This will never stop being a wrestling board. However, IMO, it is foolish not to acknowledge that a lot of people here don't give two pins about wrestling anymore. A lot of the old-timers, me included, joined this board eons ago because we were wrestling fans, but we've stayed for the pop culture and other areas. Paying attention to those areas is just as important as paying attention to the rasslin' areas.

So, what are the odds the wedding night video makes it to the internet?

Guantanamo Bay “has become the gulag of our time"
Dr. Tom replied to cbacon's topic in Current Events
You haven't been to Gitmo, therefore your opinion on the issue is null. Ditto for all of us, we've never been, so why are we even talking about this? Don't ask me, that's just your logic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I also didn't publish a report on it and have that report released to the press, the majority of which is all too eager to run with a story that paints America in a bad light. Let's stop comparing apples and elephants. About the moral high ground: no, I don't think we should lose it. We should not sacrifice it for one instant. What President Bush has said is that this is not just us v. them, it's good v. evil, and I think he's right. Torture is evil. It is a barbaric tactic used by the filth we're fighting. The United States should be, and is, above using such tactics. Anyone who goes against that is dealt with. And while they're investigated by the current military and justice administration, that does not mean those administrations are going to lie about what's going on. -
No one is saying you can't type out a flame. The point is, HD is no longer a safe haven for flaming. It used to be the Flaming Folder/NHB, and it was the only place on the board you could flame people to your heart's content. Now, with the no-flaming rule done away with, a separate place just to bash people isn't necessary. The harder edge that NHB/HD had isn't really there anymore. Merging the two folders won't affect anything to any significant degree.
-
Please use the pinned thread to discuss this.
-
Both of these are already under consideration. And trimming other areas of the board does not mean that GC and HD would not be merged.
-
I think the merger is a splendid idea. What will those of you who "fear change" do when you go out and get a real job? Hell, my job is a steady diet of change, often with insufficient notice and barely adequate preparation. There's no time to be afraid of it.
-
Ok, the point of this topic was to DISCUSS staffing BEFORE changes were made. So who went ahead and re-modded HTQ without mentioning one goddamn syllable here? These are the kind of decisions the admin group should be making as a unit, not one person acting unilaterally.

Guantanamo Bay “has become the gulag of our time"
Dr. Tom replied to cbacon's topic in Current Events
Even the Washington Post, far from a bastion of conservatism, took AI to task for calling Gitmo a "gulag." The US is not engaging in torture. Allegations of abuse have surfaced, and those allegations were made public and investigated. If we wanted to torture people, I doubt we'd be so public on the occasions when a line is crossed. -
I was going to be less charitable, but that'll do.
-
This would seem to be the best solution for all involved. Well, except Chrono, but fuck him.
-
I was asking Dames a simple question, and one that I really don't feel is unreasonable after the events of the last few days. I have no problems with your account being active. Please birth kittens elsewhere.

Guantanamo Bay “has become the gulag of our time"

That's not the same line of reasoning at all. Denouncing something you've never seen because it gets your delicate little fluffy panties in a twist != going to war to get rid of terrorism. -

They're worthless because they go around the world apologizing for atrocities. The people, and I use that term loosely, at Gitmo are terrorists or terrorist supporters. We should be shooting them in the head instead of having them take up so much space. If Gitmo really *were* a gulag, things would be a hell of a lot worse. AI hasn't gone to Gitmo, but they're qualified to report on it and denounce it? Seems fair. :-/ -

I don't recall that AI has ever been to Gitmo. Either way, it's just another piece of proof that they're a worthless organization. -

Try holding down CTRL when you click the link. If something is blocking the popup, that's the general default to get around it. -
After the Great Board Crash of 2003©, this is the oldest I could find: http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?...=0entry926570 It's not much, really.

Oooh, a new development in the saga. It's NOT the TSMAdmin account, which no longer exists, as far as the search tools in the CP tell me. The fifth account is "admin," which is the account Mike used to use. I'm guessing you still want that one deleted, since Josh is now the Official Tech GURU~!©?
-
I have no problems with getting rid of it. The network security guy in me has to say that generic shared admin accounts are security nightmares waiting to happen. I'll delete it.
-
Why is the Evil Empire© sending you to Corn Country, Rant?
-
BTW, guys, the Admin group in the CP shows 5 members. They don't display, since I get a board error when I try to bring up the list. Sass, Josh, Dames, and I = 4. Who's #5? Edit: Derfderf, I guess it's the TSMAdmin account. If memory serves from the other night, we'll need to set a new password on that.

I just posted this about folder mods in the Staff folder: What we have to determine is, a) do we want folder mods, and b) which folders get them? As was mentioned in the other thread, 3-4 people who are Gmods or above frequent the Sports folder, so a Sports mod is redundant, even if the folder is popular. What about 2 fellows for the Wrestling section, 1 for pop culture, and MAYBE 1 for Forums Stuff? They could be the local mods of all the folders under those headings. Edit: I just changed the Super Mod group to use the Super Mod permission mask, insteaf of the regular Mod permission mask, and enabled AdminCP access.

Yes, we need Josh as our tech GURU~! His powarz of SQL dwarf mine.

Throw the dumb fuck in jail for a long time. Parole violations, armed robbery... that shit adds up.
