Considering New England lives and dies by the pass, often using short passes like other teams use running plays, what reason is there to think they won't be passing the ball against the Colts?
-
Everything I've read indicates that it's the Mets. I'd like to see the Orioles get Maddux, though. Sure, he's toward the end of his rope and he'd only be a two-year stopgap, but so many young pitchers could learn SO much about how to actually *pitch* from him that it makes him a worthwhile investment. Presuming they sign Ponson, the O's are only looking at a payroll of around $50 million. Next year, they'll be rid of the contracts of useless pieces of shit Marty Cordova and David Segui, so they're looking good for the next offseason, too, when Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Beltran will be available.

I think that call was fine. No. No, no, a thousand times no. It's 4th and 1. Your running back gained over 1800 yards in the regular season. Today, he's rushed for over 150, and the defense has shown no real ability to stop him. A first down means the game is over, since if Philly does get the ball back, they'd have precious little time to do anything. You *absolutely* MUST go for the first down there. There shouldn't even be a second thought. There's no silver medal for finishing second, and there's no next week if you lose. Go for it. Any coach who doesn't even try to rush for ONE FUCKING YARD in that situation is a gutless pussy and should be immediately fired for letting his players down like that.

That better not be it for free agent signings. If the Twins are looking for more former Orioles to bring on as free agents, I hear Albert Belle is still available.

Colts 28, Patriots 21 Panthers 23, Eagles 17 Peyton Manning is in too much of a zone right now. The only reason the Pats beat the Colts in the regular season is because they were able to stop Edgerrin James four straight times from the 1-yard line. Don't look for a repeat of that. This game will be a little lower-scoring, but the Colts will come out on top. Philly can't stop the run. Sorry, Eagles fans, but your team can't do the fundamental thing that ALL defenses must do. Ahman Green tore them up, and either Stephen Davis or DeShaun Foster are capable of doing the same. Davis would have the edge since he can run better between the tackles, but Carolina's running game and Jake Delhomme's efficiency will make for a long day for Donovan and Company.

Mad props, Dames. I told you that conviction for sodomizing that guy from the bar wouldn't hurt you in your quest for a new job.

I've never claimed to be objective. I'm not a journalist covering a major piece of news. I'm a staff member offering my opinion about post counts. And I'm an opinionated motherfucker, so when I have an opinion about something, everyone gets the privilege of hearing it. Here, I'll sum things up for people who might be caught up in the DRAWMUH~! of recent posts: Post counts are worthless and stupid. People who take pride in their post counts are fat, pasty virgins. There. Anyone who doesn't like my opinions can eat shit on their way out the door.

You're kidding, right? If not, that may well be the most pathetic thing I've read on this board. Btw, on boards that don't display post counts, you can still find them by using the "My Assistant" or "Top [n] Posters" links.

That's an absolutely correct viewpoint. Postulating that the President might need a place to hide is not.

Perhaps with a palaentology degree, you could be a counselor for depressed palaentologists? "I didn't find the Ark of the Covenant! I'm worthless!" ::sobs:: "Tell me about your mother... "

How'd you get an AA without learning to do research? Look it up, fer chrissakes.

I've tried fighting that battle. I even started a poll about it in GC several months back. The number of infants who whined, cried, and clung to their post count like it was the last pacifier in the galaxy was quite disheartening. We decided not to yank the post counts, since so many people obviously place value in a number which appears below their screen name on an internet message board. (Can you tell I think the concept of someone actually giving two pins about their post count is ridiculous? I mean, really... get some goddamn perspective.) It's something that's possible one of these days, but the recent decision was just to turn counts off in the former NHB.

That's a dashed interesting proposal. Get to work, Beattie and Flanagan. Give him a 6th year if that's what it takes to get the deal done. I really don't expect Guerrero to have any problems with his back.

They are apparently high on Larry Bigbie, and think he can be a star someday. Uh... Bigbie is an outfielder. While I think he has the potential to be a good player, I doubt very much that it will be at 3rd base.

OMG TEH MODZ R LIEK HITLER~!!!!11!!!!11!!!!1!!!

If that becomes a problem, those folders will not increase post counts, either. Eventually, that will open the door to removing post counts entirely. Whore at your own risk. Not everyone cares about their post count. Besides, it's ONE FOLDER.

He won't. Never mind that Seifert's legacy was riding Bill Walsh's coattails. Gibbs has been successful everywhere he's been. There's no reason to think he won't be this time. He might have been out of the game for 11 years, but I promise the NFL hasn't passed him by. This is a concundrum for me, since I've always liked Gibbs, but always hated the Natives.
-
Yup. He was inactive for all 16 games last season. I fail to see the point of that move.
-
Why? He's a stopgap, and a reliable one at that. The Orioles have certainly improved their offense, but they're playing Melvin Mora at a run-production position, and that's a problem. Palmeiro's a lock for 35-40 homers and 110+ RBI, especially if the offensive talent around him is good. Getting him for a good price, especially if the O's can get him for one year plus an option, would be a good signing, IMO. But yes, the pitching still concerns me. Potential's nice, but what are they going to do THIS year?

So am I. But too many people whine and cry everytime it's brought up. So counts no longer increase in in the former NHB because of the myriad "+1" style posts in that folder. Maybe GC will be next.

Zero degrees Celsius is equal to 32 degrees fahrenheit, so it's in the mid 60's there by our temperature scale. Unless I became really bad at math, 30C = 86F. 35C would be 95F, so something in the 30s Celcius could definitely break 100 Farenheit. (Celsius degress x 1.8) + 32 = Farenheit degrees (Farenheit degrees - 32)/1.8 = Celsius degrees

If you don't want a 2000-yard running back on your team, something's wrong with you. Having a back pile up 2000 yards means you're running a lot, so you're controlling the clock. Because you're controlling the clock, your defense will be on the field less, and will spend more time out there in "garbage time," when the opposing team is looking for quick points, not a trench fight. One guy getting 2000 yards does that. PRIEST~! had more chances for TDs because the Chiefs have a much better and more versatile offense. JAMAL~! did more with less.
