Ok, the apology's been made, yada yada, this isn't a current event, so the doors to the sandbox are now locked, kids.

The Dilbert Principle: the most incompetent workers are promoted to where they can do the least harm: management.

The whole key to having a roommate is making sure it's someone you know. This doesn't apply to college dorms, obviously, but if you're out in "the real world," having a roommate is actually pretty cool. I wouldn't suggest getting a place with your best friend, but getting a place with a buddy is fine. My roommate is someone I used to work and hang out with whom I hadn't seen in about four years. He showed me this place he wanted to move into, and I was sold.

Gah, even I'm curious as to what happened. It's like watching an ambulance pull up after a horrific accident.

Heck, I used to reformat at least once a year, and I almost never have a PC problem -- that was just to clean all the shit Windows had accumulated. With XP, I haven't had to reformat, though I did get a new PC last year, so I had to install it on that one.

I agree with this. Every team should go into the offseason thinking they can win it all. There's no point in crying about salary disparity anymore: look at the continued success of Oakland, last year's surprising Royals, and the world-champion Marlins, all of whom have achieved those levels on tiny payrolls when compared to the Yankees'. However, AS, you have to realize that free agents aren't the only answer. I saw the Orioles sign a glut of free agents in the mid-1990s. They were good for two years, then chased the manager out of town and went into the shitter. Their farm system was decimated, and it's only now starting to show signs of serious recovery. You might get a couple years of short-term success, but you have to pay the piper in the long run. And unless the Yankees upgrade their below-average team speed and subpar defense, they're not going to win it all, no matter how many All-Star sluggers and pitchers they add to the roster. You still need people to catch the ball, and they've been noticably deficient in that area for two years now. The Yankees are amassing the first billion-dollar bullpen in baseball history.

One Trick Pony wants to know if he got banned

People, if you *Strongly Suspect* someone is a PBP, you can always PM a moderator to avoid the Eaganesque backlash you might get in the open forums. We'd rather hear about these things before they become issues than take reactive measures when it's too late. It's disappointing to see that several of you "knew" it was Gheyme, yet said nothing to a mod about it. Heck, just tell me via PM... I'll look into it and not rat you out no matter what I find. -
Come on, Rant, you know you'd make it with the girl in the front row.

If it's any consolation, Marvin, the real Bucs aren't doing much better.

How many posts have I made this year? That's how many candidates for Quote of the Year there are.

Since there's still a part of me that roots for the Crapitals, I'd love to see them unload Jagr. If they can get some talent in return for him, fine, but a sack of hockey pucks and a booklet of tomato sauce coupons is probably a good enough return at this point.

And now, taking the stage, put your hands together

Conspiracy to levy war against the United States. If you're a citizen, it's not necessarily expected that you fight for us in a time like this (some are unable to, after all), but it's bloody well expected that you're not going to try to fight against us. Beliefs are not holy. Their "beliefs" were in line with people who had caused the deaths of 3000 on our shores. Americans shouldn't be aligning themselves with the enemy, and if they choose to, there are consequences. Um, yes they did. They broke a law, and now they're being punished for it. Maybe you don't agree with the law, but that doesn't change the fact that they broke it and got caught, and now they're paying the price. And I suppose there's a country out there that's more free than we are? -

Heh. Probably, just give it time. The women's movement will change what we now call male plugs into "potential rapist plugs," and female plugs will become "victim sockets." And then I will go on a throat-slitting rampage at how stupid and PC our society has become.

Yep, that was reported in the Goofs page for the movie on IMDB, IIRC.

I'd be all for it. I've been all for it all along. Or maybe posts in General Chat and Hardcore wouldn't affect the post counts. I know the last time we put it to a vote, too many people who take the number of times they've clicked "Add Reply" (and thus, themselves) far too seriously whined about the prospect. Just implementing it in an iron-fisted manner is much better.

I'll be doing the same. I did all my shopping thru Amazon.com last year. I got books, CDs, and DVDs from the main site, toys thru their affiliation with Toys R Us, and electronics thru their affiliation with Circuit City. One-stop shopping, and free shipping. I had my Xmas shopping done in about ninety minutes, and I did all from a comfortable leather chair. People who actually go shopping this time of year are masochistic suckers.

It's not a too-mah! To the topic at hand: how... er, enlightening. If, of course, by "enlightening," I mean "vapid."
