It seems most of the people I'd want to nominate are already nominated. I don't think NHB should have a "folder champion," since it's basically a bunch of nonsense mixed with bitching and flaming. General Chat gets a reprieve because of things like the gnome thread, and Metal Ed, which shine above the usual silliness. For Love, Sex, and Dating: definitely Stardust and EricMM. They're the beacons of light in a cesspool. The rest of the folder seems to be filled with people trumpeting the fact that they're gay, that they engage in deviant sexual practices, or that they're too chickenshit to actually open their mouths when someone with breasts is in the vicinity. Shine on, you crazy diamonds.

That's good.

Their defense is soft. The latter half of last season exposed their early-season work as the smoke-and-mirrors I was trying to convince everyone it was. DUngy has a good defensive mind, but the Colts don't have a great defense. And I'm unconvinced he's a competent playoff coach based on his record to date. Don't count them out. The Panthers are a good dark horse time, IMO. Their defense last year was stellar, and adding Stephen Davis is only going to help their woeful offense. They're still lacking at the other skill positions, but 350 carries from Davis will have them threatening for a wild-card spot late in the season. Feel free to count them out.

They also thought it would be a good idea to have "Thunder and Lightning" in the backfield. Barber would do the outside running like quicker backs do, and they'd pound Dayne up the middle. The logical thing, of course, was to make Dayne a fullback and let him play the Mike Alstott role, but the Giants apparently weren't that bright.

Saturday's pretty bad, actually. I think my money league is having its draft that day, and I have to help a friend move. Sunday is pretty free, so far, and Monday is naturally out.

I'm aware. I said Philly and Oakland fans were also scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's a toss-up between the two of them, really: cheering for a guy getting injured, booing Santa Claus, and throwing batteries at JD Drew vs. beating up opposing fans and the occasional stabbing of an opposing fan. I can't say I'm positive on Boston sports fans, but they're still a bit above those from Philly and Oakland.

The Drunken Micks and Soccer Hooligans thread

No, the other quarter is mostly English, with, sadly, some French. -
Trying to get yourself banned, Ripper? Actually, we get new servers as we need them. In the past year, we've replaced at least half of our Sun servers, and gotten several new racks of HP server products for the Windows side of things.

Ditto. I double-dipped on the first one, but not this time. I've had a pirated DVD (Academy Awards version) of The Two Towers since it was in theatres, so I don't mind waiting a couple more months to buy the megadeluxesuperduper edition.

But since the movie is ostensibly a documentary, basing it on lies, half-truths, staged scenarios, and speeches edited for effect is dishonest. There's precious little point in supporting a dishonest filmmaker who peddles his wares as the truth.

I think that would be when he signed with Anaheim. He was still a great hitter then, and there's no reason he should have been made to feel so unwelcome in a city where he put up some very good numbers. If the attitudes have changed in recent years, great. That doesn't change the fact that Boston minority athletes have complained about racist treatment from the fans. Heckling a guy is one thing; you buy the ticket, you have the right to get on someone's case. Within reason. Please explain to Jason Kidd, his wife, and their child, how much class the sports fans of Boston have.

I didn't catch it, but their odds should be about as good as those of the Bears. The Colts are the better team, but since Peyton Manning is always in need of a playoff Heimlich maneuver, their chances of getting to the big game are small.

France: Hamas, Islamic Jihad not terror groups
Dr. Tom replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in Current Events
Really, though, I was talking about the French girls with tight bodies and loose morals whom I met in the discotheques. They had their shaving and bathing together, as did most of the people I met over there. There were a few rude Frenchmen, but you're going to run into assholes anywhere you go. I think my experience was helped greatly by the fact that I spoke the language, though, and could ask questions and converse with people in French. I probably came off a lot less like a tourist and a "typical American" because of that. -
Not to nitpick overmuch, but I think the latest theory about the universe states that it's finite after all. Still, it's pretty fucking enormous, and we haven't discovered any other intelligent life out there. I think there is something else out there -- the universe is way to big for us to be the whole f'n show -- but our current technology isn't good enough to find it yet.

8yr old Autistic boy dies at faith healing service

That's fine. My point in posting is that you seem surprised and upset that the public perception of Christians will be affected by the actions of people like this. I suppose, in your place, I'd be a little bent about it too, but it can hardly be considered a surprise at this point. People tend to remember the negatives more than the positives concerning groups, and a group of people calling themselves Christians who browbeat women and murder children is certainly a negative. Btw, I'm not saying MY perception of Christians or Christianity in general has changed because of this incident, or others like it. But you have to know there's going to be backlash from hoi polloi every time something like this happens. -
Tell you what, Johnson: I'll wine and dine someone from the arts and croissants crowd, and you can explain to full-bird Colonels and Generals why their PCs don't work, without telling them it's their fault (even though it is), all while they're staring at you like you'd make a good practice dummy for the firing squad. Going out to dinner with some random fuckwad would be a nice change of pace after the past few weeks.

It's not so much that, as we get new virus definitions hourly, based on the Army's contract with Symantec, and we have the latest SAV and a firewall in place. Exchange does a poor job of filtering infected emails, even in conjunction with SAV, and when people see an email titled "Your account" from "[email protected]," they open it. For some reason, not everyone had the virus definitions that would have stopped that in its tracks. We also have several users connecting remotely who don't get the network updates, and a lot of them got hit. And since they have to call in and do their updating over 56k, the whole thing was quite a bitch.

I'm half Irish. I'm also a quarter German, which means my main ambitions are to get drunk and take over the world. However, if this is about a posting clique, count me out. Posting cliques are ghey. -

Not hardly. Boston probably has the worst sports fans outside of Philadelphia and Oakland. Ask a lot of the minority (specifically black) players who have played for the Red Sox how welcome they were made to feel by the fans. Let Mo Vaughn, who was booed out of town at the height of his productivity, tell you about the death threats he used to receive. Pedro might be oversensitive, and he might very well be a prick, but when it comes to the fans of Boston, he looks to have a legitimate beef.

The Niners still have a horrible defense. Combine this with Dennis Erickson's inability to coach at the NFL level, and it's easy to see that the Niners have no chance of playing in the Super Bowl.
