't like the courts getting involved in sports incidents like this. Bertuzzi should certainly be punished harshly, yes, and it should be done by the NHL. It would be different if one player filed a civil suit against another, but the legal system charging and presumably trying athletes is something I can't support.

Erased, no; they happened. But whether or not they'll be acknowledged and accepted by millions of baseball fans remains to be seen. If he took steroids, then Bonds is a cheater, and his accomplishments should be held in a lesser light because of that. As for PErry, his cheating was part of his wacky charm. And I think he only got caught doctoring the ball once.

We once called the cops for child abandonment. Parents would LITERALLY leave their kids at the EB I used to work at from 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. -=Mike ...When a parent bitched, my boss simply told her "You don't pay us to be your child's baby sitter" I've never worked in a video game store, but a friend of mine owns the local hobby shop, where I judge Magic tournaments. I usually close up for him on Fridays, but that's about it. Anyway, we were both there one night when a kid who'd played a few times before was there. He was probably about 14 or 15. Around 10:30, when the tournament was close to being finished, the kid's father comes in. He was extremely irritated that his son was playing, saying he'd forbidden him from coming to the store until he got his grades up. He then tried to pin this on the store owner, like it's his job to keep track of which kids are in hot water with their parents. Eventually, after a bunch of yelling from the father and some attempts to defuse the situation by the store owner, the father busted out this gem: "If he's in here again, I'll sue you with all the power I have in this county!" At that point, I'd had enough. I was watching a match still in progress at this time, but that stupid remark was one too many. BTW, the kid and his father appeared to be Hispanic, with the father sounding like a first or second-generation arrival. Me: "Hey, it's YOUR job to keep track of your kid, not his. Why don't you just leave?" Him: "I'll sue you too! With all the power -- " Me: "You don't have any power in this county, you uppity immigrant motherfucker! Take your bullshit and your son and leave." He started to say something, but bit his tongue, grabbed his kid, and stormed out. The owner has several family memebers in the State Police. He looked the guy up and found that, to no one's surprise, he was a nobody, with zilch for power in the county. I feel the pain of anyone who complains about parents dropping their kids off to be babysat.

DON'T YOU KNOW THE DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM~!?!?

You're not the one he throws down an elevator shaft, bub.

Yes. And if I see so much as a link to your bloody forum anywhere, you'll be spreading the word somewhere else.

This will stay pinned until everyone has ponied up the cash, or been shot for being a derelict.

That's what I'm wondering. What if, on a nice night, I decide to walk to the convenience store that's a few blocks away? I leave my wallet at home and just throw some cash in my pocket and go. If a cop stops me, I'm not going to have my ID, so what happens? Do I get arrested for leaving my drivers license -- which I don't need, since I'm not operating a car -- at home? I do have my DL number memorized, but I wonder how useful that will be in this situation.
