You do know a mod can simply change your password, right?
-
Apparently, I misinterpreted what I'd been told and thought that everything was in place regarding the planned changes to the WWE folder. Since I was in a proactive mood last night, I made the posts that many of you saw and some of you repled to. A little while ago, I found out that everything was not in place. It seems I jumped the gun, and that is my bad, which I'll take the heat for. So if you want to give me shit about it, do it here.
-
I've seen this before, of course, but it's awesome. Now we only need to administer the same treatment to a few thousand other pieces of shit in that part of the world.
-
Perhaps this thread could get a little more off-topic... ?

I've seen two grandparents get put into nursing homes already. After seeing the people in those places, I'd much rather blow my own head off than spend the last few months or years of my life like that.
-
I used to have "Ode to Joy," but I've grown so tired of hearing ringing cell phones that I just changed it to vibrate. Besides, I play music loud in the car, so I'd never hear it ringing while I'm driving.

Why's everyone riding Bradshaw's jock? His career line: 2025-3901 (51.9%), 27989 yards, 212 TD, 210 INT. Six seasons he had more INTs than TDs, and only twice did he throw for 3000 yards. The vertical passing game wasn't as big back then, true, but I wouldn't call Bradshaw's numbers stellar. He's in because he was successful in the playoffs. Then again, Joe Namath has pretty shitty career numbers, and he's in the Hall because of his guarantee before Super Bowl III. Anyway, re: Brady. He's a very good QB, and he plays well in big games. I'm not ready to compare him to Joe Montana yet. The Pats followed up their first Super Bowl win by going 9-7 and missing the playoffs. That's a mark against Brady -- if you want to give him credit for the good times, you have to assign him the blame for the bad times. Anything else is dishonest. We'll see how they do this coming season.

The Fish 0wnz j00. And it 0wnz Cockstrider, too.
-
He'd be a good fit for Atlanta, actually. He's mobile (though not as mobile as Vick, obv), and has a strong arm, which means he wouldn't be the radical change for the offense that Doug Johnson was in the event Vick gets hurt.

I hate it when players hold out. You signed your name to the contract, now honor it. It'd be one thing if Portis were to say something like, "I've had a couple great years and I think I'm underpaid." That's using the press to your advantage, and might get a new offer out of the team. But holding out does nothing except turn people against you. I thought it was great when Jack Kent Cooke let John Riggins sit out the whole year when he was holding out for more money.

As far as I know, that's a Jerky Boys bit.

I turn 30 next week ( ), though I haven't really given much thought to getting OLD. I've seen what happens when people get old, though, and I could never due the nursing home thing and be a burden to my loved ones. If it were getting to that point, I'd eat a bullet and die with some dignity.
-
What were you interviewing for, Colonel?
-
I don't count that as a fuckup, since I think my decision to close it was (and still would be) a good one. The thread was reopened due to persistent whining and a different philosophy from Dames. I'll take the heat when I do fuck up, though, like with the WWE folder mess.
-
Never; I recommended him and was outvoted; and never.
-
I don't think I've "feuded" with anyone. I've had heated exchanged and arguments with people before, but that would be the extent of it. Nothing persistent and long-term like a feud. Besides, I don't care if people argue with me, as long as they keep the douchebaggery to a minimum. Despite what people like the erstwhile BRUCE used to claim, I've never once banned or suspended someone simply because they argued with me. I can't remember another mod doing that, either.

I liked the rule and thought it was great. The problem is, the judge is right: it's restraint of trade, pure and simple. The NFL is the only place in the world where someone like Clarett can play and get paid "the going rate" for his skills. If the NFL had a pile of facts supporting their age restriction, then they might have won. But they don't, and the only reason they have is the speculation that someone Clarett's age isn't ready to play in the NFL. The NBA had a similar rule, until Spencer Haywood challenged it and won. Had he been a bust, the sports landscape might be different now. I don't like the fact that Clarett won. I think he's an immature jackass whose own abhorrent behavior backed him into a corner at OSU, so he sued the NFL for a quick and easy fix to his self-created problems. It's doubtful he'd ever be allowed to play NCAA ball again, even if he went back to school, so trying for the NFL was his only out. He hit the full house on the river, and now the NFL draft is forever changed. I'd expect Clarett to be a first or second-round pick.

Technically, I guess he is. But since I don't give a shit about the OAOAST, I don't see any of their mods as "real" mods. I'd rank the forum mods in WWE and Puro well ahead of them.
-
Nah, he's always been consistent in his disdain for AS being made a mod (of any forum). I don't care if he's an OAOAST mod. That was my point: who cares if he has power in a separate thread that really has nothing to do with the board at large? I've become more positive on AS over the years, but I still wouldn't support him for a position of "real" power. Nothing against him, or anything, but I'll call 'em as I see 'em. ::bans Sass:: Whoops!
-
I only count one (which I posted a separate thread to take the heat for), but maybe you're using some of that "new math" they're teaching the kids these days.
-
There's no way I could get behind this. It's simply too much "paperwork" for a staff member to do. I'm not going to cut and paste someone's original post and PM it to them, along with chapter and verse from the board rules as to why it was edited/deleted. It comes down to this: staff members are not here to abuse their power. It requires you to have a level of trust in them, yes, but if you can't trust the board to be moderated fairly, then maybe you should find another board. I'm not trying to encourage anyone to leave. That's just how I feel. I'm not going to abuse my power (even though I might joke about doing so from time to time), and I think most of the posters here know that. I don't think anyone on our current staff would recklessly abuse their power, and if they did, I'd remove their powers myself. Edit: typo

Anglesault OaOast Mods 31-January 02 16293 Pardon Tom? Oh no! He has power over a parody efed that was basically setup specifically for him! Oh the humanity! Won't someone please think of the children?! Really, did you have a point, or are you just being contrary towards me today?
-
Well, DH, I have to agree to the point that you are a pretty sickening apologist. However, your opinion -- so long as it's not offered to draw heat or flames, and as long as you can defend it -- is as valid as anyone else's. Censorship is not something we're going after here; just a reduction to stupidity.

Because it had long outlived its usefulness. It had become a sad and unfunny self-parody. It had nothing to do with Love, Sex, or Dating anymore, but rather how farcical one person could be in concluding a near-neverending story. He'd had about 20 pages of posts to wrap it up already. The jig was up a long time ago. I'm indifferent to the thread. Many people had been calling for it to be closed for pages, and after reading their gripes and looking at the thread, a mercy-kill seemed like the best answer.

Overreact much? This could have all been prevented had whatever issue with Loss' wording been taken up personally with the man himself. Did he rag on 1Bob? A little, sure, but no worse than anyone else has, and in no way that's out of line. Just because he's a forum mod doesn't mean he's unable to speak his mind, and he shouldn't be called onto the carpet when he does. He can post like he always has, and should feel free to. We're not trying to curb editorialzing in the WWE folder; if you have an opinion, state it. What we're trying to cut back on is 100 threads for the same thing, every thread devolving into "OMG Wrestler X is teh sux0rz!!!!", and one-line few-word posts that don't contribute anything of value. Loss, CC, and Goodear are the forum mods. Any global mod or admin can assist them in moderating the folder, and Sass has volunteered to be the pointman for those efforts.
